today's Fortune for a fiver
50p ew trixie & 50p ew treble
Dono Di Dio 3.55 @ 12/1
Ragstone View 4.25 @ 6/1
Cloud drift 4.50 @ 22/1
Selected Salisbury – good ground on this stiff , undulating and galloping track
12.20 Twilight Song looks a most solid fav after a good debut run at Windsor .
3/4 pt winTwilight Song @ 6/5
12.50 A weak handicap and despite Old News having the best chance, happy to let go at shortish odds .
1.25 PREMIUM RACE
1.55 Breckland got loose on the Kempton polytrack, but this is a much bigger ask, especially switching to turf . You could give a clear chance to all of his 5 rivals, but I’d be very surprised if Breckland doubled up .
2.25 Another tough small field handicap. Zezenia is the worthy fav and has to go close as should the in form Willa. Khayal got it right could style last time and as the penny has dropped, the double could be on .
¼ pt win Khapt win Khayaal @9/2
2.55 Seventh Kingdom brings clearly the strongest form to the table and looks tailor made for this stiff C&d .
¾ pt win Seventh Kingdom @ 6/4
3.25 Plenty of early pace on here with Just Glamorous, Airshow and Moveonup all sure to bomb out and equally sure not to prevail . This looks a match between the in form pair of Rewayyat and Whelan’s Way and the latter gets the nod at this trip .
½ pt win Whelan’s Way @ 11/4
3.55 The consistent Dono Di dono comes here on the back of a close 2nd over C&D and last season also went close over C&D off a much higher mark . This looks open , but promises not to be far away.
¼ pt Dono Di dono @ 12/1
4.25 The massively in form Bourgeois goes for the 4 timer but would do very well to collect off such a high mark . Ragstone View is a regular in amateur rider events and won last season at this trip and mark under today’s jockey , the very able Pat Millman and clear claims today .
¼ pt ew Ragstone View @ 6/1
Selected York – good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.45 A really tricky opener with the in form youngster Zabeel Champion heading the market but questions to be answered up in the ratings and trip , and the 2nd fav Alfaatik returns from over a year off and struggled at around this trip last time . Preference is for Mark Johnston’s second string in King’s Caper , who was aimed at some ambitious targets earlier in the season but comes here on the back of two most solid efforts at this trip and mark looks workable .
¼ pt ew Kings Caper @ 15/2
2.15 PREMIUM RACE
2.45 The Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes for juveniles, named after a legendary sprinter , who raced 250 years ago ! This is very tricky with 7 of the 10 last time winners and half of the field are unbeaten so capable of being better than what they’ve already showed. I’m happy to play a longshot in Lauded , who runs in famous colours and after an impressive win at Haydock on debut on easy ground , was drawn out of it at Royal Ascot, but still ran respectably and comes here on the back of a 3rd in a Group 3 , finishing alongside Yazaman, who is much shorter in the market today . C&d and ground should suit .
¼ pt ew Lauded @ 16/1
3.15 The group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes and the very short odds on fav is probably the best sprinter in Europe in Battaash, who is 2 from 2 this season landing the Group 1’s at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood , running to his level of 122. He takes in some interesting New Kids on the Block when it comes to top class sprinting and Art Power is a perfect 3 from 3 this season , and hasn’t been pressed to win any of them. He’s a prominent racer who just keeps on going , at a rapid rate , and could give the Champ something to think about . Moss Gill won over C&D last time with another young and talented sprinter close up . A strong pace is on the cards today which may well not suit the fav who likes to race prominently and then kick on , but that may well not be that easy in this field. A ‘ali is unlucky not to be unbeaten at this trip . He was an unlucky 2nd on this debut and was drawn out of it when trying a Breeder’s Cup sprint , but he’s won his other four . He’s come from last to first in his last two but is also effective when racing close to the pace and this could be run to suit .
¼ pt ew A’ali @ 8/1
4.15 This is hard to get a handle on and at the odds prefer a play on the ultra consistent Angel Power , chancing her going up in trip .
¼ pt wi Angel Power @ 6/1
4.50 A wide open finale but this C&d may well not suit the fav in Eastern World . The hat-trick seeking Mon Choix has a massive 13 pound penalty to overcome and would do very well to get involved . Overwrite unluckily lost his race in the Stewards Room last week, but the wide draw wont help this early pacer . At the odds I like the look of Her Majesty’s Cloud drift a good 2nd off his new mark last time which gives him most solid ew hopes .
¼ pt ew Cloud Drift @ 22/1
Selected Newton abbot – good to soft on this flat and sharp track.
3.50 The massively consistent Templepark always runs is race but does have a double penalty and ground soft enough , but wouldn’t surprise me if this cracking little racehorse notched the C&D hat-trick .
¼ pt win Templepark @ 6/4
4.20 An easy novice event to leave alone.
4.55 An ultra competitive good quality Class 3 chase but there’s so little between them and the short list too long .
5.25 Grageelagh Girl continue to knock at the door and it could finally open tonight on slower ground and a shorter trip .
¼ pt win Greelagh Girl @ 4/1
5.55Saintbury Girl sluiced in last time and the 2nd horse has won well since under a penalty . Not a big ask .
¼ pt win Saintbury Girl @ 11/8
6.25 All of these are struggling to get their noses in front so worth trying the down in grade and in form from the flat Zlatan .
¼ pt win Zlatan @ 9/2
6.55 My Lady Grey sluiced in last time over C&D and the penalty unlikely to stop the double.
¼ pt win My Lady Grey @ 6/4
7.25 Another uncompetitive heat and another fav , a winner last time, carrying a penalty , but Cheltenham Da Vaige has found a soft race .
¼ pt win Cheltenham Da Vaige @ 9/4
Newton Abbot placepot
Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta
4.30 Not a deep maiden and one of the form horses at around this trip is Maker of Light, who runs for a top stable and likely to do better on synthetics .
¼ pt win Maker of Light @ 9/2
5.05 It wasn’t a deep nursery which Annie Rose won over C&d last time , but she did it well and could well be up to defying the stiff 6 pound hit, but not for me at evens with a host of dark horses In the field .
5.35 PREMIUM RACE
6.05 If you’re looking for winning form amongst this field, you have to delve back quite a way . plenty in this field are consistent and frequently run their race but winning is another matter . Teepe Time did well over C&D last time in a weak event and another good effort can be expected from this prominent racer from the best of the draw, and something has to win !
¼ pt ew Teepee Time @ 11/1
6.35 Youngster Locked N Loaded did well here over the Winter with 2 wins and 2 places and ran well on turf recently returning from a break . He went close here off a slightly higher mark and can defy a tricky wide draw .
¼ pt win Locked N Loaded @ 7/2
7.35 The front running Lovers Gait is 2 from 2 this season, both times at Bath and both times winning very well . The 4 pound hit could have been far harsher and at juicy odds worth chancing on the surface
¼ pt ew Lovers Gait @ 12/1
