thinking of You 2.25
Indigo Girl 3.35 @ 10/3
Angel power 4.45 @ 9/2
Selected Newmarket – soft ground on this undulating , stiff and galloping track
12.45 A tricky opener but as Bellazada is proven on the ground , trip and type of track and has run to a decent level looks a nice ew play against the fav in Haija who has a bit to prove down in trip and on soft ground .
¼ pt ew Bellazada @ 7/1
1.50 PREMIUM RACE
2.25 A group 3 for juvenile fillies and a slight question mark regarding the fav in Nazuna who has been reassessed since a big run in a Group 2 last time , which may well have flattered here , as she’s been bunged up a stone and soft ground is new to her . It’s always worth noting anything crossing The Irish Sea and Joseph O’Brien brings thinking of You, who was an unlucky 3rd when fav in a Group 3 at The Curragh. She is the one to beat at the ratings and no issues with ground and probably fine over C&D .
1/2 pt win Thinking of You @ 3/1
3.00 PREMIUM RACE
3.35 Very hard to pick between indigo Girl , Isabella Giles and the Irish pair in Pretty Gorgeous and Shale, but the former is 2 from 2 and been winning as she pleased and has no issues with the ground and this kind of track.
½ pt win Indigo Girl @ 10/3
4.10 This is mightily open with so many prolific and progressive 3yos . Doubling Dice has no ground or trip issues and the C&d should be fine. Unexposed and a possibility in an open event .
¼ pt ew Doubling Dice @ 8/1
4.45 The pair to beat at the weights are clearly Magic Lily and Franconia but both come here under a cloud so prefer to concentrate on a pair of progressive and progressive types, with Angel Power just getting the nod over Majestic Moor on the ground and track .
½ pt win Angel Power @ 5/1
Selected York – soft ground on this flat and galloping track
1.00A tricky nursery sprint with plenty of early pace . The fav is the in form Bedford Flyer , but he’ll have company up front , is on a stiff enough mark and unproven on soft . With so much early pace I’m prepared to give Hey Mr another chance as he’s on a good mark for his ability , proven on the ground and trip and with a top stable .
¼ pt ew Hey Mr @ 7/1
1.35 The very wonderful Logician . last year’s St Leger winner is now a perfect 6 from 6 and returned from a slight training injury to win well on his recent comeback spin , but could be vulnerable today second race back after a break and this is the softest ground he’s ever faced. He has a big advantage at the weights , but wouldn’t be sticking my mortgage on at 1/4 . All 3 rivals are useful but the pick is the mud loving Highland chief .
2.05 This is wide open and lat year’s winner Crowethorpe has obviously been trained for the double , having only his 3rd race of the season last time when a good 3rd . He has the ground in his favour and is only a pound higher , but does have the widest of draws , which is no help. I’m opposing him with another wide drawn runner in stablemate Another Touch , who refound is form good style at the end of last season and is another who’s programme suggests this is a target. He’s on a decent mark and ground no issue .The well drawn Young Fire is not out of this while Firmament has a terrific record at this track with 3 wins and 6 places in 11 tries !! and was 2nd in this last year on soft ground off a similar mark . He won well here earlier in the season but his last two runs have been well below par and requires a leap of faith today .
¼ pt ew Another Touch @ 28/1
2.40 PREMIUM RACE
3.45 PREMIUM RACE
4.20 Echo Beach brings the best form to the table and no issues with ground and is bred for the longer trip . Slight worry regarding the first time cheekpieces with the strong stable .
1/2 pt win Echo Beach @ 7/2
4.50 Very few make any great appeal in this , frustrating as it’s hard to fine the one to exploit the situation. True Blue Moon had the run of the race last time when making all in the Ayr mud , but has been effective off this new mark before . He doesn’t have to lead to run well , is well drawn and liks the ground .
¼ pt ew True Blue Moon @ 8/1
No York placepot
No advice from Downpatrick
Selected Chepstow- good to soft on this undulating , galloping and quite stiff track
2.10 There is a great deal of early pace in this which wont help the many battling fir the lead but will enhance the chance of the strong stayers. Langer Dan landed his first two races last season and ended with a highly creditable 6th of 22 In the Cheltenham mud at the Festival , only beaten 5 lengths and doing all of his best work late on. Would like the ground a bit deeper but will surely be staying on when most have had enough . The short priced fav is the recent winner Vorashann , but it wasn’t much of a race he won last time and this is much deeper . Very nice longshot .
