12.00 The bookies have this right having Subliminal, Solfeggio and Highway One at the head of the market, but as Solfeggio switches from tapeta and with Highway One hardly convincing of late, a great opportunity for the down in grade Subliminal, who’s gone close a few times of late here , bjt that is the story of his life with just 1 win in 23, but this should be number 2.
½ pt win Subliminal @ 3/1
12.30 I’m finding it hard to get motivated by the fav in Arabian King who returns from a break for a new stable , goes up in trip and the best he’s ever done is 5th ! This is another weak heat and the consistent Presence Process has clear claims in this company , but his last win was almost 2 years ago ! Hard Toffee is on a good mark and ran OK on his recent comeback spin and worth a dabble with Adam Kirby booked .
¼ p win Hard Toffee @ 8/1
1.00A highly competitive Class 2 handicap , and a chance can be given to ALL. Furzig won well over C&D last time just chinning Original Choice and both have to be considered today. Both Battle of Marathon and Kyllachy Gala come here on the back of C&d in lower grade . I was with Kyllachy Gala last time in what looked a winnable heat and I’d be surprised if he doubled up today , but Battle of marathon is not out of this and neither is Pirate Jack. The consistent Pactolus is hard to rule out as he may just take to this longer trip but at the odds the nod goes to Creationist, effective over C&D off around this mark.
¼ pt win Creationist @ 6/1
1,35 Maqboola comes here on a hat-trick but would do very well to achieve it with the 10 pound hit. Tranchee has a bit to prove switching from fibresand but he will ensure a good gallop which could set this up for the late playing Fortune and Glory , who’s been threatening of late. Recent winner Exmoor Beast is far from out of this.
¼ pt win Fortune And Glory @ 6/1
2.10 A short priced fav in Electric Ladyland but I’m happy to find one to beat her as she returns from a 4 months break and goes up in trip. Little Brown trout landed a winnable event over C&d last time and with Zulu Dancer going up in trip , happy to be with the reliable Taste The Nectar , a strong finisher narrowly denied over C&d last time off this mark .
½ pt win Taste The Nectar @ 6/1
Selected Ascot – heavy ground on this stiff and galloping track
12.40 The Triumph Hurdle fav in Goshen aims to go 3 from 3 over hurdles and hard to see this 2/7 shot being troubled but of his rivals Nordano keeps running to decent levels and is taken for the Fc which will pay about 6/1
¼ pt fc Goshen – Nordano
1.15 You can eliminate these nicely on the grounds of trip and ground which offers a good opportunity to the very well treated Get on The Yager , who ran really well last time from the front in a marathon, that was later voided , but if trying to make all , would take some catching . Nearly Perfect was a surprise winner last time , but still has to be respected .
½ pt win Get on The Yager @ 7/2
1.50 At the weights this is a match between two marvellous mares in Magic Of Light , an incredible 2nd in the Aintree Grand National and no slouch over hurdles. She had a simple task on her comeback spin , but was having to work a lot harder than expected until her nearest rival took a late fall. Papagana is another terrific mare and comes here on the back of a terrific effort over C&D in a Grade 1 hurdle in the mud, only beaten a few lengths. Will take some beating.
¾ pt win Papagana @ 6/4
2.25 Bold Plan would do well to double up on his Haydock win with the 10 pound penalty, returning from a break and on deeper ground and a stiffer track. This race has a winnable look and I’m with last Year’s winner Ballymoy who switches back to hurdles after an unsuccessful time over fences. He’s only 2 pounds higher for last year’s win and did do it very well.
½ pt win Ballymoy @ 11/2
3.00 This is red hot and the fav is the progressive Espoir Du Guye , but he does have a massive 14 pound penalty . Domaine De L’isle comes here on a hat-trick and beat the reliable Sams Adventure fair and square last time and both have to enter calculations today as does the wonderfully consistent and talented mare In Happy diva. I thought Benny’s King did well last time at Wetherby under his massive penalty and it looked like it was the trip rather than the mark which proved his undoing and back in distance today, looks a lively longshot.
¼ pt ew Benny’s king @ 16/1
3.35 A grade 1 chase and it looks very much a match between Defi De seuil and Un de Scaux who crossed swords recently at Sandown with the former prevailing by a narrow margin , but revenge could be on the cards today as he’s won this race 3 times, loves der=ep ground and could even opt to try and make all .
