Yesterday we came really close with Ashgar winning @ 11/2 & Uncle Bernie @ 4/1.The finla leg, The Firm, was very well backed but just missed the frame , and wasn't that far from a win.
50p ew trixie
Dandy 3.15 Bath @ 6/1
High Jinx 4.25 Longchamp @ 4/1
Explosive Lady 5.10 Curragh @ 5/1
Longchamp good ground on this galloping track
12.30 A top class sprint to open the card .I deserted my old mate last time out on the all weather at Dundalk, but even though he won , he wasn’t at his best. Today’s conditions really suit and on this quick five furlongs. He could take a lot of catching.
½ pt ew Caspian prince @ 12/1
1.30 PREMIUM RACE
2.45 PREMIUM RACE
3.25 No play in this with a number of the field having a prep race for the Arc.
3.55 This is between the Richard Hannon pair of Toronado and Night of Thunder and I give the deg to the speedier Toronado.
¾ pt win Toronado @ 5/4
4.25 High Jinx was give a prominent ride last time out when winning at Maisson Lafitte, which was a good tactic. He is a bit one paced at this trip but knows how to battle. He has identical conditions today and shoudln’t be troubled to get an easy lead up front and with Ryan Moore in the saddle, he is going to be very difficult to pass.
1.25 pts win High Jinx
The Curragh- good to firm ground on this stiff and galloping track
2.05 A massive field for this handicap sprint but very few front runners. Tylery Wonderdid my members a big favour last time when a 10/1 winner over C&D. In 6 runs here he has 4 win and 4 placings. He is higher in the weights for his last win , but he didn’;t have it his own way last time and had to do quite a bit iof running to clai the prize.I was very impressed with the run. He has a great draw today and shouldn’t be troubled to get the lead and on his favourite ground will take a bit of catching. Significantly , connections have replaced the regular jockey with big race jockey Wayne Lordan. With Tylery Wonder drawn high this will reduce the chances of those drawn in single figures , including market fancies , Talitsu and Lady Mega. English raiders Discussiontofollow and Watchable are decent types , but both are also high in the weights, and it could be an Irish 1-2 with strong finishing Zalty, well drawn for a late thrust.
¾ pt ew Tylery Wonder @ 14/1
2.40 This Group 2 is most winnable. The fav is Chicquita, who has both her first race of the season and for Aidan O’Brien. Reports suggest that they don’t expect a great deal today.Tarfash finished 2nd in the Oaks but this drop in trip on quick ground is against her. I’m with the O’brien second string in Beyond Brilliance. She always runs in top races and is never disgraced. She ran 4th in the Irish Oaks with Tarfasha behind and this shorter trip on quick ground could well be her optimum . A huge price as many of her rivals are beatable today.
½ pt ew Beyond Brilliance @ 28/1
3.10 The Curragh Flying Five and the only certainty is a close finish. The whole field are closely matched and with so much pace in the race the outcome is most uncertain. I’m having a small one on Abstraction , who like all of them is capable , but is overpriced.
¼ pt ew Abstraction @ 20/1
3.40 Top English juvenile filly goes for this Group 1 Moyglare Stud. She is up in trip but that shouldn’t be a problem. She is the one to beat but Lucida has very good form in the book over C&dand is worth a play.Found has more to do down in trip , but represents top connections. Malabaris improving and this test could really suit her.
¼ pt ew Lucida @ 7/1
4.15 Gleneagles is one of the season’s top juveniles and is odds on for this Group 1. Dutch Connection has done little wrong in England and looks a safe ew bet.
1/2pt ew Dutch Connection @ 9/2
4.50 It’ a good field for the irish St Leger, which is open to runners of all ages, and it looks very good for the fav Leading Light. He has looked even better this season and is very fairly priced. His rivals are a little much of a muchness and there’s nit clearew alternative.
1.5 pts win Leading Light @ 10/11
5.20 A huge field of 2yos for this valuable prize. There is pace all across the track, but it os most likely that the very speedy and decent pair of Dandyleekie and Diaz will take them along, and they are both drawn high . Of the pair, Diaz is more likely to appreciate this C&D but both have a few pouds to fins with the lightly weighted pair of Explosive Lady and realtra. Explosive Lady is a very talented juvenile. She has a great draw and looks good to take this one up in the closing stages. She should last out this slightly longertrip. Realtra is useful, but is drawn a bit away from the action and would prefer slower ground.
