3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Mercian Prince 3.20 @ 4/1
Getawytonewbay 3.50 @ 9/4
Doing Fine 4.25 @ 4/1
Selected Uttoxeter – good to soft on this in parts undulating and sharp with a galloping straight
12.30 Despite both carrying penalties , this looks a match between the promising pair of Bit on The Side and Miss Farage . Preference is for the latter as her main rival races usually around right handed tracks, but at evens I can pass .
1.05 Global Agreement was only modest on the flat but put in a good performance on his hurdles debut with a 2nd at Cartmel , but that is a unique track and at a shade of odds on, I can pass .
1.40 Cubswin did well winning over C&D last time beating Beyond The Clouds, but both were returning from long breaks and may well not go on from those good runs. Purple king is up in grade and the ratings but not out of this ???
2.10 The odds on fav is Skylanna Breeze but the 10 pound hit will test .Corrie Lake landed a bumper last season and has been shaping up OK in decent novice events . She’s on a fair mark and trip should be Ok .
¼ pt ew Corrie lake @ 18/1
2.45 This has a winnable look to it and I like the look of a couple of lightly raced types, going up in trip and handicapping first time for good stables . Fc time
¼ pt rev fc Del duque, - crémant
3.20 Western Miller won really well over C&d last time, picking up the brave front running Mercian Prince, who can gain revenge today on much better terms. Solomon Grey is 2 from 2 here and in form but still not convincing at this trip .
½ pt win Mercian Prince @ 4/1
3.50 Getawytonewbay landed a 9/1 winning Nap for Members last time and despite the 6 pound hit, will be even more potent at this longer trip and will be hard to beat .
½ pt win Getawytonewbay @ 9/4
4.25 The hat-trick seeking Kings Temptation likes it here but now racing on a very tough mark . one Forty seven won well last time, but penalty and longer trip no help. Doing fine is a regular in staying handicaps and did pretty well on his comeback spin in a far better race over C&d and this dour stayer can assert late on .
½ pt win Doing Fine @ 4/1
Selected Sandown – good to soft on this stiff and galloping track

City Code 12.55 @ 9/4
Our Oystercatcher 1.30 @ 8/1
Dream World 3.55 @ 5/1
Gas Monkey 5.00 @ 5/1
12.55 City Code runs in famous colours and was transformed by a drop in trip , switching to nurseries and trying soft ground with a 3 lengths win at Chepstow making all , and the double looks very much on.
½ pt win City Code @ 9/4
1.30 Quite a few in form types with 5 last time winners, but all of these have more to do under penalties. Our Oystercatcher is a regular over C&d and will again try to make all, which could happen today down in the ratings, from a good draw and on ideal ground .
½ pt ew Our Oystercatcher @ 8/1
2.05 Quite an open event but on the ground , the nod goes to the capable Luigi Vampa, but all of Brilliant Light, tenbury Wells, New Chapter and Cozzone are feared .
¼ pt win Luigi Vampa @ 6/1
2.40 PREMIUM RACE
3.15 A wide open 3yo full of promising types from good stables Jean Baptiste is going Ok off his mark and this Stiff C&D in the mud should suit .
¼ pt ew Jean Baptiste @ 11/1
3.55 This will be tougher for recent winner Queen’s Course under a stiff penalty , trying a stiffer track , softer ground and racing from the worst of the draw. This wont take much winning .
½ pt win Dream World @ 5/1
5.00 A tricky handicap for apprentice jockeys, so they will probably go too quick and bring the stamina of in form mud loving Gas Monkey into play . Not well drawn but an able jockey rides
½ pt win Gas monkey @ 5/1
Selected York – good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.50 A wide open start to Ebor day and very few can be ruled out, but I would be surprised if the prolific mud loving Miss O’Connor landed this on drying ground .
2.25 PREMIUM RACE
3.00 Shine So Bright won this last year with a bold display of front running . He has a good race make up for trying to go all the way with his rivals known for being played late . SDS a great jockey from the front .
½ pt ew shine So Bright @ 11/1
3.40 The richest handicap in Europe, the Ebor and as usual , devilishly difficult to solve . Anything crossing The Irish Sea has to be noted and Willie Mullins runs talented mare True Self , who ran a cracker in this last year and has to make the short list as does Joseph O’Brien’s Pondus , likely to appreciate the extra yardage and runs in a handicap for the first time. Both are well drawn and worth splitting the stake . There are many with big shouts such as the prolific and classy Trueshan, the fav Fujaira Prince , Godolphin’s selected Ghostwatch , top notch hurdler Verdana blue and 6 timer seeking Monica Sheriff , who would do very well from a wide draw and first time back this season .
¼ pt ew each – true self @ 14/1 Pondus 9/1 - small rev fc ??
4.10 PREMIUM RACE
4.40 PREMIUM RACE
5.10 This is the kind of race I love, a sprint handicap full of front runners off challenging marks , so very much set up for a late player on a fair mark , but sadly nothing fits the bill, so it now has an open look.
No York placepot
I’m only having the one play at The Curragh
3.10 At the weights, looks very much a match between the pair of useful sprinters in Speak in Colours and Make A Challenge, and the bookies agree , but on the soft ground and at this trip, the former is a confident tip,
¾ pt win Speak in Colours @ 2/1
Chelmsford City all weather – polytrack
4.20 The bookies look to have this right concentrating on the downgraded pair of Cirrus and Nelson Gay, but by virtue of a better draw, former gets the nod .
¼ pt win Cirrus @ 3/1
4.50 Mojandil runs in famous colours and didn’t come cheap and did little wrong when 3rd on debut . Nicely drawn and bred for the surface , looks a solid fav.
½ pt win Mojandil @ 2/1
5.25 Not a deep race and the well drawn front running Champagne Supernova has clear claims but the nod goes to the back to form and well treated Swiss pride, who runs this track well .
¼ pt winSwiss Pride @ 10/3
6.25 Should be a walk in the park for the useful Arctic Victory , but is odds on .
6.55 A good quality Class 3 handicap but really difficult to work out with so many improving young horses in the field .
7.25 A really competitive good quality Class 2 handicap and I like the look of the ultra consistent and determined Boccacio . He won his first 3 races and has lost little in defeat in two narrow defeats in Listed races. He’s on a fair mark and is 1 from 1 on this surface .
½ pt ew Boccaccio @ 6/1
7.55 Extrodinar won well over C&D off a slightly lower mark when last seen, but it was 5 months ago, so could well be ring rusty . Cry Havoc also has a bit to prove In his hat-trick bid up in trip and another returning from a break . Radetsky is another hat-trick seeker and is looking ahead of the game but the widest of draws a big drawback . Juan Les pins is well drawn and hinted that wins are possible off this mark , trip and surface. The back to form Quick Breath has more to do under a hefty penalty .
¼ pt win Juan Les pins
Happy to let the last two races go, both big field low grade handicaps for apprentices with plenty with similar chances .
