Aintree – soft ground on this flat and galloping track

2,20 The ultra consistent Itchy Feet was held up at Cheltenham, and stormed home for an excellent 3rd in the big field, with both Felix Desjy and Aramon about 7 lengths behind. This easier track should not be an issue and will do for me in a tough race where none can be ruled out.
¼ pt win Itchy Feet @ 9/2
2.50 Topofthegame was certainly that when winning at Cheltenham establishing himself as the leading staying novice chaser, and is odds on for the double . At the odds I’m well happy to play the useful Mr Whipped , who wonwell last time in the Haydock mud beating a useful soft ground performer in Springtown Lake in just his second chase. I make him the best of the rest with a few of his rivals with a bit to prove on this ground at the trip.
¼ pt ew Mr Whipped @ 14/1
3.25 The Melling Chase and the bookies are having a job separating Min, Politologue and Waiting Patiently at the head of the market. Waiting Patiently carried all before him last year , and the year before, winning 6 from 6 , and had Prolitolgue just behind in his only completed run since, but this is a rare run going left handed and first time cheekpieces another concern. Poltologue narrowly won this last year getting the better of Min and comes here on the back of an excellent effort in the 2 mile Champion Chase with Min well held behind. Good chance of the double.
1/2pt Win Politologue @ 5/2

4.40 A very tough race with many of those with the best for,. Including market leaders Champ and Emitom going up markedly in trip. Downtown Getaway cost connections a whopping £350,000 and comes here on the back of a decent win, but needs to find plenty to reach the level of the market leaders, but he looks all about staying, and we could see a different horse today.
¼ pt ew Downtown Getaway @ 14/1
Just having the one play as the vast majority of handicaps are competed by all weather types., so just too much guesswork relating their form to quick turf.
5.55 Cheerfily looked a filly to follow after landing a quick ground double over C&D 2 seasons ago, but since then , she’s ran more bad races than good. She has recently joined the top stable of Archie Watson and ran Ok on polytrack and much better can be expected under ideal conditions in a weak race .
¼ pt win Cheerfilly @ 11/4
Selected Sedgefield- good ground on this undulating and sharp track.
2.10 Enforcement got the better of Collodi narrowly recently and the latter has gone close since, but neither will be suited by the drying ground. One runner who will be well at home on the ground is veteran mare First of Never who finally broke her duck after 37 tries with shock win at Wetherby at very long, and justified odds. She was going OK when taking a late fall next time at Donny in a deep small field handicap. She can be forgiven a lesser run in in the Newcastle mud last time and considering she’s hit the frame in 4 runs here from 6 starts, has to be a most lively longshot.
¼ pt ew First of Never @ 33/1

5.30 I’d been following the consistent if luckless Kraka and managed to jump ship just in time for him to finally nail one at Chelmsford City. He’s just as effective here and the win will have done his confidence the world of good, but the 7 pound hit and a middle draw makes this tough. I prefer the chance of longshot Mystical moon , who landed a big field event at Chelmsford, running to a level comparable to todays’ mark. She’s nicely drawn and has run to a decent level over C&D.
1/4pt ew Mystical Moon @ 16/1

7.30 The short priced fav is Birch Grove, but she’s only had 3 runs in 2 years , which is always a worry and returns from a 5 months break and tries a trip which has caught her out before. Clear preference is for the capable Vampish, who ran well here over a shorter trip before going close at this trip at Kempton and will get maximum assistance from the saddle with Atzeni riding .
1/2pt Win Vampish @ 7/2
No Wolver placepot
Selected Dundalk- all weather- polytrack
5.40 Moments linger did very well on debut over C&D with a good 2nd and experience counts for plenty with 2yos, but there has been a ot of support for newcomer Yesterdayoncemore, and this pair are the even money joint favs, but experience sways me,
6.10 Sir Mark Prescott has plundered this meeting successfully in the past crossing the Irish Sea , and saddles the consistent Elysses Palace, who should have well too much for his rivals in this claimer , and even money could look very generous after the event.
½ pt double Moments Linger @ 6/5, Elysses Palace @ evens-
6.40 The veteran Sharjah has 8 wins here on his Cv and while not as good as he was, comes here in good form off a most workable mark and looks a cracking ew bet .

7.40 Veteran Red All Star won over C&d in the Autumn, when I tipped him to win at 25/1 ! He’s had a few sighters since a break and from an excellent draw and a top jockey riding, looks a most lively longshot .
¼ pt ew Red All star @ 28/1
8.45 Crossingoz has been in consistent form here for some time and is weighted to get revenge over Lady Godiva , and looks good in a winnable finale .
½ pt win Crossingoz @ 10/3
