Selected Redcar- good to firm on this flat and galloping track
1.35 Collateral is a costly juvenile, £200,000, and ran well when 4th on debut on quick ground , and this looks a great opportunity to get off the mark, but at evens , I can pass.
2.05 A wide open low grade stayers handicap and plenty of these are in good enough form to be bang there and many of these are regulars over this C&D. With Hindsight, Major Rowan, Percy verence , Adrkahn and Midnight warrior are all going well enough at this trip to go close today while both London Glory and Surround Sound drop in class but go up in trip, just to add to the puzzle ! Crakehall Lad runs this C&D well an comes here on the back of a good 2nd at Nottingham . His wide draw is an issue, but shouldn’t; be far away. Like many of these , he is a rare winner.
¼ pt ew Crakehall Lad @ 8/1
2.40 A good pace is assured with the once useful Jacob Black, who is sadly in decline, sure to take them along at a good clip. , and a few others likely to push on just behind, Horsted Keynes comes here on very good form and this is a brilliant opportunity, but his form figures say it all, placed in 5 of his last 6 and no win for 3 years. He has gone close a few times and surely one must drop his way soon, but has to be a knocking ew bet.
¾ pt ew Horsted Keynes @ 4/1
3.15 . Rock of America has done well reaching this mark in just 3 races, but this is his first run on turf and can only be watched today. He is the likely pacesetter and there will be plenty coming late and fast. Batten the Hatches hasn’t had many tries, but has already given the impression that this trip is short enough. Desert Sport is up 4 pounds for a win at Bath, and this easier track could find him out. The handicapper has given The Nazca Lines a very good chance and his 3rd at cattrerick 2 starts ago, off a much higher mark , is race winning form .
¼ pt ew The Nazca Lines @ 7/1
3.50 A big field claimer with plenty way out of their depth , but as is often the case in claimers, the higher rated horses are not running to their mark. Earlier in the season, Tadawool went close to landing a couple of good handicaps but still finds winning hard an dhis last two runs have been most disappointing. Pobbles won over C&D last time, but only ran to mark of 50 doing so, and he’s officially rated 67 !! Iberica Road was a reliable and pretty useful type last year, but his form tailed off and was eventually sold on. He is still officially rated 72, which would be enough to be a contender in this, but it’s doubtful he is near that mark nowdays. I’m still risking him because his last effort was on turf at Leicester, where he led for most of the trip, but weakened late on. That was over a much longer trip and at the odds, worth a go as long priced winners in claimers here are not unusual.
¼ pt win Iberica Road @ 20/1

Selected Ayr- good to firm on this flat and galloping track
2.20 With Lomu returning after an 8 months break and Somehing Brewing hard to fancy, especially on the quick ground, looks between the other four, who are all high enough in the weights, but Aardwolf looks the likely leader, and in the context of this race, looks a decent bet to hold on.
¾ pt win Aardwolf @ 6/1
2.55 Dance Kin is back to form, but is up a bit int the weights for his latest good 3rd , but wins are hard to come by. Rainbow rebel was close behind in that race, but is also up a bit in the weights. One going the other way is the downgraded Speed Company, who won off 2 pound lower last year, and in the context of this race, that’s good enough to take this .
¾ pt win Speed Company @ 3/1
3.30 A Class 2 handicap and despite being highly tested at the weights, I’m with the progressive and most likeable Sophie P . She beat the in form Nicholas T over C&D on similar ground and is only a pound worse off, but has been recently shoved up 8 pounds by the handicapper for running a brilliant 2nd in a Listed race. She’s likely to have been flattered by that run , but this field is full of hold up types and as she races prominently , could well have the run of the race under capable 3 pound claimer Nathan Evans and we know she is tough to beat in the finish.
¾ pt win Sophie P @ 7/1
4.10 A Class 1 sprint and at the weights , there can be only one winner as Queen Kindly has a 10 pound cushion , at least. She drops to arguably her best trip, as they have tried her over further with no joy. You do have to worry if she has trained on or has the speed for this trip nowadays and is an easy even money shot to try and beat. The clear alternative is the consistent and tough Futoon, who will be going with the pace and a deserved big race win can be hers.
¾ pt ew Futoon @ 6/1
4.50 Interesting that they drop El Hombre down in trip, but I can’t see it working against five furlongs specialists. Lightscameraction is most speedy and has been given a chance by the handicapper, but it does require a leap of faith on current form, but is still the likely leader. Coolfitch ran well last time out and is a clear contender but it’s going to be tougher for My name is rip, up in the weights and on quicker ground. Lexigton Place has won this for the last two years, but has been disappointing of late, but has been given a chance by the handicapper and has to be worth an interest.
¼ pt win Lexington Place@ 8/1
5.25 The bookies have thos practically atwo horse wat between the consistent and likeable Dandy Highwayman and the in form Vallarta. I back dandy highwayman a lot , and he dug in well to prevail last time at Hamilton, but previously struggled for bit of speed at ripon. He’s five pounds higher, and this speed course could find him out. Vallarat has won here a few times and is in the kind of form to extend his record. Both Dark defender and Gilmer need much softer ground.
1pt win Vallarta @ 7/2

