Selected Doncaster – soft ground on this flat and galloping track
A special how do you do to my most wonderful friends , Robbie and Suzanne Page, out to enjoy an excellent day’s racing, and winning , but excited by the after racing entertainment from Rob’s fave band James ! Have a most excellent day
1.10 PEMIUM RACE
2.50 Finoah landed Premium Tip Members’ Nap last Saturday at 8/1, ploughing through the Haydock mud for a very gutsy win and will make a tight fist of it today despite the penalty and slightly less demanding ground. There’s plenty of early pace on here which wont help those front rank, which include Finoah, but the waiting gang will have a great race make up. Presidential won 5 times last year, but has found this mark tough this season, but decent prospects today on his favourite ground and also an ideal strong pace to chase. The first time cheekpieces are a bit of a worry according to the stable’s stats.
¼ pt win Presidential @ 11/2
3.25 Another race with plenty of early pace with the flying Laith Alareen sure to try and make all but will have company from the badly weighted Dapper Man and also Acclaim the Nation. Laith Alareen landed a 4 timer last year in great style, but today’s ground a worry as are the other front runners. Kick on Kick On has had a light season, which is no bad thing and started this season well with an excellent 3rd in higher grade in the Newbury mud and was only 4/1 for that contest. After an unlucky run at Goodwood he only recently returned from a long break when never being put in the race on fast turf. Far better expected today on soft ground and this late player has a good race make up .
½ pt ew Kick On kick On @ 8/1
4.35 A tricky finale and as it’s an apprentices’ race, even trickier. A couple pf front runners assures this being run at a true pace and I’m chancing the inform Elhafei, with good recent form at the trip off this mark and chanced on softer ground.
¼ pt win Elhafei @ 7/2
Selected Newbury- soft ground on this flat and galloping track
1.15 Quite an open handicapper but the consistent Sputnik Platinum is going well enough off this mark and trip and no fears with soft ground .
¼ pt ew Sputnik planium @ 7/1
3.00 Worth a try on the well treated Love Dreams on race make up alone as he is the only front runner in a field of hold up types and wont mind the ground.
½ pt win Love Dreams @ 8/1
3.35 The back to form Sir Dancelot would do very well repeating last year’s victory with a penalty and on unsuitable ground. Hey Gaman is running really well and looks sure to front rank but if we go back a few runs to his excellent 2nd at The Curragh, behind the classy Romanised, he had Safe Voyage just half a length behind him , which was a terrific effort by the tip as that race was on unsuitable soft ground , underlining the progress he has made this year. The ground was testing here yesterday which gives him the edge.
¾ pt win Safe Voyage @ 5/2
4.45 Zzoro has dropped to a good mark and did well enough last time on the Nottigham mud to give him decent ew prospects in an open event .
¼ pt ew Zzoro @ 15/2
No advice from Cork today- enough going on !
Selected Ripon- soft ground on this undulating and quite sharp track
2.05 PREMIUM RACE
3.15 The great St Wilfred Handicap and with al big field sprints on a straight track begin with where the early pace will come from. There are a few contenders for the lead including last time winner Dakota Gold , who was 2nd in this last year and will give it a right go despite a testing mark . He Is drawn 5 so may head stands side as could another front runner in Lake Volta, who ran pretty well in the Stewards Cup despite never being able to dominate . the softer ground will help and is likely to be front rank throughout and sees this trip out really well.
½ pt ew Lake Volta @ 9/1
4.25 PREMIUM RACE
Just the two tips at Perth, where the going is heavy
2.30 Holy Motivation ran well over C&D last time on soft ground to land this modest event.
3.05 Amalfi Doug is a likeable chaser with good form here, but the ground is the worry, but same can be said for all of these.
½ pt double holy Motivation @ 15/8 Amalfi Doug @ 5/4 – pays 11/2 !
Selected Newmarket – good to soft on this undulating, galloping and stiff track
2.45 One of my favourite races of the season, the Greys race. A great spectacle with a big field of grey galloping for glory. This has a winnable look to it with both Glenn Coco and Chatham House dropping in trip on testing marks. Lethal angel has worrying form figures for win purposes with 4 seconds and 2 thirds in his last runs, but no reason why he wont be in the thick of it again and this could drop his way.
½ pt ew Lethal Angel @ 7/1
3.20 A tricky nursery as few of these juveniles have ever tries this trio so I’m chancing Mild Illusion ,a cosy winner last time at Windsor, who’s on a fair mark and pedigree suggests the longer trip no issue .
¼ pt ew Mild Illusion @ 8/1
3.55 PREMIUM RACE
4.30 Despite the small field no shortage of early pace which is good news for late player Jedhi , only a pound higher for a good win last time.
¼ pt win Jedhi @ 7/2
No Newmarket placepot
Nothing of interest at Market Rasen
Bath- good to soft on this sharp yet stiff track
4.40 A weak opener and a good opportunity for Society Star to double up on a workable mark and ground no issue.
½ pt win Society Star @ 15/8
5.15 A shock if this is not fought out between Grisons and Mofaaji, and despite the latte having a few lengths to find when they met at Windsor, he was fav on his debut and his main rival hasn’t done well since.
½ pt win Mofaajii @ 6/5
6.50 The soft ground will have a bearing on this and as a number of the form horses are now on testing marks, worth chancing Sir Roderic , whose held his form well off this mark of late and ground is fine.
¼ pt ew Sir roderic @ 9/1
7.20 Hard to pick between al of Queen’s Soldier, Uncertain Smile and Ragstone Cowboy, who all come here in form and are fine on the ground at this trip., but the C&D form of Uncertain Smile gives her the nod.
½ pt win uncertain Smile @ 7/2
7.50 The front running Delegate The Lord goes well here but is a better horse on firm ground. Saying that, he has a win here on good to soft and with a soft lead likely against a field of mainly hold up types, could pinch this from the front.
¼ pt win Delegate The Lord @ 11/2
