The Terrific Treble

Arabian Jazz 2.10 @ 5/4
Sporting Times 4.00 @ 6/5
Black Bess 3.20 @ 11/10
The Fortune for a fiver
3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Father Macenzie 2.30 @ 5/1
Horsforth 5.40 @ 5/1
That’s the deal 6.35 @ 9/2
Selected Nottingham- probably good to soft on this flat and galloping track
2.00 Only 3 of these 2yos have ever raced and of those Zain Flash ran the best, but those behind him that day have hardly given any substance to the for , so it may be worth playing Global Exceed . Plenty is expected of this £200,000 purchase , and he will certainly benefit for his debut run which came at Brighton on quick ground, which is not every horses’ cup of tea. He was running on well after a slow start and this more conventional track and softer ground should see a much better performance. The newcomers aren’t anything special on paper .
¼ pt win Global Exceed @ 8/1
2.30 Many of these are switching from the all weather and can only be watched on a rare try on turf. Father Macenzie is most consistent and comes here on the back of a another good effort when 2nd at Lingfield , 6 lengths behind Quench dolly, who showed on Saturday what a much improved sprinter she is a with a massive run under a huge penalty. This wont take much winning and this straight forward type is likely to be front rank all the way an don ground he handles, can improve upon his modest win record .
½ pt ew Father macenzie @ 5/1
3.00 The short priced fav is Coeur de lion, and you couldn’t disagree with that as he comes here from a very successful season over hurdles where he ran to a level of 130 , which is about 91 on the flat and today he races off just 73 ! This looked his level last year , but he was a much improved type during the Winter and, an easy win wouldn’t surprise, but he wont be the first good hurdler to blow a good flat mark. I’m not sure whether Chelseas Boy or McCools Gold will relish a two mile slog in the mud, but veteran Barizan may just take to it off a declining mark, and he hasn’t been running terribly of late.
¼ pt ew Barizan @ 25/1
3.30 PREMIUM RACE
4.00 Doesn’t look a strong maiden and the form showed by Sporting Times in his only start last year on sift is well good enough to take this, especially over thos longer trip. But 6/5 a bit sbhort for me for a single in a maiden.
5.00 Coiste Bodhar didn’t have the best of times on the fibresand of late but he runs this C&D well, especially on soft ground and was only beaten a neck here last year off a 3 pound higher mark !
¼ pt win Coiste Bodhar @ 6/1
Suggested Nottingham placepot
Selected Newcastle- all weather – tapeta
The track is stiff and galloping
2.40 I was on the brink of making Table Manners a Premium tip in this winnable event as he’s fully effective over c&D and while but high in the weights his last run was a solid effort off this mark in higher grade. I’m a bit worried about his 2 months break, which is much longer than normal, but even if he needs this , wont be long before winning again in thus grade.
½ pt win Table Manners @ 8/1
3.10 A really tricky handicap with three very much in form and unexposed types in Shargain, Tom’s Rock and Pushaq, all up in the weights and all trying this C&D for the first time, and against this trio we have the consistent MUqarred , going up in trip and Bollihope, who brings most solid C&D form to the table , but in lower grade and marks ??????
4.10 PREMIUM RACE
4.40 A wide open sprint , but with most of these best being held up for a late charge, worth a play on the consistent El Principe, who looks sure to be front rank , remains feasibly handicapped and is worth trying over thisC&D from a rails draw.
¼ pt win El Principe @ 6/1
5.40 A very tricky finale and the shirt priced fav is the lightly raced Marseille who has winning form over C&D and looks feasibly handicapped today. Little kingdom has won over C&D, but in lower grade and also off a much lower mark so preference is for the consistent Horsforth, who is rarely far away, runs this C&D very well and despite being a bit high in the weights , wont be far away , and this looks a bit easier than tasks of late.
½ pt ew Horsforth @ 5/1
Suggested Newcastle placepot
Selected Brighton – good to firm on this undulating and very tricky track
2.20 Arabian Jazz brings pretty good form to the table and has only to run this track Ok to collect, but 5/4 a bit short for a single
2.50 This is very much for the taking and worth chancing Neptune Star who ran quite a good race at Beverley last time off a slightly higher mark, showing she has the stamina for this trip and that is more than can be said for most here.
