Ocean Sheriden 4.05 @ 8/1

Red Rose riot 4.30 @ 16/1
Hernando Torres 5.25 @ 20/1
Selected Thirsk – soft ground on this flat an quite quick track
1.50 London Grammer comes here on the back of two successive seconds, but is a regressive 2yo and is very hard to win with. He was 3 lengths behind Dream on Dreamer at Ayr on soft ground but is a massive 15 pounds better off, but her rival did go close that day and despite the tough task at the weights, I’m with her to grind this out in a weak opener.
¾ pt win Dream on Dreamer
2.55 Flowing Clarets has a big advantage at the weights and is the only runner who will appreciate the soft ground in the field. Looks a highly solid fav.
1.25pts win Flowing Clarets @ 5/4
4.05 The sort of race I love , a big field sprint on a straight track and first thing is to identify where the pace will come from. The most likely leader is Kommander Kirkup, who is drawn low and often here that is the pace to be when the mud is flying. This one caused a 40/1 shock over C&D 3 starts back , beating a very reliable type in Best Trip and the one win came on soft ground. A reproduction od that makes him of interest today, but you just can’t set your watch by this one and he has been right out the back under similar conditions on the past. Wherever he finishes he will start prominently and on this wide track, the high numbers could well be a bit off the pace , and many of the market leaders are drawn high. Ocean Sheriden has never been out of the frame in five runs on soft ground. He is drawn low and his good 2nd at Donny a few starts back shows that he’s effective on flat tracks. My only doubt about this one is that trainer Michael Dodds runs two and Connor Beasley, whi has had his pick, has chosen My Name is rio, who is better at the minimum distance and not really great on soft, and he’s also drawn high. Sticking with my analysis.
½ pt ew Ocean Sheriden @ 8/1
5.50 HIjran has done well since joining Mick Appleby and followed up a win over C&D with a most solid 3rd at Catterick on softish ground and over a bit shorter. This looks most winnable but it an apprentice race, so not getting overly involved.
¾ pt win Hirjan @ 10/3
Selected Newmarket- good to firm on this undulating, galloping and stiff track
2.00 Spatial ran well over C&D on her recent debut and this big race entry will take some beating today. Newcomer Sobetsu is also well entered up and races for Godolphin, so must have showed something for her to be held in such regard. Spatial is the 4/7 fav, so looks a nice race to watch
3.45 It wasn’t a great race which Exoteric won last time and despite this being only hs 5th ever race, more is required. Medicman has not been far away in recent efforts and connections trya longer trip, which visually hasn’t looked the way forward. Tomahawk Kid is only having his 4th ever race and ran well last time on his first try on quick turf , giving plenty of optimism that this longer trip will suit/
¼ pt wim Tomahawk Kid @ 9/1
Selected ffos Las- mostly good ground on this flat and galloping track
2.10 Arazak went close here last time but the longer trip is copper bottomed on pedigree and the overnight rain may not help. He;s tempting at 5/4 in a winnable race, but I’m passing
2.45 looting ran away with a Sandown sprint last time but the return to six furlongs off a much higher mark are significant negatives. Chaplin did it well over C&D last time and is fairly weighted on that run and is just about worth a play.
½ pt win Chaplin @ 13/8
3.20 Dheyaa ran Afalme close last time and that one has won since. Today looks her day, but this is as far as she wants to go and the rain is a worry. AT even money, not for me , despite an obvious chance.
4.30 Intercepted runs in famous colours and is well bred so it was just a matter of time before the penny dropped and that came on the Kempton polytrack with an easy win at this trip, but second horse Dream Ruler enjoys a 6 pound pull for the length defeat and of course both have to prove effectiveness on turf. Red Rose riot ran well on similar ground at this trip at Lingfield finishing 3 lengths behind Frivolous prince , and has a 6 pound pull in the weights, Her next run wasn’t that great but perhaps the stiff track and quick ground weren’t to her favour . The small stable are among the winners and is one of the better longshots of the day.
½ pt ew Red Rose Riot @ 16/1
5.05 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Newcastle- all weather- tapeta. The track is stiff and galloping
4.15 PREMIUM RACE
5.25 The penny has certainly dropped with hat-trick seeking Cape Crystal, aa typical Sir Mark Prescott rapid improver. She’s won her last two on the Wolver tapeta, so the surface is fine, and no reason why the track should trouble . She is though up a further 6 pounds for her win in what was just a modest affair and I’m more than happy to be with Hernando Vaquero. He’s most effective on this surface and is slowly coming to the boil after his break. He’s drawn close to the fav and this tough sort willingly battles for the win.
½ pt ew hernando Torres @ 20/1
7.35 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Goodwood- good to firm on this undulating and quick track
5.00 It’s not a great contest and I very much fear that the boat as gone for Essaka, runner up in his last 3 starts as he’s gone up 4 pounds and is only 2 wins from 29 .There was quite a bit of money for Beau Minstrel last time and it looked like they’d done their cash as he fell out of the stals, but cane with a withering late run to snatch the race. A 3 pound raise looks Ok and this slightly longer trip should also be fine. He has one of the better riders in this apprentice race with George Dowlong , and this wont take much winning
½ pt win Beau Minstrel @ 7/1
6.05 Only five go in this nursery and I’m with the only one who has yet to win in Procurator as his form looks a bit stronger and looks best suited to the C&D and ground.
¼ pt win Procurator @ 4/1
7.45 Baltic Prince is a likeable front runner an dacts on this kind of track. He’s well drawn and shouldn’t be too hard pressed early on an dmay just hav enough left for the final push. The consistent Golden Weddding has a rare try on this kind of track and a bigger danger si the unexposed Consulting as Clever Bob’s recent win came in quite a weak maiden.
¼ pt ew Baltic prince @ 7/1
Selected Hamilton- good to sofft on this undulating and stiff track
5.20 PREMIUM RACE
6.24 Galilee Chapel is the clear form horse and deserves a win over a C&D he runs well, but he’s a real hold up type and as most of these also like to be held for a late charge, it offers the well handicapped Munjally a decent opportunity as he’s one of the few who like to go forward early and ran well over C&D a few starts ago.
¼ pt win Munjally @ 12/1
6.55 Specilv has taken her performance to a new levl since trying sprinting. She ran very well here after missing the break and followed that up with a cosy win at Ayr. The form is not great, but she only did enough to win and this C&D and ground will suit far more. She goes up in class but remains unexposed as a sprinter . Courier is making up for lost time and comes here on a hat-trick but a recent 6 pound rise looks very harsh and is now racing off a very high mark while Rose Éclair has yet to impress at this trip .
¾ pt win Specialv @ 3/1
8.00 Rock Crystal has gone mighty close recently and has found himself in a most winnable race. He goes very well over this C&D, the ground is fine and promising jockey Clifford Lee takes 7 pounds off his back. If he can’t win this , you would have to worry about his desire to succeed.
¾ pt win Rock Crystal @ 2/1