1pt ew explosive Lady @ 5/1
5.50 The amazing 3yo Panama Hat goes for his 6th handicap won in succession. He began his run off mark of 60 and today runs off 108 ! Almost 50 pounds improvement in 3 months ! Today’s weight rise does look the final straw, but you never know. Adjusted is the fav but is not well handicapped on what he has achieved so far. I am with Einsteins Folly who impressed on his only start at this trip when winning a Listed race. On that form he is weighted to go very close in this winnable handicap.
3/4pt ew Euinstens Folly @ 12/1
Bath – firm ground on this quite tight but stiff track
2.15 This looks a match between Flying Brave and the improving Royal Brave. I give the nod to the former at these weighs.
1/2pt win Flying Bear @ 10/3
2.45 It’s unlikely that Eternitys Gate will be at his best on this very quick ground, and thoughQuick touch’s form is Ok, it’s not a race to get involved in at the odds.
3.15 Jalingo did well on his run on quick turf last week ,but this C&D could easily find him out. Croquemouche and Dandy are both track specialist and Dandy holds a decision over his old rival on similar ground. Both of these like to front run and it could be who will get the lead. Dandy is partnered by apprentice Rob Hornby , who has struck up a successful partnership with dandy and knows his mount very well. Croquembouche is partnered for the first time by top rider Freddie Tylicky . He is not that experienced at Bath and Dandy is attractively priced for his chance.
1pt ew Dandy @ 6/1
3.50 Only 4 run in this Class 3 but all have a chance. Steeler, who disappointed badly last time out, is much favoured by the weights, but I can’t see this C&D on quick ground being suitable. Tenor is a tough front runner and holds a decision over The Rectifier on similar ground at the similar Pontefract. He could take some reining in
½ pt win Tenor @ 9/2
4.25 Horrayforhollywood is the short oriced fav but only has the same chance as both Natural Charm and Mahsoba. There is no value in the odds .
4.55 Teak was winner for my members last time out whe he had perfect condition but this out and out stayer will be inconvenienced at this shorter trip. Hi Note goes well here and is worth a small play.
¼ pt win Hi Note @ 7/1
5.25 Red Perdita has a golden opportunity to shed her maiden tag , but some big stables have runners here .
Ffos Las- good to firm ground on this flat and pretty quick track
2.30 Taraz is the only one of the quintet with racing experience and he shaped Ok,but all of his rivals are from big stables.
3.00 Fast Dancerhas the best form and is the short priced fav, but this quick ground and track nay be against him. Aussie Ruler has a decent level of form, he wasn’t disgraced last time against some decent type and has run well here before . Capable iof causing a bit of a shock. Colour Catcher has his first race on turf after 3 run son the all weather. He’s had the snip, so that could make a difference. I am against Wnder of Qatar dropping down in trip on this quick track.
½ pt ew Aussie Ruler @ 16/1
3.30 Here Now has only ever run o soft ground, so if today’s ground suits , we’ll have to wait and see. His form is good enough to win this. I am with La estuata who goes well on quick ground and this longer trip should suit.
¼ pt win La estuata @ 4/1
4.05 The fav Swan Lakes is dropping in trip which is a disadvantage at this quick track. Dubai Hedera doesn’t look like he’ll like the track either. An Chulainn is hard to win with and does look a bit reluctant in the finish , but saying that looks good for the frame, and who knows she might want to win today.
¼ pt ew An Chulainn @ 9/2
4.40 Saoi is very hard to win with, he finds nothing in the finish and this longer trip is against him. The other three have chances and I give tjhe nod to Solidarity.
1/4pt win Solidarity @ 9/4
5.10 PREMIUM RACE
5.40 Going French is dropped in grade and should have too much pace for his rivals in a weak handicap.
¼ pt win Going French @ 5/2
Listowel – good to firm ground on this flat and easy track
3.55 Ballychorus was fancied at the Galway festival but was caught out wide and got a bit outpaced. She remains well handicapped and this longer trip looks a big positive.Penny;s Tune looks out of this with herweight rise, as does Lily The Lioness but both Hell Cat Maggie and Razia are dangerous.
¾ pt win Ballychorus @ 6/1
5.00 Lord ben is a very brave and genuine front runner who has ideal conditions. He is a bit high in the weights but should have too much for old rivals False Economy and Hospital.
¾ pt win Lord ben @ 7/2