Only race I’m playing is the 5.20 which is for members only
Ascot- good to firm on this stiff and galloping track
2.30 The short priced fav is Aidan O’Brian’s September, who made quite an impression on debut, but it was on soft ground. The field is full of lightly raced successful types capable of doing well today. Godolphin run two in Gold town and Masar, who both have strong claims while Westerland runs in the Frankel colours and is another with a shout. If a Mark Johnston runner wins first time out , they tend to be pretty useful and that’s what Nyaleti did at Salisbury on quick ground , beating a decent yardstick with 5 lengths back to the 3rd. She was an outsider that day,and is bred to appreciate this longer trip. The stiff C&D should suit and will do for me at nice odds.
½ pt ew Nyaleti @ 12/1
3.05 A quality Class 1 handicap, but plenty of these are vefy high on the weights and I’m with the fav Kidmenever. This ex French had been busy in Meydan , running big races off around this mark. The firm ground is a bit of a worry but he should have a good pace to aim at with a number of prominent racers . Could well be another Godolphin winner here. Khairrat has only run 4 times and after an initil 2nd , has won his other 3, but is today a massive 13 pound higher for a Chester win, where he very much got the run of the race from the front.
½ pt ew Kidmenever @ 4/1
3.40 A n ultra competitive middle distance race for older horses and the fav is the very wonderful Dartmouth who runs for her Majesty. He comes out best at the weights, just, and had to work hard to win last time, his only run this season. Idaho is rated to go close and the drop in class will help whilem the useul Eings of desire would do very well to defy a 10 month absence. Muntaha is certainly getting his act togethe and won well on the firm ground at Newbury at this trip. He was way behind Dartmouth last time, but the ground was far too soft that day.Looks a very nice ew bet for this as the top trainer rates him highly
½ pt ew Muntaha @ 14/1

5.35 The last race of which has been another excellent Royal Ascot , helps when the Sun is shining and the ground is fair .This is the longest race of the week 2miles 5 and a half furlongs and usually some C&D specialists have a try, but only Orietal Fox falls into that category and he’s not been in any kind of form this year, but is now a 9yo , but can’t be totally ruled out. The prolific Thomas Hibson won the handicap marathon here a few days ago, with some ease and despite being the fav for this , has only the same chance at the weights as qyite a few here and has a lot to find with Qewy and Us Army Ranger at the weights. This pair are about 8 pounds higher than the pack but Us Army Ranger is hard to fancy on his form this year while Qewy is a possible for Godolphin , but both of course have to see out this marathon. Thomas Hobson is still only officially rated 100, but his win rates him around the 115 mark, and the double wouldn’t surprise, but it would be some feat winning two marathons in 4 days.Fun Mac is a useful stayer and ran a cracker in the Chester Cup. He has form at this track and at a slightly shorter distance and will certainly do for me at long odds.

Selected Lingfield – good to frim on this undulating and quite sharp track
5.45 The oldest flat horse in training , the very wonderful 16yo Megalala showed last time out that he’s not completely finished with a customary gutsy effort when 5th last time but beaten less than 2 lengths. He’s been dropped a very healthy four pounds and the useful 7 pounc claimer Kathy glenister takes the reins and she’s been good to us a few times of late. The trip is on the long side maybe, but in a poor race as this, has to be a bet at massive odds.
½ pt ew Megalala @ 20/1
6.15 This won take much winning and the consistent Angelical can get back on track with the ground more in her favour.
½ pt win Angelical @ 7/4
6.45 Impressive day lost nothing in defeat laast time going down narrowly off this mark at brighton, so this track should be fine and can continue her progress.
¾ pt win Impressive day @ 5/2
7.50 Medburn Dream has been unlucky of late not to add to his tally, but he is weighted to the hilt. Great opportunity in this, but 6/4 is too skinny for me .
8.20 dealer’s Choice has those form figures that you send alarm bells ringing ,loads of placed efforts and no wins, and last time out ran a poor race to be beaten by amuch lower rated rival. SDS rakes the ride and the plan must be to win and get her off to the paddocks as she is not the heartiest of types. At even money she is an easy swerve, and the others are hard to back too.
8.50 Veteran Swendab always runs his race and this wont take that much winning against many rivals up against it off their marks. He’ll be trying and worth a small play.
¼ pt ew Swendabb @ 9/1

Selected Haydock- good to firm on this flat and galloping track
6.30 I was disappointed with Midnight Malibu’s run last time when the jockey went along with a strong pace and the finishers had it to themselves. She can come just off the pace, which promises to be quite hot in this woth Annie Salts and Lydias Place sure to go on. She stays on a workable mark and will do for me at lovely odds. The fav is the most progressive Mans Cross, but she is up 8 pounds in a deeper race. Showdaisy is a useful type and is another with claims in an interesting race
½ pt win Midnight Malbu @ 10/1
7.00 Suspect Package is certainly knocking on the door with two recent 2nds both off around this mark and at this trip should get the better of another youngster in Teodoro with the rest hard to fancy.
¾ pt win Suspect Package @ 2/1
8.05 JUmira prince runs for a big stable and got off themark at oly the 4th attempt ina winnable soft ground handicap. This is tougher test , and will be tested by the quicker ground. Sidewinder has 2 wins over C&D and struggled last time, again over C&D in both the grade and the soft ground . He’sonly 3 pounds hgher for his last win and can go in again. Wigan warrior scrambled home last time in lower grade at shorter and needs to find more.
½ pt win Sidewinder @ 9/2
8.35 This looks a great opportunity for Sovereign Bounty, who went close last time and the field looks clear for a deserved win. He had Mon Bleu Viasge a few lengths back last time, and this one looks good for th fc as Sante has it to do at the weights and trip and both Chosen Character and captain Courageous are tested by their marks and on this ground can be taken on.
