Today’s Fortune for a Fiver
3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Man of The north 2.10 @ 15/2
Ballytaggle 2.40 @ 8/1
Brandon Castle 3.30 @ 5/4
Selected Ayr – good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.50 We have an odds fav in Irish raider Western Honour , who runs for the top stable of Gordon Elliott, but he’s not that far ahead at the weights, and both the drying ground and the switch to a left handed track casts doubts in a field of many dark horses. I’m wth one of these in Looks like murt, who didn’t come cheap and shaped up well here when 2nd in a bumper, and fair to expect more up in trip over hurdles.
1/4pt ew Looks Like murt @ 16/1
2.20 This has a most winnable look to it and I have to side with the disappointing Felix Mendelssohn, who in his youth was a highly rated flat horse running for Aidan O’Brien, but he’s nothing like that quality nowadays, but has showed bits of form of late, which in the context of this race would be good enough for a rare win.
1/4pt ew Felix Mendelssohn @ 6/1
2.50 hard to famcy many in this and the drying ground reduces the short list even further. The lightly raced Seemingly So has form claims but stamina has to be trusted. Landecker bounced back to form last time, but it did come at his beloved Kelso, and he’s cut no ice here in the past. Arthur’s Secret is rarely far away but frustratingly has a poor win record, but wont get a batter chance than this.
1/2pt ew Arthurs Secret @ 6/1
3.20 Not much between Dandy Dan and Rio Quinto at the weights, but the former has impressed of late and is the more potent on the ground.
1/2pt Win Dandy dan @ 9/4
3.55 Not a strong heat and the form horse Casual Cavalier has a good record here and is trusted on ground quick enough.
½ pt win Casual Cavalier @ 10/3
4.25 the consistent liosdiun Bhearna is on a fair mark on his handicap debut, but drying ground a worry. Discay comes here in great form and despite a 5 pound hit for anorher good 2nd last time, looks sure to run his race and a nice ew bet.
1/4pt Ew Discay 8/1
Selected plumpton- good ground on this gently undulating and sharp track
2.00 PREMIUM RACE
2.30 graasten’s form is so far in advance of his rivals that he is 1/7 to prevail, but it could be said that mine’s A Pint is a similar long way ahead of the rest and an ew on this returns more than a play on the fav.
1/4pt ew Mine’s a Pint @ 10/1
3.30 Brandon Castle was a prolific and useful type on the flat with a rating of 95., which equates to 136 over hurdles. He is 2 from 2 over hurdles, both races over C&d and both times front running . He beat a decent type last time which makes his mark of 130 most manageable in a winnable race. He shouldn’t be troubled early up front and will be very hard to beat.
1pt Win Brandon Castle @ 5/4
4.05 PREMIUM RACE
4.40 Not a deep contest and the drop in grade will certainly help Ruby Yeats who went well over C&D recently when s decent 3rd. Her win record is poor , so just a small play. Intersting that Her Majesty has a runner in this low grade hurdle and no surprise if No Trumps improved markedly for the switch to handicaps.
1/4pt ew Ruby yeats @ 4/1
Selected Uttoxeter- good ground on this mostly sharp track with a galloping straight
2.10 the short priced fav is Choochoobugaloo who is a massive stone higher for landing a very soft race, and I’d much rather look elsewhere. Man of The North was the surprise winner of a small field handicap last time , but beat a capable one and the 3 pound hit most fair. Has the ground in his favour.
¼ pt win Man of The north @ 15/2
2.40 Cooper’s square bounced right back to form last time at Huntingdon and anything close to that sees him landing the double. But that win came very much out of the blue and this is a very different track. Baytaggle has run well in both of his chases and this is not a deep race.
1/4pt ew Babytaggle @ 8/1
3.10 The Cashel Man was a useful stayer on the flat snd did very well on his hurdles debut, which is the best form in the race, but wins have been hard to come by for some time and rather play the tough and uncompromising Trio for Rio.
¼ pt ew Trio for Rio @ 9/2
3.45 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Wolver- all weather- tapeta
5.25 Hardly a deep contest and the in form Kingi Compton looks a most solid fav. He was unlucky a few days go when missing the kick but still finished close up. His only run here previously wasn’t a bad effort. Groggy has a few questions to answer , down in trip and badly drawn.
3/4pt win kingi Compton @ 13/8
5.55 Practically all of these come into this race in good shape and the majority effective on the surface or C&D. but the inform Its All A joke is favoured by the draw and worth a play.
1/4pt Win its All a joke
6.55 PREMIUM RACE
7.25 Nice to sea has the best form over C&d ,but there are a number of dark horses in yhis going up in trip, so just a small play.
1/4pt Win Nice To sea 2/1
7.55 Not a deep finale and despite a rotten win record, traveller is the one to beat. His recent 3rd over C&d off this reduced mark makes him the one .
1/4pt Win traveller @ 3/1
