Today’s Delicious Double
£2.50 ew double
Flying Dragon 1.00 @ 4/1
Lough Salt 4.30 @ 11/2
Selected Newcastle- all weather – tapeta. The track is stiff and galloping
12.50 Rockley Point is a regular here and can be relied upon to run his race . He ran well recently on turf but next time was unlucky missing the kick then suffering interference early on, so draw a line under that one . He’s a prominent racer and nicely drawn on the stands rails . He’s on a workable mark and a nice ew play .
¼ pt ew Rockley Point @ 12/1
1.25 The even money fav is Bellisime who ran well on debut in a hot York Group 2 , but that looks short enough for me switching to Newcastle against a handful of dark horses .
2.00 Fivethousandtome cost almost £half a million and has some fancy entries . He was odds on for debut but was beaten by Bahrain Pride , a smart winner of a Listed event at Ripon since . You would expect a clear win, but he’s 4/7 .
3.35 PREMIUM RACE
4.45 The consistent Be Proud goes well here but is now on a testing mark and I prefer a play on the reliable Boudica Bay , effective over C&D and despite being a few pounds too high , wont be far away . Finishes fast.
¼ pt ew Boudica Bay @ 8/1
Selected Salisbury – good to soft on this undulating , stiff and galloping track
1.00Flying Dragon is rarely far away but has a rotten win record , but he was 2nd in this last year under the same jockey and comes into it in his usual consistent form . This is not deep and could drop his way .
½ pt ew Flying dragon @ 4/1
1.35 Another modest handicap and a clear chance can be given to the consistent Wightman, a decent 3rd over C&d on similar ground last time
1/4 pt ew Wightman @ 4/1
3.10 A red hot Group 3 for juvenile fillies and the fav is the hat-trick seeking Happy Romance , who has looked really good of late and along with the useful Time scale brings the best form to the race . Plenty of these are totally unexposed and likely to improve upon their current form but I always have a close look at anything crossing The Irish sea and in this case it’s Jessica Harrington’s consistent filly in Dickidooda, who’s been running In Listed Class and doing pretty well and looks ready for the step up in trip .
¼ pt ew Dickiedooda @ 8/1
3.40 PREMIUM RACE
4.15 the capable Moonraker took a step forward last time dropped to this grade and in a modest heat , could nail an overdue win .
¼ pt win Moonraker @ 6/1
4.50 Naswaary has run three times and been 2nd three times, and has been nudged up 3 pounds . He returns after a break too so preference is for the consistent Berkshire Legacy who has strongly hinted that he’s capable of wins off this mark. Ground and C&d fine .
¼ pt win Bekshire Savvy @ 9/2
Selected – Haydock -very soft ground on this flat and galloping track
1.10 Daysan is 1/3 to land this after a good debut on the Newbury mud , but stamina for this longer trip not assured and I wouldn’t recommend buying money on this .
2.50 Looks a match between the progressive Al Rufaa, going for the 4 timer against the capable , but presently hard to win with Ostilo , but this one is proven in the grade and ground .
¼ pt win Ostilo @ 5/2
3,20 Alpine minstrel has won her last four , with the minimum of fuss and the recent 5 pound hit could have been far harsher . She’s proven on the ground , trip and type of track and Josie Gordon gets on very well with her . The fav is the lightly raced Sun Bear a good winner on fast ground at Windsor, and ran well on heavy last year . Goes up in trip , but the tip still looks way ahead of the game .
½ pt win Alpine Minstrel @ 15/8
Selected Southwell- good ground on this flat and very sharp track
4.00 The back to form Agentleman has been pushed a harsh 7 pounds for a good 2nd last time and with Wisecracker now on a tough mark, chance for the well handicapped Cillian’s Well, 1 from 1 over C&D and comes here on the back of an improved run. Dragon Khan is rarely far away and not out of this .
¼ pt ew Cillian’s Well @ 7/1
4.30 Lough Salt ran well over C&d a few starts back and baked that up with another good effort. Up in the weights , but looks solid ew in a winnable heat .
½ pt ew Lough salt @ 11/2
5.00 Emmarelli was most impressive winning her bumper on debut, winning as she liked , and despite the penalty , could be pretty good .
¼ pt win Emmarelli @ 10/3
6.00 PREMIUM RACE
7.00 Leroy Leroy was once pretty useful on the flat and has run well in both starts over hurdles, the latest over C&D . Both Ladykiller and staithes are though stacked with potential .
¼ pt win Leroy Leroy @ 11/4
Selected Chelmsford City – all weather – polytrack
5.15 Not a deep maiden and the short priced fav Majd Al arab could be vulnerable up in trip, new to the surface and from a bad draw .
6.20 Frankie Dettori picks his race days carefully nowadays and significant he comes here for just the one mount in Godolphin’s pitcher’s Point , proven over C&D and on a fair mark . He front runs and may not get his own way up front , which is enough to put me off at short odds .
6.50 The most likeable and ultra consistent Royal dynasty has the best of the draw to adopt usual front running duties but is up in the weights , trip and grade and there are other front runners in the field. Blame Culture goes well here and will appreciate the longer trip today . wasn’t far behind Royal Dynasty and alnaseem here recently and with a pull in the weights and extra yardage , nice ew play .
¼ pt ew Blame Culture @ 7/1
7.20 She has the worst of the draw and is new to the surface, but it will be a shock if 4/7 shot Bint Australia can’t land this as she’s way ahead on form.
8.20 An interesting sprint handicap and the well drawn Never Dark is likely to take them along , but is high enough in the weights and drops in trip and will be pressurised by Summit Fever , despite this one’s bad draw, The likely strong early pace makes this likely to go to a late player and initially I was drawn to the in form Peggie Sue , but her form on polytrack is not her best . She Can Dance was a smart winner over C&d last year off a similar mark but has struggled on turf this season , but has been set some stiff tasks . She’s well drawn and as she’s 1 from 1 over C&d , attractive play at the odds.
1/4 pt win She Can Dance @ 10/1
8.50 The consistent youngster Grand Canal has a bit to prove up in trip markedly and is new to the surface , and his mark is tough enough . Bird For Life is in top form and was only narrowly denied at this trip at Lingfield last time . Stays on the same mark and no reason why she wont go well here .
½ pt win Bird For Life @ 5/1
Chelmsford City placepot
