Selected Ponty- good to firm on this stiff , undulating and galloping track
Again I’m not getting involved much on the flat, especially in the absence of any reasons who will like the ground, track and also likely fit enough to do themselves justice .

5.00 this very much looks a match between Alfred Hitchcock and Rathbone, who both ran to good levels last year without ringing the Victory Bell. The latter is rated 5 pounds superior, and his main rival, runs for a good stable , but has only had 3 runs here before , all successful and is ridden by Tom Queally, but sadly the glory days when he partnered arguably the greatest flat horse of all time Frankel, are way gone, and he’s been struggling for winners in the last few seasons, and comes here with a win record of 0 from 21, and his last victory was 4 months ago !
½ pt win Rathbone @ 6/4
No Ponty placepot
Selected Exeter- good to soft on this undulating, galloping and stiff track
2.10 Cybalko is consistent , but remains a maiden, but has so much in hand and wont be troubled by the ground or C&d, it should very much finally be his day.
1/2 pt win CYbalko @ 9/4
2.40 Youngster Legal History sluiced in at Ascot in a decent juvenile handicap, so obviously stiff tracks suit and should be doubling up against exposed handicappers, but not for me at odds on.
3.10 This has a winnable look and fingers crossed that this is not a race too many for the capable and back to form Nesterenko . Racecourse appearances have been most infrequent in recent years, but went very close last time , and despite a 4 pound hit, is still incredibly well handicapped on old form. Worth a dabble.
1/4pt Win Nesterenko @ 9/2
3.40 Dollnamix was most unlucky taking a last flight fall with the race in his pocket . but has still been penalised 7 pounds and this stiff C&d could well find him out. Gallows point ran really well last time out for a very much in form stable, but curiously have never done well here, and neither has the rider. Good to see Colin tizzard back among the big race winners at Aintree and quite a few others also ran well, so the cloud way have finally lifted above his yard. He runs the lightly raced Master Majic, who showed signs of ability in his first handicap last time and today’s longer trip looks a smart move on pedigree. Another worth a dabble.
1/4pt Ew Master Majic @ 11/1
4.10 Urtheonethatiwant is progressing well, but despite clear form claims I would rather just watch first time on a stiff track. Hot ryan did well in his first handicap which was over C&d, and the better ground should not be an issue.
1/4pt ew Hot Ryan @ 7/1
4.40 The short list for this is very long but rowing in with the down in the ratings and grade Rosemary Russett, who has very decent form over C&D on soft ground and the better ground today is very much in her favour. The good stable has an excellent record here and the excellent Sean Bowen rides.
1/4pt Ew Rosemary Russett @ 7/1
5.15 Coopers Square has been transformed by the switch to staying chases and is unlucky not to be coming here on a 6 timer, as his only defeat was an unlucky unseat. He was a narrow winner last time at Warwick, but there was a long way to the rest, so the 8 pound hit could be manageable , but of more concern is the switch to a stiff track, as all wins have come on speed circuits. Kiwi Myth was a determined winner over C&D last time out from the luckless Big Time frank, but drying ground no help. One horse who will appreciate the ground is Heluvagood, a C&D winner on similar ground earlier in the season and has run well since on ground too soft. And shouldn’t be far away today.
1/4pt ew Helluvagood @ 11/2
5.45 This Hunter Chase looks a match between Herbert Park and Dicky Bob, but preference for the latter who has landed two recent Opens in Point to Points with scintillating front running displays and has a C& win on his CV
1/2pt Win Dicky Bob @ 7/4
Selected Southwell – good ground on this flat and sharp track
2.20 Goodthyneaway was an easy winner over C&D last time on similar ground , and despite the 8 pound hit, this looks even easier and should reward odds on players.
3.30 Rhagaer looked the business when winning over C&D on similar ground first time this season, but two subsequent runs were very poor, with no apparent excuses. This event has a winnable look to it and the switch to Olly Murphy’s stable, who does well with new intakes, could revive.
1/4pt Win Rhaegar @ 4/1
