Today’s fortune for a fiver
3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Ginger Jam 12.30 @ 11/2
Charlie D 5.10 @ 11/2
Dick Datchery 6.00 @ 3/1
Selected York – good ground on this flat and galloping track
12.55 A tough task for the fav in Chairmanic who after a good win in the Haydock mud, drops in trip, is up markedly in the ratings and will be tested by the quicker ground. Clareybelle ran well for a long way over C&d last time and the drop in the ratings will help .
¼ pt win Clareybelle @ 11/4
1.30 Profounding is the short priced fav after a dominant performance first time on turf and first time for David O’Meara but the 8 pound hit will test . Ulshaw Bridge has been dropping in the ratings and showed much more last time. Shouldn’t be far away.
¼ pt ew Ulshaw bridge @ 7/1
2.05 This wont take much winning with recent Salisbury winner award Scheme penalised a hefty 8 pounds , Dawaaween now high in the weights and a preference for soft ground . A good pace is on the cards as this pair both like to dominate and could well compromise each other’s chance battling for the lead . Black Lotus is a little high in the weights but is at her best coming off a strong pace under a patient ride and is preferred to both Earth and Sky and golden Hind who both have stamina doubts .
¼ pt win Black Lotus @ 5/1
2.40 A cracking Group 2 and NONE of the field can be ruled out and are all pretty closely matched at the ratings. The fav is the highest rated in Elwazir, but it’s been a while since he last won and has looked short of pace at critical times.Regal Beauty is overpriced for his chance and worth a dabble .
¼ pt win Regal Reality @ 9/1
3.15 PREMIUM RACE
3.50 There’s a stack of early pace on here with recent C&d winner Tudhoom doing well dropping to this trip for the first time but will have company up front from the prolific all weather winner Queen of Kalahari , who’s worth a try on grass, but both of these are now on testing marks. Abate is also likely to join in the fun up front , but is found wanting late on at this trip . Normandy Barriere is a bit in and out nowadays but certainly on a good mark and of on a going day , wont be far away.
¼ pt ew Normany Barriere @ 8/1
4.25 The ex-Irish Medicine Jack finally took advantage of the handicapper’s generosity with a good 2nd at Ayr last time when dropped in trip, but remains on a long losing run , but wont be far away . The capable Look out louis put in an improved run last time and the likes of Roundhay Park and the ultra consistent Marvel can’t be ruled out. Big Lachie got back on the scoresheet recently with a good win at Donny and this late player backed that up with a good 2nd at Bath off around this mark. Hollie doyle has struck up a good partnership and could nail this late on .
¼ pt ew Big Lachie @ 7/1
No York placepot
Selected Newmarket – good to firm on this undulating , galloping and stiff track
12.30 Hans Solo Berger has won 3 of his last 5, including over C&D and te 4 pound hit could have been worse but still on a testing mark . This is not deep with Blue De Vega still very hard to win with and the capable Thegreatestshowman could do with a longer trip . Ginger Jam took off last year winning 5 times from 6 races and after a nice long break ran well at Donny but disappointed at Newcastle . I was very much with him that night and so were plenty of others as he was well supported and could make amends .
½ pt win Ginger Jam @ 11/2
1.05 Progressive Rating has won his last three but worth taking on today off a very stiff mark and on quick ground. All of Mr Kiki , Love powerful , theotherside and Broughtons Gold have claims despite testing marks and I prefer a play on the admirable Troubadour, who showed he has trained on with a good 2nd at Ponty off this tough mark and never got involved behind Progressive Rating over C&D last time from a poor draw.
¼ pt ew Troubadour @ 16/1
2.15 Plenty of in form fillies here but all penalised while Pure beauty is on a tough mark in her first handicap . Star in the Making was a close 4th last time at this trip at Salisbury , so should handle this demanding C&d .
¼ pt win Star In the Making @ 9/2
2.40 An average maiden and the only winner in the field Maurimo has a very tough task carrying a penalty and switching to turf . This looks a match between the consistent Defence Girl, who may try and make all and The Godolphin horse in Declaring Love a strong finishing 2nd over C&d in a deep maiden and looks a very solid fav .
¾ pt win Declaring Love @ 6/5
3.25 Very hard to fancy many in this and worth trying the back to form destroyer who finally responded to the big drop In the ratings with an all the way win at Leicester . He was much better a few seasons back and the win may well revive him .
¼ pt ew Destroyer @ 12/1
4.00 Nicklaus is now on a good mark and did well stepped up to this trip last time when trying to make all. If he could get to the front today he would take some beating in this winnable race but a bit worried about Joyful Mission taking him on early . If he manages to get to the front under no pressure , I’ll be having a few extra quid in running.
½ pt win Nicklaus @ 11/4
4.35 This looks an easy task for Labeeb , despite switching from the all weather , but not for me at odds on .
5.10 Charlie D certainly knows how to win and made all in most tenacious style over C&D and is only 2 pounds higher today .He may have some company up front from recent winner Mondain, but at good odds in a winnable heat , worth that risk , as he can come off the pace to win.
½ pt win Charlie D @ 11/2
Selected Ascot- good to firm on this stiff and galloping track
1.50 PREMIUM RACE
2.25 A massive field for this fiercely competitive Class 2 handicap and we are very likely to get a good run for our money with the reliable Cliffs Of Capri who has a terrific record over C&D in big fields and despite a tough enough mark , promises not to be far away.
¼ pt ew Cliffs Of Capri @ 12/1
3.00 Tsar looked very good landing a handicap last time and could be ahead of the game but Tell Me all did little wrong last time and looks overpriced for his chance in a good field .
¼ pt ew Tell Me All @ 12/1
3.35 The incredibly wonderful Enable a dual winner of this Group 1 and the Arc only has two rivals, both trained by Aidan O’Brien , and will be doing their utmost to put the superstar out of her stride. She lost little in defeat on her comeback spin down in trip and Dettori may opt to make all . She’s 4/9 which should look appealing for big hitters .
4.10 This has a winnable look to it and worth risking the in form Frontispiece , effective at the trip and on a good mark , on ground quicker than ideal.
¼ pt win Frontispiece @ 8/1
No Ascot placepot
no advice from Ireland today
Selected Donny – good to firm on this flat and galloping track
3.45 Credible is the 4/7 fav after a good debut run at York on easy ground. This should be a formality if handling quicker ground .
4.55 Not a deep maiden and the odds on fav Tinker Toy is 1 from 1, winning well at Salisbury and despite looking hard to beat today, has the dreaded penalty and switches to a speed track .
5.30 PREMIUM RACE
6.00 This is not a deep race and offers a great opportunity for the lightly raced Dick Datchety to supplement a good win at Ayr and should be up to the hefty 6 pound hit against beatable opposition.
½ pt win Dick Datchery @ 3/1
6.30 Far too many ifs and buts in this winnable sprint
7.00 This has a winnable look to it and I like the look of Hlaitan , no issues with trip or mark , but is switching to fast ground.
¼ pt win Hlaitan @ 4/1
7.30 Despite the big field hard to get excited about many in this. Maqtal runs in famous colours and for a top stable and ticks boxes for trip and mark but the wide draw is an issue .
¼ pt win Maqtal @ 7/1
8.30 colony Queen’s bubble burst last time and is now on a tough mark and the longer trip an issue . the hat-trick seeking Tronada would prefer much softer ground and now on a tough mark. The coast looks most clear for the lightly raced Almareekh , who cost a million dollars and looked very good wining easily at Yarmouth last time and on a generous mark on that performance and the longer trip looks no issue.
¾ pt win Almareekh @ 5/6
