Today’s Fortune for a fiver
6 50p doubles, 4 25p trebles & £1 acca
Celsius 3.55 @ 5/4
Warning Fire 5.00 @ 5/4
Ifton 3.45 @ 5/2
Crantock Bay 2.45 @ 7/4
Selected Donny- good to firm on this flat and galloping track
1.40 An open start to the card with a stayers handicap for amateur riders. Both Perla Blanca and Percy Prosecco come here with clear claims on good marks and fine on the trip and ground but the nod goes to Buyer Beware after his excellent 3rd over C&D last time , and will be well ridden by the evergreen Serena Brotherton.
¼ pt ew Buyer Beware @ 6/1
2.45 With both Thirlmere and Tipperary Jack carrying penalties for wins on the all weather and with the drop in trip most unlikely to help Majaalis, the coast looks clear for Crantock Bay to finally nail one over a C&D he runs well.
¾ pt win Crantock Bay @ 7/4
3.55 Youngster Celsius did it very well last time when switching to more patient tactics and in the absence of serious opposition , another win looks on.
¾ pt win Celsius @ 5/4
5.00 After a right old demolition job at Haydock at this trip, Warning Fire did very well to be a close 2nd off this mark down in trip. This is not a big ask and looks another solid fav.
¾ pt win Warning Fire @ 5/4
Selected Newmarket- good to firm on this undulating, galloping and stiff track
1.50 You could make a case for many in this Group 3 but Mark Johnston knows what it takes to win this race and his representative Nayef Road ticks many boxes and we can expect a prominent ride under SDS and could take some reeling in.
¼ pt win Nayef Road @ 6/1
2.25 Visinari was easy to back on his debut over C&D on quick ground, but made all in most impressive style , running to a good level, and the field was scattered all over the place. The for has been franked as the distant 4th and 5th horses have done well since. He’s a warm order today and against some runners proven in the grade, but is an exciting prospect and likely to make all again.
½ pt win Visinari @ 11/10
3.00 I love these big field sprints and I like the look of a longshot in the reliable and progressive Philipine Cobra whose 2nd to Archer’s dream at Yarmouth as she remains unbeaten and now rated a lofty 101 . the tip followed up that run with an al the way win at Bath on fast ground, which gives encouragement for today’s C&D and followed that up with a brave win in the mud. She was only 3rd last time, but only beaten a length and it came down in trip but off this mark. There is not much early pace in this race and she is certainly shaping very much as the type who will run her race whatever is chucked at her. Josie Gordon gets on well with her and well happy to have a nice play at long odds.
½ pt ew Philipine Cobra @ 18/1
3.35 A Group 2 and last year’s Derby winner Masar continues on the comeback trail after missing almost a year of action. He was below par at Royal Ascot, but not by much and did almost fall leaving the stalls, so the run was reasonable. He finished 3 lengths behind the reliable and useful Mirage Dancer , and as this one could also have the edge on quick ground , looks a good bet to confirm the form.
½ pt win Mirage Dancer @ 9/4
5.10 the fav is Motarrab who I was with last time when landing a maiden over C&D , but harshly has been bunged up 7 pounds and was well held off a much lower mark previously in handicap company. The useful and consistent Ulshaw Bridge is rarely far away and promises to run his race again at nice odds.
¼ pt ew Ulshaw Bridge @ 10/1
Selected Carlisle- good to firm on this undulating, galloping and stiff track
2.00 As the drying ground is not in the favour of the capable Remember The Days and with most of these hardly cutting the mustard of late, decent chance for the reliable Zihamm , who ticks the most boxes for this, quite comfortably .
½ pt win Zihamm @ 4/1
3.45 Ifton ran well over C&D on his comeback spin and comes here on the back of a solid 3rd on fast ground at Haydock. He’s been lucky in the draw today and with the quality of opposition , at best modest, this should be his day.
¾ pt win Ifton @ 5/2
4.15 Jack The truth firmly has the bit between his teeth and has no penalty for his latest win, but the draw could have been kinder and has a couple of inform and tough rivals in Only Spoofing and Spirit of Wezda, with the nod going to the latter with proven track form.
1/4 pt win Spirit of Wezda @ 8/1
4.50 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Newbury- good to firm on this flat and galloping track
5.40 PREMIUM RACE
7.15 PREMIUM RACE
8.20 easy enough just to concentrate on three here in Tamachan, from a strong stable and likely to appreciate the longer trip, Anyonecanhaveitall, solid form at around this trip and mark, but not strong in the finish and my choice in Twenty Years On who won on fast ground at Salisbury and ran ok on the all weather last time, giving the impression this longer trip would suit.
¼ pt win Twenty Years On @ 5/1
No Newbury placepot
Selected Epsom – good to firm on this undulating, sharp and tricky track
6.30 The clear form horse is Mujassam and this represents a bit of a penalty kick against out of sorts rivals. Taverner is sure to try and make all , but not running nearly well enough to support and the expected strong pace will suit the tip’s strong finish. He’s won at Catterick so should be OK here.
¾ pt win Mujassam @ 2/1
7.05 We’re approaching mid Summer which is also known as Sir Mark Prescott time, it’s when this shrewd trainer starts introducing his 3yos who had light campaigns as juveniles over trips far too short. Every season he has a couple who rattle up a sequence off reasonable opening marks and struck yesterday at Yarmouth. He runs Blame it on Sallly , who was campaigned on the all weather mostly last year , but in a winnable contest worth a dabble , despite a wide draw and this not being the stable’s favourite track, but one to note in the future whatever happens tonight.
¼ pt win Blame it on Sally @ 6/1
7.35 This is one of those small field handicap where you could run it six times and get a different result each time, but the nod goes to the thriving Diamond Lady.
¼ pt win Diamond Lady @ 5/1
8.10 Cedar put in a much improved run last time and in a race lacking substance looks a nice longshot.
¼ pt ew Cedar @ 11/1
8.40 Hard to be with either Data Protection or The Warrior and with both Simoon and Grey Spirit on testing marks, decent chance for the well treated Arigato to strike over a C&d he runs well.
½ pt win Arigato @ 4/1