¾ pt win Un De Sceaux @ 6/4
4.05 Falco Blitz comes here on the back of two big runs in handicap company and the drop in trip will help. Faustinovick is proving hard to win with and I can’t see this stiff C&D in the mud being of benefit to him. Blackfinch has run two good races of late, both at Southwell, and this is a very different track .
¾ pt win Falco Blitz @ 9/4
No advice from Navan
Selected Haydock- heavy ground on this flat and galloping track
12.55 I gave recent runaway winner Le Ligerian , who’s heavily penalised, recent winner and still unexposed Flamboyant joyaux and the in form Bonne Question pretty level chances so have to be with the latter at the odds.
¼ pt ew Bonne Question @ 8/1
1.30 PREMIUM RACE
2.05 Snookered was very well placed by connections to rattle off a 5 timer , but despite having the ground in his favour , he is rightly the longshot in this small but select field. Very hard picking from Thebannerkingrebel, Edwardstone and Stolen Silver, but the latter’s form on deep ground gives him the nod .
¼ pt win Stolen Silver @ 7/2
2.40 Champers on Ice is terrific racehorse who comes here on the back of two massive runs over hurdles , but a slight concern with him back over fences against seasoned chasers. Acting Lass is back in the groove but a worry regarding him on this flat and speedy track. Sandy Thomson has his string in tremendous fettle and saddles recent winner Geronimo who is hard to rule out despite the 5 pound penalty. The nod goes to topweight Definitely Red, one of the best chasers around in recent years and his latest effort when 5th over the National Fences underlines that he remains a force .
¼ pt ew Definitely Red @ 8/1
3.15 A Champion Hurdle Trial named fittingly after the legendary and now retired The New One . You can make a very solid case for all four of these and the fav in last year’s Triumph Hurdle winner Pentland Hills, would do very well to win,
3.45 No shortage of early pace here with the penalised pair of last time winners Bilingsley and Ard Chaos sure to want to dominate again as will Sir Egbert. Hard to see anything leading staying there with so much competition for the lead and I like the look of the back to form Clan Legend , who’s not weighted out of this on last year’s form and relishes the mud. Zizaneur was massively unlucky last time when taking a late fall with the race won and races off the same mark, so a very clear chance Fiddlers Bow is going well enough to be considered while veteran Ubaltique has won this race 3 times in the past .
¼ pt ew Clan Legend @ 14/1

El Hombre 6.15 @ 7/2
Holiday Magic 6.45 @ 2/1
Strawberry Jack 7.15 @ 11/4
Affluence 7.45 @ 7/1
4.45 A weak opener and the fav is last time winner Deeds Not words but I can’t see him doubling up with a penalty and operating from the worst of the draw. The rest are much of a muchness with poor win records .
6.15 Veteran Lancelot Du Lac can still go a bit and is still rated a lofty 92 and has the best of the draw, but should have been doing better of late . This is a big ask for Katheefa with a penalty and his recent win came on fibresand. El Hombre has been running his race in all recent tries and despite the wide draw, ticks the most boxes . He’s been running well on tapeta of late but has good form on this surface.
¾ pt win El Hombre @ 7/2
6.45 Another weak heat and the recent winners Brains and holiday Magic look the pair to concentrate on but Brains needs to dominate , which is unlikely from a wide draw and his 8 pound hit looks most excessive. Holiday Magic is also penalised , but only by 5 pounds, and on old form is still ahead of the game , but is of course a bit older . He too takes a handy pitch and from a good draw can double up .
½ pt win Holiday Magic @ 2/1
7.15 A big ask for Papa stour penalised 4 pounds for a decent effort last time on tapeta but a good opportunity for the prolific Strawberry Jack, just 2 pounds higher than his recent C&D win .
½ pt win Strawberry Jack @ 11/4
7.45 Affluence can be relied upon to run his race and the return to this trip is certainly in his favour , but not so the fav in Persian Sun. Bill cody’s recent win came on fibresand so likely to be wanting on this quicker surface. The tip is a hold up type and the jockey has a good record aboard . Like his chance.
½ pt ew Affluence @ 7/1
