Today’s Terrific treble pays £72
£5 treble Annangel 1.45 @ 6/4
Lorna cole 5.30 @ 11/10
Matthew flinders 3.30 @ 7/4
Selected Doncaster – good to firm on this flat and galloping track
12.30 The short priced fav is Digital who ran well on debut but it was on tapeta , so has it to prove on quick turf. An easy race to swerve
1.00She Do did well on debut coming 2nd . but the drop in trip wont help and it’s another race full of unknowns .
1.30 Mr Wagyu finally got back on the scoreboard after a 2 year gap, but in fairness to him has been knocking on the door and I was with him last time and the win must give him some confidence. The 4 pound penalty will test and I prefer a play on Redrosezorro, behind Mr Wagyu last time but ran well for a long way and has a good pull at the weights. James Doyle takes the reins and will do for me in a winnable heat . Double Up has a terrific record in Class 5 , a win and a place in just 2 starts, but his last win was 3 years ago and races mainly on synthetics nowadays .
¼ pt win Redrosezorro @ 6/1
2.00 A really good Class 3 sprint with plenty of early pace to assure a true run race. Ice Lord responded well to the drop in the ratings with a close 3rd at Newmarket, but this speedier track could find him out . Wentworth Falls is admirably consistent and is proven over C&D and ground, but this late player hasn’t rung the victory bell for over 3 years. I was with Cirton Major last time, as I have a few times of late as he’s down to a winning mark and today will be suited by the ground , C&d and how the race is likely to pan out as he’s a late player . Happy to play , again, at long odds.
¼ pt ew Citron Major @ 22/1
2.30 The vast majority of these have plenty to prove on turf and at this trip. The lightly raced Gherkin ran a fair race in a Windsor handicap last time and that could be good enough to land this .
¼ pt win Gherkin @ 7/1
3.00 The front running fantasy Believer is on a testing ,mark but ran well for a long way in a very decent Newbury handicap and may not be troubled much up front , giving him a decent chance of making all.
¼ pt win Fantasy Believer @ 5/1
3.30 Matthew Flinders did well in a big field maiden at Haydock at this trip on debut and looks a most solid fav in a modest maiden.
½ pt win Matthew Flinders @ 7/4
4.30 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Musselburgh- good to firm on this flat and quick track
12.45 Ventura mutiny brings Ok experience to the race but both Chase The Dollar and Innse Gall are interesting newcomers and the latter is worth a dabble as his value rocketed from £15,000 to £90,000 from foal to yearling , often a good sign .
¼ pt win Innse Gall @ 9/1
1.15 Ghatanfar showed last time with a good 2nd at Doncaster that he’s not just a tapeta horse and fast turf suits fine. This is a great opportunity but a bit short for me at 6/4 .
1.45 This looks a match between the lightly raced Annangel , who sluiced in at Beverley at this trip, making a mockery of her long odds. This is a very different track, but the stable has plenty of winners here. The clear danger is the in form Joshua R , but all of his runs have been on stiff tracks or over further, so could find it happening just too quickly round here .
¾ pt win Annangel @ 6/4
2.15 Full marks to Bal Mal, 3 wins and 2 seconds In his last 5 and is 2 from 2 on turf at 5 furlongs. He’s 6 pounds higher today and races on quicker ground from an outside draw and is ridden by a 5 pound claimer whose last win was 10 months ago ! So good reasons to try and find one to beat him. The sold 2nd fav is Sports Reporter who I can’t see being effective over this C&D dropping markedly in trip .Summer heights ran his best race last year over C&D on fast ground when a close 2nd off around this mark . May need the run back, but happy to play at long odds .
¼ pt ew Summer Heights @ 16/1
2.45 A tricky sprint handicap and this looks destined to go to a photo finish . A good pce is assured with Gowanbuster sure to go on, but could struggle to keep tabs early on with the flying C&d winner The Defiant as gowanbuster is better on tapeta on stiff tracks. The Defiant ran an amazing race at Ayr last year in a massive field, having the whole of the field on the stretch until weakening late on. I’m with him to make all on this speed track. All of Desert Ace, Glenliffer an Bashiba have good shouts in an open race , and all three will be flying at the finish .