¼ pt ew Neptune Star @ 12/1
3,20 The handicapper could have ben far harsher giving the likeable Black Bess just a two pound penalty and the double looks very much on against two struggling rivals at relatively generous odds.
1pt win Black Bess @ 11/10
3.50 PREMIUM RACE
4.20 The oldest horse currently racing on the flat, the very wonderful Megalala , will give it a right old go from the front and could teach many other show to battle for the win. If he wasn’t so badly drawn , I was going to have a small play on this wonderful 16yo, but track regular Tommys Gael , looks a better option.
¼ pt win Tommys gael @ 6/1
5.20 PREMIUM RACE
Suggested Brighton placepot
Huntingdon- good ground on this flat and galloping track
5.35 It really should be New Agenda’s big day as his form is some way better than the others , but he continues to find little in the finish an if anything could get close, could spoil his day yet again . Major Davis shaped Ok on his hurdling debut, running on well at the end. Worth a small play.
¼ pt win Major Davis @ 9/2
6.05 A weak handicap hurdle and the two who make most appeal are the hat-trick seeking and reformed character Lake Chapala and Jackthejourneyman, who are both usually seen over fences and can run off much lower marks over timber. The latter runs this track very well and on ideal ground , could nab a rare win.
½ pt win Jackthejourneyman @ 6/1
6.35 veteran That’s the Deal comes here in top form . He looked slightly lucky to win at Fakenham, but still took his chance well and comes here on the back of a cracking effort , again from the front, when beaten in a 3 way photo, battling all the way. He looks good to lead these tonight and at a track he runs well, and against less than formidable opposition , looks the best bet on the card.
¾ pt win That’s The deal @ 9/2
7.05 This is so winnable and a further drop in the weights and class, makes Knight’s Parade worthy of a small play.
¼ pt win Knight’s Parade @ 7/1
7.35 Only 3 go and the bookies rightly have then as co favs. They are likely to have an equal shore of support and none of them have a clear edge ., and all 3 are very decent types
8.05 Despite a five pound penalty , Midnight Monty has little to beat and can nail the C&D double
½ pt win Midnight Monty @ 2/1
8.35 Always Archie is in terrific form and this tough and genuine type, looks good to send fav backers home happy
Suggested Huntingdon placepot
Selected Hexham- good ground on this undulating and very stiff track
6.15 Frank the Slink went close here last time out but was reeled in late on by the back to form Apache Pilot, who has run well since but he is 14 pounds worse off with the selection for the 6 lengths win. The tip went from the front that day on similar ground and similar tactics will make him hard to catch in a modest field.
½ pt win Frank the Slink @ 11/2
6.45 This will be much harder for the in form The Doorman off a much higher mark and has yet to race at this very stiff circuit. The in form Cape Hideaeay continues to run well but keeps getting nudged up the weights, for not winning, and is another who could find this demanding circuit too much. Desert island Dusk has no concerns regarding the track but the longer trip is the problem. Ninepointsixthree showed up better last time on his first start for Sam England and is worth a small play as the track could well suit judged on hid flat form.
¼ pt win Ninepointsxthree @ 6/1
7.15 No Such Number won really well over C&D last time , but the 8 pound hit demands much more. In fairness to her, she has had few tries at this trip, so could get the double as this is not a huge ask.
½ pt win No Such Number @ 5/2
7.50 Hattons Hill won here last time exactly as he wanted in a rare try on quicker ground. He is another with a hefty penalty , and the 10 pound hit makes this far from a formality, but again the opposition is not formidable , but not for me at only 6/4
8.50 Good chance for Final Countdown to get that elusive win but marginal preference is for Bygones for Coins, who goes well here and remains on a fair mark. Frightened Rabit won well last time but that was on heavy ground and has a lot to do with a stiff penalty.
¼ pt win Bygonesforcoins @ 10/1
