Today’s Fortune for a fiver
6 50p doubles. 4 25p trebles & 50p ew acca
Oud Metha Bridge 3.50 @ 5/1
Strong Team 3.40 @ 13/2
Viens Chercher 4.10 @ 11/10
Stop Talking 5.10 @ 7/1
Selected Haydock – good to firm on this flat and galloping track
2.00 All of these 3yos are unexposed at middle distances on the ground , so hard to be sure, but the nod goes to the in form Starczewski, who looks likely to benefit from the longer trip.
¼ pt win Starczewski @ 5/2
3.30 PREMIUM RACE
5.00 Dapper man comes here on a hat-trick after a demolition job at Hamilton last time and this bold front runner did the same trick over this C&D last season, off around the same mark. This is a race for apprentices and the young jockey aboard is going well, but preference is for Mushariff , who is closely matched with Dapper Man and his usual jockey rides.
1/4pt win Mushariff @ 6/1
Selected Perth- good ground on this flat and pretty sharp track
2.10 A very weak opener and the Irish raider Cats for Cash has the form in the book finally nab that elusive first win, but he can disappoint and not one for me, despite what looks a winnable chance.
2.40 PREMIUM RACE
3.40 Frightened Rabbit finally nailed one last time in tenacious style at Hexham and has no penalty, but could be found out by this quicker track. Outcrop wont be far away but preference is for C&d winner Strong Team , who’s ran well the last twice, building up fitness after a break.
¼ pt ew Strong Team @ 13/2
4.10 Viens Chercher won with authority last time over C&D and hard to see him failing in this weak field off just a 4 pound higher mark..
¾ pt win Viens Chercher @ 11/10
5.10 Amalfi Doug was impressive over C&D last time but has a massive 15 pound penalty and tries quicker ground. Stop Talking is now on a testing mark, but is not fully exposed and is a C&d winner. She will be well ridden by Jonjo O’Neill Jnr, who is 3 from 3 aboard this genuine mare.
½ pt win Stop Talking @ 7/1
Selected Yarmouth- good to firm on this flat and galloping track.
2.20 It’s not a deep race and the in form Plum Pudding could well make all. She is more of an all weather specialist but has run well enough on turf to land a modest event.
½ pt win Plum Pudding @ 11/4
3.20 The drying ground may well not be in the favour of recent winner Akwaan and slight preference for the lightly raced and capable Cape Victory .
¼ pt win Cape Victory @ 15/8
3.50 Both Star Shield and Leo Davinci come here on the back of good wins but on softer ground, so under their penalties preference is for the modst likeable and reliable Oud Metha Bridge, ho runs this C&D so very well and despite a penalty, will run his race, which could just be good enough.
¼ pt win Oud Metha Bridge @ 5/1
5.20 PREMIUM RACE
I’m just having one bet in Ireland in the Bellewstown 5.55
Plough boy won this last year off a higher mark and came back to form recently when given a prominent ride on ideal quick ground. This is not a big ask and if again ridden front rank, is the one to beat.
½ pt win Plough Boy @ 5/1
Selected Newbury- good ground on this flat and galloping track.
5.45 PREMIUM RACE
8.00 The drop in grade will help the reliable Lady Dancelot in a winnable event.
¼ pt win Lady Dancelot @ 5/2
9.00 It was a much improved run by Rambaldi up to this trip last time and remains on a good mark.
¼ pt win Rambaldi @ 5/1
Selected Epsom – good ground on this undulating, sharp and tricky track
6.05 A race for lady amateur jockeys named in honour of the horse and jockey who have won this four times before. The very wonderful Tapis Libre has been a terrific servant for connections over the years and is right terrier in the finish. This is his obvious target for the season and while the 11yo is getting no younger, he has ran Ok this season. I fear the drying ground may be a bit quick for him , but is still carrying my money.
¼ pt win Tapis Libre @ 3/1
6.40 It may not have been the deepest maiden when Mrs Dukesberry ran 2nd on debut, but she did well from a poor draw at Lingfield, so the undulations here shouldn’t be a concern. She has the plot draw tonight and could be away and gone.
½ pt win Mrs Dukeberry @ 9/4
7.15 Veteran ashpan Sam is a standing dish here but needs things to go his way and has become a lead or nothing type. An early lead is far from assured as Harrogate, on his day, is a right speedball and long odds if he gets it right at the start from the best of the draw.
¼ pt win Harrogate @ 12/1
7.45 The short priced fav Sir Busker looks very vulnerable on drying ground and a high mark which offers a decent opportunity for C&D winner Majestic Mac, who will need a good gallop to chase at this trip, but could just get it.
¼ pt win Majestic Mac @ 10/3
8.50 It’s been a while since Mr Scaramanga last rang the Victory Bell, but has gone close over C&d before in stronger races and expect him to be front rank and see it out the best.
¼ pt win Mr Scaramanga @ 5/2