¼ pt win The Defiant @ 3/1
3.15 The longer trip wont help Firewater or Framley Garth while the consistent Lady Scatterley wont have it her own way up front with a few other pacesetters in the field, but she has showed before that she can dispute and keep it going and rake her to edge out the in form Vampish .
¼ pt win Lad Scatterley @ 5/2
3.45 Little Ted did it well last time but the 6 pound hit from the worst of the draw is offputting . Moonlighting struck at Thirsk first time in a handicap and is only 2 pounds higher, but does have an extra furlong to travel which could bring King Lenox into the game as he was just three lengths behind Moonlighting and has a 5 pound pull and longer trip expected to help.
¼ pt win King Lenox @ 8/1
4.15 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Leicester – good to firm on this stiff and galloping track
4.40 A very weak opener with dual synthetics winner showing nothing switched to turf last time. Comeatchoo has dropped his guard the last twice and he’s become very hard to win with, Grandma drops in grade and could be too good for these but does have a first race on turf, making odds of 2/1 unappealing .
5.15 Another race full of professional losers and very hard to predict which of these will have their day in the sun today .
5.45 Tawaafoq is the form horse but jockey Sam Hitchcock is having a very hard time getting on the scoresheet. Kraka is more consistent than most of these, but wins hard to come by . He has won on quick turf and worth a dabble in another poor race .
¼ pt win Kraka @ 10/3
6.15 Another modest heat and happy to let this go also .
6.45 Chetan was gifted a soft lead over C&D last time and slipped the field for a 7 lengths win . The handicapper has been sensible raising him just 4 pounds , and he’s still below his highest winning mark . Good chance of leading and making all again in another modest event .
½ pt win Chetan @ 2/1
7.15 Yet another modest heat and not hard to eliminate the majority of these Surrajjah was a costly failure last time and held every chance so not for me . fast Track Flyer ran well over C&D last time but is penalised . Blairlogie wasn’t far behind in that race and has a big weight pull and could also improve for the run. Nice ew play .
¼ p tew Blairlogie @ 6/1
7.45 Sir Mark Todd , dual Olympic Gold medallist in equestrianism , a competitor in 7 Olympic Games and voted the horseman of the 20th century is now chancing his arm at the training game and he has a few expensive purchases in his yard. He runs the lightly raced Petit Bay, a close running on 4th last time at Windsor off the same mark and trip , and this stiffer track should be in her favour . Again , it’s hard to fancy many in this and as the in form Queen Mia is penalised and the longer trip a concern , it could be the first of many for Sir Mark .
½ pt win Petit Bay @ 2/1
Selected Chepstow- good ground on this undulating , galloping and quite stiff track
5.00 Myboymax is the fav after a fair effort on debut but it was over a longer trip on polytrack . Furlong Factor does have experience on turf at this trip which may give him the edge over Shine That Light .
¼ pt win shine That Light @ 9/4
5.30 Lorna Cole bounced back to form , just in time to cost me a lovely Trixie ! She remains well treated on her best form and the opposition is weak.
½ pt win Lorna Cole @ 11/10
6.00 The short priced fav is Bodak Yellow after a good debut run but it was on polytrack. Merry Secret ran a decent race last time on turf at Newbury and worth an ew play on that .
¼ pt ew Merry Secret @ 6/1
6.30 Eye Smiling has won his last two in style and his win at Chelmsford over Bal Mal has been well boosted by that win landing a subsequent hat-trick and looks good again, but happy to let go at a shade of odds on .
7.30 This has the look of a match with the even money fav Speedful coming here on the back of a good debut run on the Kempton polytrack but main rival Paws for thought ran well on turf on debut and gives the impression this stiffer track will suit .
¾ pt win Paws For thought @ 11/4
8.00 Lily Like did well when 2nd last time but a harsh 6 pound penalty makes it all that much tougher The nod goes to Evening Spirit who’s on a fair mark after some OK efforts last year .
¼ pt win Evening Spirit @ 7/2
8.30 Hammy End is certainly consistent but does come here on the back of a series of 6 seconds in his last 8 , but this isn’t deep race and is proven at the track , Could be his night
½ pt win Hammy End @ 3/1
