Castletown 4.45 @ 7/1
Barton Knoll 1.45 @ 6/1
Triggered 4.15 @ 13/2
Brunel Woods 3.20 @ 6/1
Ayr- good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.25 PREMIUM RACE
1.55 Plenty of in form types in this Class 2 Chase but the front running Drinks Interval has been allocated a very favourable mark in her first handicap. Earlier in the season she ran to marks in the mid 140’s a few times, and only has to race off 139 today. We do have to forgive a few tame efforts of late, but they were on unsuitable ground and worth a dabble.
¼ pt win Drinks Inteval @ 7/1
2.25 The Scottish Champion Hurdle, which is a handicap and the drying ground wont be helping the chances of market fancies Malaya and Mister Fisher, and plenty others are on stiff enough marks. Dino Velvet comes here on a hat-trick after good ground wins on speed tracks, and looks a most lively longshot off just 5 pounds higher. He won at this meeting last year but what puts me off a bit is that regular rider Wayne Hutchinson prefers stablemate Redicean . RevFc ??
¼ pt ew Dino Velvet @ 22/1
3.00 A tricky Grade 2 Chase, and at the weights only Cool mix can be safely ruled out. With the exception of Ballywood, the others all have a history of front running, but the progressive Castafiore has showed that she can run her race without having to lead and with stamina doubts regarding Balywood, worth a play .
¼ pt win Castafiore @ 7/1
3.35. The Scottish Grand National- PREMIUM RACE
4.10 PREMIUM RACE
4.45This race for conditional jockeys and amateurs has a very winnable look to it and I like the look of the consistent, if frustrating Castletown, who was 2nd in this last year and has a positive jockey booking .
¼ pt ew Castletown @ 7/1
5.20 It’s never easy carrying a penalty in a bumper, but the lightly raced Mam Trasna could be ahead of the game as he was sold for a whopping £95,000 after winning last time and has joined the top stable of Gordon Elliott who does very well with new intakes.
¼ pt win Mam Trasna @ 9/2
Selected Newbury- soft ground on this flat and galloping track
1.40 A group 3 and despite many decent sorts competing, the bookies make this a match between the classy pair of Young Rascal and Defoe, but as the former is 3 from 3 here, goes well on soft and has a terrific win record, gets the nod .
½ pt win Young Rascal @ 7/4
2.10 A tricky Group 3 for fillies as most of these are unexposed and plenty could have improved over the Winter. I give the nod to Dandhu who progressed well last year and has no issues with trip or ground.
¼ pt win Dandhu @ 6/1
2.40 At the ratings, this Group 3 looks to be between Boitron, Great Scot , Mohaather and Hello Youmzain, but as the latter has stamina to prove, concentrating on the other three, who are hard to split but Mohaater’s final win was impressive coming over C&D snd on soft ground.
¼ pt win Mohaather @ 7/2
3.15 PREMIUM RACE
5.35 A massive field, and plenty with a chance but I’m with one of the more unexposed runners in new show who after a good maiden win was sold to this good stable and ended the season with a fair effort at Goodwood on good ground. This more galloping track and soft ground will help.
¼ pt ew New Show @8/1
Selected Bangor – good ground on this flat and sharp track
1.45 the ground and sharper track could well catch out last time winners Inaminna and gone Platimum while runaway Huntingdon winner Air de rock has a massive penalty and also goes up in trip. Barton Knoll holds his form well and this is easier than what he’s contested of late.
½ pt ew Barton Knoll @ 6/1
2.15 Not a deep novice hurdle and it looks a match between the closely matched pair of Financial Outcome and the front running shaman du Berlais. Both of these have become hard to win with but just favour the latter as it’s hard to front run for 3 miles.
¼ pt win Financial Outcome @ 5/2
2.45 Most of these would be happier on softer ground, which gives a good opportunity for the back to form Solar impulse, who operates nowadays on a most workable mark, but it’s been some time since he last won one.
¼ pt win Solar Impulse @ 4/1
3.20 Another race where most will struggle on the ground so worth a nice play on the lightly raced Brunel Woods, whose last effort reads well in the context of this.
1/2pt ew Brunel woods @ 6/1
3.55 Danceintothelight will as usual try to make all, but ageing legs often give out late on. He deserves a win and every chance in a modest heat.
1/4pt Win danceintothelight @ 9/2
4.30 Not a deep contest and the longer trip and the drop in the weights could see Overawed converting a number of placed efforts into a deserved win.
1/4 pt ew Overawed @ 15/2
Selected Thirsk- good ground on this flat and quick track
3.05 Rickyroadboy won three rimes last year , including over C&D and this likeable type is worth risking returning from break in a winnable race back on a good mark.
¼ pt ew Rickyroadboy @ 25/1
3.40 PREMIUM RACE
4.15 A good quality 3yo sprint and there’s be no hanging about with all of Mutawafer, Little legs, Leodis dream, Yolo again and que Amigo, talented front runners, but surely this tough battle for domination can only set this up for the closers. Capable strong staying Triggered is the one.
½ pt win Triggered @ 13/2
Selected wolver – all weather- tapeta
6.00 An open start to proceedings and a bit harder to solve as it’s a race for amateur jockeys , and the best In these ranks, Simon Walker rides the capable of currently out of form Bernie’s Boy, but he goes well here, is well drawn and well handicapped, so he could wave his magic again. You hsve to give chances to all of the in form veteran Steelriver, last time winner Gottardo and the in form pair of Fiery Breath and bobby joe Leg, but preference for the reliable the Groove, who goes well here, has a nice draw, but the jockey is pretty inexperienced .
¼ pt ew The Groove @ 6/1
6.30 the back to form Big Time Maybe needs to find more with a penalty but the consistent poeta brasiliero has claims back here. Slight nod goes to the well treated veteran Lexington Place, as this could be set up for his strong finish.
¼ pt ew Lexington Place @ 13/2
7.00 as all of How Bizare, De Little engine and Gabriel the Tiger all like to front run, this is another race which could change complexion late on. Marshal Dan reappeared from a long break with a good 2nd off this favourable mark, hopefully this wont come too soon.
¼ pt ew Marshal Dan @ 4/1
7.30 Irish raider Our Manekineo won as he liked on his last visit to this C&d and in a winnable contest, the 3 pound hit may well not stop him.
1/4pt Win Our Manikinekko @ 3/1
8.00 Many of these are going up in trip, which looks more out of desperation than design to get a win on the board. Another Reason went close over C&d last time In a better race and has been harshly shoved up 4 pounds, but in the context of this race, could get away with it.
¼ pt win Another reason @ 7/2
8.30 There’s been little wrong with either of Allieyf’s efforts of late and fair odds to take this quite deep maiden.
¼ pt win Allieyf @ 4/1