½ pt ew Langer Dan @14/1
2.45 Not a great deal to go on but Born To Borris and Kilmington Rose are with top stable and look a likely pair this Winter. The nod goes to Paris Dixie ,a smart bumper winner when last seen 18 months ago , but has joined Champion trainer Nicky Henderson who has a fantastic record with new intakes .
¼ pt win Paris Dixie @ 4/1
3.15 A good quality Grade 2 Hurdle named in honour of three times Champion Hurdle winner in Persian War. The odds on fav is the useful Macfabulous , and despite bringing the best form to the table, this is full of prolific and progressive types . The fav will do well to win and there are more straight forward odds on shots today . A good pace is on the cards today with both Courtandbould, a bit to prove on softer ground and stiffer track, and Getaround , both sure to go out and set a strong pace . The latter is the star of the small stable of Ella Pickard and has some good form in the book , but would prefer a longer trip and softer ground and of course the lead to himself . Petrastar is 3 from 3 and his form is pretty good, Has to be worth a dabble at long odds.
¼ pt win Petrastar @ 22/1
3.50 A great chance for professional loser to finally break his duck, but not for me at odds on .
4.25 Soaring Glory was one of the better bumper horses last season and will be hard to beat first time over hurdles , but odds too short .
4.55 A good quality veterans race and the vote goes to last year’s 3rd Joe Farrell and today’s better ground very much in his favour.
½ pt win Joe Farrell @ 9/2
5.25 An interesting novice chase and quite a few of these could improve for the switch from hurdles and tacking a longer trip . Ask Dillon had good hurdles form and expect better now going over fences.
½ pt win Ask Dillon @ 5/2
5.55 This has a winnable look and the in form Royal Magic could take some catching from the front , as long as the ground doesn’t deteriorate .
¼ pt win Royal Magic @ 13/2
Selected Kempton – all weather – polytrack
4.30 Not a deep contest and Sea Of Charm’s recent 2nd here reads well in the context of this race . Well drawn and longer trip looks a good move on breeding .
¼ pt win Sea Of Charm @ 5/2
5.05 The two penalised runners in Luckiness and Amore de Vida still look the ones to concentrate upon in another modest maiden with preference for the former who did it well last time at Chelmsford on just his 2nd start .
¼ pt win Luckiness @ 7/2
6.45 The hat-trick seeking Last Surprise did it well at Ponty last time but previously had to work hard to prevail over C&D off a much lower mark . The in form and useful Raucous remains feasibly weighted and this is not deep .
½ pt win Raucous @ 4/1
7.15 Strong Power did well last time and this well drawn runner takes a welcome drop in grade in another race where it’s hard fancying many .
¼ pt win Strong Power @ 7/1
7.45 Bookies appear to have got this right making Progressive and Dusk the 4/1 joint favs , and hard to split .
8.15 Not a deep finale and despite the wide draw , selsey Sizzler has been running well off slightly higher marks and no issues with trip or surface .
¼ pt ew Selsey Sizzler @ 6/1
Selected Dundalk – all weather – polytrack
6.00 The short priced fav in this big field handicap is the in form Miss Cunning , but well happy taking her on from a bad draw, and returning from a break off a very testing mark . defilade wasn’t far away over C&D last time and another big run likely in a field hard to fancy many .
½ pt ew Defilade @ 7/1
7.00 The most interesting runner is the progressive youngster , a dual C&D winner and comes here on the back of two big runs on turf in hot handicaps , but that was 3 months ago and he’s badly drawn , so letting him go in this winnable heat at just 7/4.
8.30 Wilderness started the season with a hat-trick of wins but eventually the handicapper has the last say and he remains 12 above his last winning mark , but went close off this mark when trying to make all in the Naas mud, a really good effort and comes here on the back of a decent effort here when badly drawn and keeping on well to be 6th of 14. He goes up in trip today which could open a few new doors for him and nicely drawn tonight , In 4 rides, the jockey has come out with 3 wins and a place . Has to be a decent play at the odds.
½ pt ew Wilderness @ 14/1
