Today’s Fortune for a fiver
6 50p doubles, 4 25p trebles & 50p ew acca
Take It Down under 1.30 @ 5/2
Jack Lamb 3.45 @ 2/1
Hepijeu 2.55 @ 11/2
Mr Adjudicator 4.40 @ 4/1
Selected Yarmouth- good to firm on this flat and galloping track
1.30 No surprise at all in this weak opener if handicap debutant Take It down Under was way too good for these off a fair mark and a nice bet up in trip under SDS.
½ pt win take it Down Under @ 5/2
2.00 A feature of the 2yo races this season is the high level of success enjoyed by up and coming trainer Archie Watson and he saddles in a field of newcomers endless joy , who runs in famous colours and also was a costly purchase, but at around evens I can pass.
2.35 Love So deep stepped up on last year’s form when winning at Nottingham on quick turf and this trip. It didn’t look a deep race, but neither is this and may be able to overcome a 5 pound hit.
¼ pt win Love So Deep @ 11/4
3.05 A short priced fav in Hamlul , but as he was comfortably held off around this mark last year at this trip and ground, looks vulnerable. At the odds happy to play the consistent Mainsail Atlantic, with no issues regrading trip, ground and mark.
¼ pt win Mainsail Atlantic @ 6/1
3.35 King of Comedy did well in both runs last year but carries a penalty and not for me at around even money in a field full of unexposed types. What catches my eye is the booking of Ryan Moore aboard the roger Varian newcomer Edaraat racing in famous colours. Worth a dabble at the odds.
¼ pt win Edaraat @ 12/1
4.05 Hard to be sure in this as most of the form horses are switching from the all- weather, including the 4 timer chasing Camachess. The penny has well and truly dropped with this one and she was rated around this mark on turf last season, so worth a go at nice odds.
¼ pt win Camachess @ 13/2
4.35 Grandfather Tom is not one for the kids’ dinner money but certainly has claims in this winnable finale. He’s run well on this ground over C&D before and came to hand quite quickly last year.
¼ pt win Grandfather Tom @ 6/1
Selected Sedgefield – good ground
1.40 PREMIUM RACE
2.15 looks a match between the in form pair of Chasma and Two Hoots , preference for the former chasing a hat-trick.
½ pt win Chasma @ 13/8
3.15 Sporting Press is 2 from 2 over fences but had to work hard to get up at Kelso dropping to this trip , and on quicker ground under a penalty could be vulnerable against some capable rivals. Consistent veteran Civil Unrest deserves a win and is 2 from 2 here.
½ pt win Civil Unrest @7/2
3.45 Not a deep race and after a good 2nd on his comeback spin, Jack Lamb hard to beat.
½ pt win Jack Lamb @ 2/1
Selected Ludlow- good to firm on this flat and sharp track
1.50 A very weak opener and despite being even money , Cock a Doodle Do has been disappointing of late.
2.25 Another weak event and understandable that Baby King is a warm order, but comes here on the back of a tame one and drying ground no help.
2.55 A tricky small field stayers handicap but happy to play the prolific and consistent Hepijeu wth the switch to hurdles no issue.
½ pt win Hepijeu @ 11/2
3.25 All of these are having problems nailing one, but Master Burbridge comes here in arguably the best form and chanced up in trip.
½ pt win Master Burbridge @ 4/1
3.55 Hard to fancy many in this , but the drop In trip is likely to help Hahadi, who comes here on the back of two decent runs.
¼ pt win Hahadi @ 4/1
Selected Fairyhouse – good ground on this undulating and galloping track
2.10 Despite the massive field we have a short priced fav in La Textor, who has the best form , runs the C&D well and likes the ground, but even money is no kind of bet for me.
3.10 A Grade 3 chase for mares and willie Mullins runs the joint favs in Camelia De Cotte and pravalugna, with Ruby preferring the latter , which places me in a quandary as on the ground I was with the other. Both have been known to lead, which is not ideal for either, but I’m hoping Ruby is wrong.
½ pt win Camelia De Cotte @ 2/1
4.10 PREMIUM RACE
4.40 Mr adjudicator looked unlucky at Cheltenham and with Ruby in the saddle can show he;s better than just a 149 rated handicapper.
½ pt win Mr Adjudicator @ 4/1
Selected Lingfield- all weather- polytrack
4.55 PREMIUM RACE
5.25 come On Tier is likely to get the run of the race from the front , and is good enough to be able to dominate throughout in an above average seller.
¼ pt win Come on Tier @ 2/1
5.55 It wasn’t the deepest race when Comeonfeeltheforce won for his new stable, surpassing all previous efforts, but won well but is unlikely to confirm form with the close 2nd Capofaro on revised terms and from the worst of the draw, and that form could be good enough in a modest heat.
½ pt win Capofaro @ 3/1
6.25 The flying probability has won 4 of his last 5 all from the front. I was with him last time at Kempton and while the winning distance suggests he has little in hand, the jockey was always in control of the situation and from a good draw , looks a good bet to win again.
¾ pt win Probability @ 5/2
7.25 The back to form Fareek does look the one here, but only a small play at skinny odds.
¼ pt win Fareek @ 2/1
Selected Wolver- all weather- tapeta
5,10 After a couple of tame efforts, there was money for the one very useful tha’ir last time out here and won cosily. Its quite sad seeing this 9yo now running n Class 6 events off a mark of just 50, as in his hay day was winning at Meydan off a mark of 100 ! but as long as he’s happy, Ok. He has no penalty for the win but does drop in trip . This is a low grade event where things have to drop right for horses in this grade to prevail and to complicate matters , it’s for apprentices.Adventureman won off this mark and C&D lsst season making all and signalled a return to form last time. He’s well drawn to attempt an all the way win but despite the jockey being very experienced, he’s on a long losing run, so just a dabble.
¼ pt win Adventureman @ 9/2
5.40 PREMIUM RACE
6.10 The marvellously consistent Harry Callaghan carries my money frequently, but not tonight as he’s drawn a blank in both runs here. The veteran Yasir generally holds his form well and has run well in his last two runs over C&d , both times off higher marks. Again a jockey concern with Dougie Costello not riding many winners. That aside , a cracking longshot.
¼ pt ew Yasir @ 14/1
7.10 Havana Ooh Na Na, showed promise last year and got it right over C&D and didn’t do badly last time in a deeper contest at Newcastle. This not deep and could go in again.
½ pt win Havana Ooh Na Na @ 3/1
No Wolver placepot
