£2.50 ew double
Berlin Tango 1.50 @ 11/2
Sunshine City 4.10
Beverley Fortune for a fiver
3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Astrozone 12.50 @ 4/1
Idoaplogise 2.35 @ 11/2
Wadacre galoubet @ 3/1
Selected Beverley- good ground on this stiff and galloping track
12.20 There’s a short priced fav in Navajo Spring who ran well on debut at Newcastle on the tapeta, but does have an all weather pedigree so not assured to appreciate the switch to turf . Harswell Prince ran promisingly on debut at Ponty and has the best of the draw today and makes ew appeal.
¼ p tew Harswell Prince @ 8/1
12.50 Not a deep sprint and despite taking a drop in grade and having the best of the draw, Iva Go doesn’t come into in convincing form . Astrozone is a most reliable type and made all well at Newcastle on her comeback spin . She showed promise last year on turf and worth risking despite a hefty penalty .
¼ pt win Astrozone @ 4/1
2.00 Another most winnable sprint and chancing C&D winner Atyaaf who’s well drawn and on a feasible mark but if he’s ready to go after a break is the question .
¼ pt win Atyaaf @ 6/1
2.35 Idoapologise hasn’t had much racing and after a good win at Thirsk went on to land a handicap at Newcastle . He recently resumed duties with a decent effort at Newcastle in a race which developed into a sprint and wasn’t beaten far. The likeable Bavardages was 2nd in that race but has the worst of the draw today , bad news for a front runner and hasn’t showed much on turf. From a good draw I expect the tip to run these down late on.
1/4 pt win Idoaplogise @ 11/2
3.10 Another modest event and I like the chance of dual track winner in Keep Up kevin who won his first two races last season. His mark is workable and makes more appeal than the consistent fav Silver Dust switching from the all weather.
¼ pt win Keep Up Kevin @ 10/3
3.45 Arabian Moon brings strong form into the race but warning bells are ringing as in 6 starts he’s hit the frame every time, a definite sign of a horse hard to win with , so no appeal at evens .
4.50 Clearance is an admirable type with 4 wins on the flat and a win over hurdles last year and also goes well fresh and despite a hefty 9 pound hit is not out of this. Slight preference is for the front running Wadacre Galoubet who looks set to relish this stiff C&D.
½ pt win Wadacre Galoubet @ 3/1
Just the two plays at Gowran Park – good ground on this undulating track
1.35 The front running feminista went close on her recent comeback spin and needs to be caught today .
¼ p tew Feminista @ 6/1
5.05 The handicapper is finally cutting some slack for the grand servant Aussie Valentine worth a dabble in an average heat .
¼ p tew Aussie Valentine @ 9/1
Royal Ascot- good ground on this stiff and galloping track
1.15 PREMIUM RACE
1.50 I was with Juan Elcano in the recent 2000 Guineas as he looked well capable of outrunning his odds of 50/1 , which he did with a brave 5th , but he did have a very hard race and would do well to be at the same level of form today . First receiver was mightily impressive at Kempton last time from the worst of the draw and despite taking a huge hike in class has to be respected . Berlin tango won as he wanted to in his comeback spin in a group 3 at Kempton and the form was seriously boosted yesterday when the 3rd horse landed a Group 2 at long odds. The switch to turf is no issue and despite the penalty makes most appeal . Russian Emperor runs for Aidan O’brien who rates him quite highly .
½ pt win Berlin Tango @ 11/2
2.25 PREMIUM RACE
3.00 Japan took off last season with 3 excellent wins and ending with a good 4th in the Arc but in both seasons he needed his first run back so could be vulnerable in this red hot contest . All of Addeybb, Headman and Lord North are prolific type who bring levels of form to the table well good enough to prevail but Addeybb would want the ground to soften . Barney Roy was rated much higher a few seasons ago but after missing two seasons hasn’t quite hit those highpoints since. He comes here on the back of two good wins in Meydan and at the odds is preferred.
¼ pt win Barney Roy @ 7/1
3.35 The Royal Hunt Cup and the first task is to identify where the early pace will come from and the likely front runners are the Mark Johnston pair of Cardsharp, who is unlikely to go all the way but Vale Of Kent is not ruled out despite his now testing mark. He’d had no luck In this race before but interesting that Mark Johnston keeps the faith and he does see this trip out really well John Gosden saddles a pair of useful and unexposed types in Alrajaa and Lord Tennyson who both are highly respected and are drawn either side of Vale Of Kent who’s in 12 and with Cardsharp in 1, low to middle is the place to be . Afaak won this last year and was 2nd two years ago and not badly treated and drawn so solid claims of the double.
¼ pt ew Vale Of Kent @ 25/1
4.10 The Windsor Castle stakes for 2yos and the field is full of first time out winners and many of then made all to win. There will be no prisoners taken early doors with so many fighting for early dominance in Astimegoesby, Chief of little Hawk , who showed lightning speed on debut, , Get It, Mighty Gurkha and Muker, I’m looking for one to come off the pace. Wesley A Ward has to be commended for making the trip across the Atlantic every year for Royal ascot and has picked up quite a few winners in juvenile events. He is two pronged in this with Sheriff Bianco , ridden by Oisin Murphy, but could be drawn out of this as all of the front runners are draw low to middle . Preference is for Sunshine City who gave them a start and a beating winning on his debut and a nice draw in 12. First time blinkers and Dettori is the saddle are both encouraging positives.
½ pt win Sunshine City @ 6/1
4.40 A wide open stayers handicap and I can understand why Ranch Hand is quite a short priced fav but at the odds like the chance of the Godolphin runner in dubai Horizon who isn’t much higher in the ratings for a smart win and has been going well at Meydan at this trip .
¼ p tew Dubai Horizon @ 18/1
Just the one play at Limerick
6.35 Global Pass remains a long standing maiden but has certainly responded well to the big drop in the ratings and was a close 3rd in a big field at Leopardstown doing well and finishing strongly from a bad draw. Much better drawn today and In a modest heat this could be his day .
½ pt ew Global Pass @ 11/2
Selected Chelmsford City – all weather – polytrack
4.45 A competitive opener and chances have to be given to Sur Mer, Sampers Seven and Lezardieux, 3 wins in his last 4 but switches from tapeta and hefty penalty to carry . limaro Prospect went close over C&D last season off around this mark , nicely drawn and appeals at the odds if ready to go after his break .
¼ pt win limaro Prospect @ 7/1
5.50 The Mark Johnston juveniles continue to rack up the wins and another is most likely with Night Moment after his good debut effort at this trip at Kempton, but happy to let it go at 4/6 .
6.20 A tricky handicap and despite now on a tough enough mark , the front running Royal Dynasty knows how to win and could take some reeling in . Human Nature has a bit to do with a hefty penalty from a tricky draw.
¼ pt win Royal Dynasty @ 7/2
7.50 Hats off to Three C’s , 4 wins and a 2nd in his last 5, the only reversal being when down in trip. He cast aside being merely a fibresand specialist with a facile all the way over this C&D last time out . He’s 5 pounds higher but is still looking ahead of the game and the lead is up for grabs tonight . This wont be easy with all of Andaleep, Furqaan and Caribbean Spring all going well off their marks and effective on the surface and trip .
½ pt win Three C’s @ 7/4
