Christmas Night 2.20 @ 5/1
Feebi 4.25 @ 6/1
Lucky Lodge 7.00 @ 8/1
Selected Catterick- good to soft on this undulating and sharp track
12.15 Both Stay Smart and Tenth Century took their chances in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot and predictably both were well beaten , but Stay Smart did a lot better than his rival . He was a very cosy winner on debut on the Wolver tapeta and is well drawn today and on breeding the switch to turf shouldn’t be an issue and the stable has plenty of juvenile winners here . Belardie is interesting as she has showed little for her top stable and today’s jockey booking is far more positive than last time so could show up better today .
½ pt win Stay Smart @15/8
1.20. This has a winnable look to it as Champagne Bob didn’t really fire on his first start for his new stable and dropping to a good mark and despite the ease in going being in his favour, this tight C&D may well not be . Prissy Miss is a reliable type who remains on a good mark and comes here in good shape. She has been landed though with the worst of the draw but Paul Mulrennan runs this track well so all is not lost .
½ pt win Prissy Miss @ 7/2
1.50 Our Dave is a reliable soul and has obvious solid claims in this but preference is for the in form Inductive, who remains on a workable mark and chanced away from his beloved tapeta.
¼ pt win Inductive @ 5/1
2.20 I expected much better from The Big House last time but disappointed so would rather just watch him for the time being despite him ticking plenty of other boxes . Christmas Night comes here on the back of a much improved effort which came over C&D, not the first time he’s run well here and in 4 tries at the track has a win and 2 places .He stays on the same mark, which is slightly testing , but this prominent racer is well drawn and Ben Robinson rides him well . Looks a pretty safe ew play .
½ p tew Christmas Night @5/1
2.50 This longer trip has found out the market leaders in Affair and Calevade before so the consistent Kittys Grove could outstay these late on .
¼ pt win Kitty’s grove @ 7/1
3.50 A pretty tough race with all of oliver’s Betty, Sea Sister, whose stable was 4 from 4 yesterday ! and seven For a pound and preference for the latter who could well improve for the longer trip .
¼ pt wim Seven For a pound @ 7/1
4.25 Only two of these have ever rung that Victory Bell and one is the ageing Splash of Verve , who is consistent but preference is for Feebi, who is much lighter raced and landed a handicap well last year and the 2nd horse is a useful yardstick . he recently returned from a break where he finished some way behind Lady Shanawell . but it was at Ponty and this easier track will suit . This is not deep and an attractive play at the odds .
½ pt win Feebi @8/1
No advice from Bellewstown
Selected Bath- good to firm on this sharp but stiff track
2.10 Awsaaf was well entitled to win at Leicester last time off a mark of just 53 as he won over this C&d last season off a mark of 67 ! and can land this modest affair off a 5 pound higher mark .
½ pt win Awsaaf @ 11/8
2.40 Hot scoop bolted in over C&d last time on similar ground and despite the penalty will be hard to beat .
½ pt win Hot Scoop @ 11/8

4.15 Motamayiz has been threatening to get it right and after being taken off his hooves in the early stages , stormed home for a clear and easy win . He’s 6 pounds higher , but goes up 3 pounds from today, whatever happens . A few of is rivals have gone from the front before, so he’ll have is ideal strong pace to chase and can see him bounding up the hill for the double .
¾ pt win Motamayiz @ 6/4
4.50 The very hard to win with Arabian Moon disappointed badly last time, but the drop in trip could help, but he is still hard to support, despite this looking a winnable maiden .
5.20 Rock of Fire was backed off the boards at Windsor last time going up markedly in trip and handicapping for the first time for his top stable, but it all went very wrong at the start when the blindfold couldn’t be dislodged and lost a lot of ground , but somehow got into the race but was chinned on the line .He has the worst of the draw today and this stiffer track may not help . Derek Le Grand ran a tidy race at this trip at Leicester, so this C&D should suit and the 2 pound ease in the handicap gives him clear longshot claims.
¼ p tew Derek Le Grand @ 20/1
5.50 The inform Competition is odds on for this modest finale, but he’s been placed in his last 4 and not the type to plunge on at short odds. Boutan is capable and has plummeted to a very good mark and worth a dabble at long odds.
1/ 4 pt win Boutan @ 14/1

Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta
5.00 There wont be any hanging about with the back to form veteran just Glamorous sure to bomb out as will the well treated and triple C&D winner Just That Lord, who has been struggling of late and it is likely that the down in trip early pacer Wild Edric will have to get front rank early to have any chance, but this is unlikely from the worst of the draw .Savalas tried to make all at Donny last time in a winnable heat but was run down late on and despite being a C&D winner, his last effort here was a poor one . Magic J hasn’t had much racing and is certainly knocking on the door . and his comeback spin was a most encouraging run . He’s well drawn to pounce when the race falls apart in the final furlong and Oisin Murphy rides . The admirable Tabaahy always runs his race but is on a tricky mark going up in grade.
½ pt win Magic J @ 5/2
5.30 PREMIUM RACE
6.00 Dark Lion is a very short odds on fav after his good effort at Royal Ascot when 4th in the Coventry and this longer trip is in his favour but doesn’t have a drop of all weather blood in him and I’d rather play the Godolphin runner in future Vision who ran respectably on debut and is related to some very useful all weather types and the stable has a terrific record with juveniles here . Knight Salute is an interesting newcomer for a top stable , related to a stack of classy types and his price zoomed from £32,000 to £90,000 from foal to yearling, often a sign of good things to come .
¼ pt win Future Vision @ 4/1
7.00 A competitive claimer and the very wonderful veteran goes for the track 4 timer , but has a little to find at the weights, has been unlucky in the draw and the longer trip not ideal, nor is it for the in form Zapper Class who is also proven on the surface . The reliable Lucky Lodge runs this C&d well and has a good chance at the weights and looks a most solid ew play .
½ p tew lucky Lodge @ 8/1
8.00 Mr kodi made all last time when upped to this trip at Chelmsford City and is well drawn to attempt similar today. He’s unproven on this surface but runs for the top stable here , so worth a dabble in a weak affair.
¼ pt win Mr kodi @ 5/2
8.30 the fav is the long standing maiden in Fountain of Life, who has a patchy profile and I’m prepared to take on from a tricky draw dropping in trip and switching to tapeta . I back Seaforth often round here and has done me a couple of long priced favours, including last time , but the penalty makes life tough . False Id doesn’t win many but is running Ok of late. On a good mark and proven at the track . Could just drop his way .
¼ pt ew False Id @ 6/1
9.00 Labeebb shaped up very nicely on his debut at Kempton and the longer trip is a smart move . He’s the one to beat but there are a couple of lightly raced ones from big stables and in famous colours making his short odds not attractive .
