Yorkist 5.05 @ 15/2
Captain Moirette @ 5/1
Selected Bath- soft ground on this sharp but stiff track
2.10 This looks a match unless newcomer Raasel is any use, but this one would do well to shake up a couple of decent juveniles . The odds on fav is Amarillo star , who comes here on the back of a big run in the Redcar Super Sprint , but has looked a bit of a handful and the 7 pound claimer riding has never won here in plenty of tries. Jeanie B showed the right attitude with an all the way win at Ponty and followed that up with another good run when 2nd in the Hamilton mud . So no issues with the ground or probably track and this determined front runner could take some passing , especially with top track jockey Fran Norton in the saddle.
½ pt win Jeanie B @ 3/1
3.20 A valuable Class 1 event for fillies and the short priced fav is the unbeaten Irish filly Diamond Hill , who runs for Willie Mullins, who trained the winner last year. Willie is a master of placing his horses and will take some beating, but even money makes no appeal. Hard to fancy many on these terms, the exception is the admirable Sapa inca, a hold up type proven on the ground and trip and a small ew shouldn’t miss the mark.
¼ pt ew Sapa Inca @ 9/2
4.25 PREMIUM RACE
4,55 Not a deep finale and the consistent Hammy End can nail a deserved win with the return to this trip in his favour and should be Ok on the ground.
¼ pt win Hammy End @ 10/3
Selected Wetherby- good to soft on this flat and galloping track
4.00 These are all returning from breaks so best to be with one with a decent record running fresh. Niven was most consistent last year and no issues with mark, trip or ground. He did well first time back last year, but it did come after a shorter break than today, but still appeals, especially at long odds.
¼ pt ew Niven @ 16/1
4.35 I tip up and of course back Justatenner frequently and you can tell from his form figures, he rarely let’s us down . This late player has been nudged up a further 3 pounds for another good run last time but still has a stronger chance than most.
¼ pt ew Justatenner @ 6/1
5.05 There’ll be no hanging about in this with a host of front runners , who are unlikely to escape and this looks destined to a late player. Yorkist is highly capable but inconsistent, but often runs his best races when fresh. He likes it here and is on a good mark. Worth the risk as if he’s at his best, he should be landing this.
½ pt win Yorkist @ 15/2
5.35 Captain Moirette did really well last year landing two novice events, the second a very good performance in the Haydock mud and ended the season with a most reasonable effort in the Scottish Champion Hurdle when just outside the places on unsuitable quick turf. Slightly slower ground helps and could be too good for these .
½ pt win Captain Moirette @ 5/1
Selected Nottingham- heavy ground on this flat and galloping track
3.40 The last time Mr Top Hat encountered dep ground at this trip was when winning at Chester from the worst of the draw , and is only a pound higher today, making him a very nice longshot in a winnable contest.
¼ pt ew Mt Top Hat @ 12/1
4.45 A tough task for the fav Fantasy Keeper , who likes the track and ground but on a tough mark and the drop in trip no help .Erissimus Maximus has had a light time of things of late and is being aimed at an Autumn campaign. He shaped up OK last time and better can be expected down to a good mark and with SDS riding, who has a terrific record aboard the tip. He likes to front run, but others in the field have the same idea, which is not ideal, but can dispute and keep it going.
½ pt win Erissmus Maximus @ 7/1
5.15 A weak finale and despite the big field a short priced fav in Zapper Class, who does look vulnerable down in trip . Valentino sunrise has good form here in the mud and SDS rides. Her win record is poor , but the jockey is a dab hand at making this type’s mind up .
¼ pt ew Valentino Sunrise @ 6/1
No Nottingham placepot
No advice from Punchestown
Selected Kempton- all weather- polytrack
4.40 A very weak opener and the fact that Catapult won well last time is a huge positive and has to be a contender for the double, despite the wide draw. The fancied Twilighting is also badly drawn and this longer trip is no exactly ideal for this hard to win with type. Aiguilette put in a much improved run last time when trying to make all from a bad draw at Chelmsford City behind one who ran well next time under a penalty and had a solid yardstick back in 3rd. Much better drawn today and this could be his day .
1/2 pt ew Aiguelette @ 6/1
5.10 Both Pepper Bay and Qasbaz ran well over C&d last time and understandable that the former is a short priced fav tonight as that was her first run, but the tip looks cast iron ew.
½ pt ew Qasbaz @ 4/1
5.40 Another low grade event and few come here with high hopes. Pearl Jam is with a top stable and comes into this the form horse and just about worth a bet with little to beat.
¼ pt win Pearl Jam @ 2/1
6.40 A short priced fav in Khuzzam , who is lightly raced and 1 from 1 over C&D and a solid chance after a decent 2nd on turf last time. This is a big ask for the prolific De Vegas Kid returning from a break on a very testing mark while the well drawn C&d winner Lawmaking will run his race but unlikely to be good enough off this mark. Exec Chef takes a welcome drop in class and has a good record on the all weather. Drop in trip is not a major issue and appeals ew .
¼ pt ew Exec chief @ 7/1
7.10 The recent winners Redemptive and sonnet Rose have more to do with their penalties and the fav in Dawaaweem can only be the fav on the strength of his breeding, ownership as runs in maiden company very modest. Bint dandy is not as good as she was but has responded to the handicapper’s leniency of late and from a good draw and under a strong jockey, like her chance.
¼ pt ew Bint Dandy @ 8/1
Selected Southwell – al weather- fibresand
5.25 Not a deep race and the back to form Round The Island has to prove effectiveness on this specialist surface while Vallarta only landed a modest heat last time. The consistent Poeta Brasiliero ran well over C&D , especially as this front runner was held up for a late challenge , proving he’s tactically versatile. Looks the likeliest.
¼ pt win Poeta Brasiliero @ 7/4
6.25 Awa Bomba goes well here and won very tidily over C&D last time and in a weak event could be up to the hefty penalty, but I can afford to pass.
