Fakenham – good ground on this flat and very tight track
2.00 At the weights it should be a walk in the park for Kiama bay, who showed really god form last year but in limited chances this season hasn’t looked the same horse at all and it’s unsurprising they drop him into a seller. He has a good ground C&D win on his CV where as usual he led them all the way. He wont have an easy time up front today with veteran Jonnie Skull In the field who has really taken to his tight C&D with an excellent win and a very good 2nd , but his last effort here was very poor and he comes here on the back of a number of poor runs from the flat.Neither Kudu Country not Newordl make much appeal while hurdles newcomer Hagree is rated only 50 on the flat and has stamina doubts for this game . Scioppio del carro could well surprise but it’s an easy race to swerve
2.30 Really tough and it’s which of Gowanauthat, Guancale, Larteta or Little windmill handles the ground and C&D best, and from their form , it’s nigh impossible to work that out.
3.00 Fizzy Dancer is more a stayer and may struggle around the tight turns while the drying ground is against Angel Face. Ayals Emperor is a likeable type but is up a lot in the weights for a recent win while the rest are all well weighted on their best form, but are inconsistent and hardly trustworthy.
No Bet( Again !)
3.30 The Norfolk National and come decent stayers go for this prize. The fav is Prideofcastle who ran well behind the wonderful Conas Toi at warwick last time on good ground giving the distinct impression that this C&D would suit . Grove Silver is a likeable sort but the drying ground is against him while Finish the Story and Nail Em are both regulars in this type of event and both will run their races, but again the drying ground is far from ideal. I was very keen on Rebeccas Choice last time but he ran poorly while Emerald Rose ran a much better race last time but when last here her jumping was shocking. I’m with Harry The Viking , who makes the 550 mile round trip for Scottsih trainer Sandy Thomson. This one has been on th go for some time but his latest run ws in a similar event at perth on good ground where I didn’t hold much hope for his chances om the drying ground but handles it really well and was coming home like the clappers for a very good 3rd . That gives him clear claims today.
½ pt ew Harry The Viking @ 8/1
4.05 the short priced fav is Man of Steel who has done well on the soft ground this year but comes here om the back of a laboured effort at Chelthenham on good ground . It was a much better race that this but you would have expected a better showing. In fairness was once a decent type for Nicky Henderson but recent runs have been very poor. Bay to Go is a likebale type who likes the ground and has run his best races on sharp tracks. He’s been going ok of late ion soft ground points and today’s better ground is very much in his favour. Both Quinsman and Hill of Gold come here in decent form and also will enjoy the ground.
¼ pt ew Bay to Go : 6/1
4.35All Together is a talented young chaser who reached a mark of 132, but blotted his copybook somewhat last time out with a poor display. He was ridden quite furiously from the front that day and it’s likely that he ran his race far too early. He has a very good 2nd over C&D on good ground on his CV and if that last race has not left any scars , he should get another win today.
Sedgefield- soft ground on this undulating and sharp track
2.10 Kilcoran Castle is the shirt priced fav but his win came at the very stiff track of Carlisle and his runs on easier tracks are nowhere as good. Film Director is hughly capable but obviously have his problems and is now very lightly raced, but is still not ruled out. The ex- irish Ultimate Horseman certainly has claims on form, but the trip could be on the short side. Jamiee Snowden runs two and while Our Reward has abilty, Orchard Park has good form in Bumpers and is taken to win over hurdles at the first ask.
¼ pt win Orcahrd Park @ 7/1
2.40 PREMIUM RACE
3.10 Frank the Skink had been showing zilch until last time out at Newcastle, but despite a further drop in class and the weights, it’s doubtful if this C&D will play into his strengths. Vision De La Vie looked good two starts ago but followed that up with a pulled up when conditions should have suited. His best form gives him a chance and trainer Pauline Robson has a great record here. Notonebuttwo ran a rare bad one last time over C&D , and it’s hard to know what to expect today. Debt to Society has a good record here and showed his wellbeing with a good run over hurdles. He is fine over fences and I take him to fend off stout stayer Urban Gale.
½ pt win Debt to Society @ 9/4 ¼ pt Rev F.c Debt to Society- Urban Gale
3.40 This looks a match but Overthehedge did beat a good one last time out and with that being only his 2nd race over hurdles , progress looks most likely. Bleu et Noir went close last time, but it wasn’t a great race and is looking hard to win with.
½ pt win Overthehedge @ 3/1
4.15 Master Rajeem is still only a 7yo but his form has been most regressive of late and a revival looks unlikely stepping back appreciably in trip. My Friend George is a most reliable type who has both the ground and C&D in his favour. He remains high enough in the weights , but he opposition is weak.
¾ pt win My Friend George @ 11/8
4.45 Beaumonts Part has never been one for the kids’ dinner money, but he had a few of these behind last time over C&d and it will be disappointing if he can’t nail this.
¾ pt winBeaumonts Party @ evens
5.20 Discoverie has really taken off of late and his latest win over C&D was a career best, but the handicapper has taken a dim view and bunged him up 7 pounds. He’s crossed swords with Duhallowcountry here a few times and the current score is 1-1 , but at the weights today, Duhallowcountry has a clear edge and if recovered from a tough race at hexham last time in the mud, looks a great ew bet in a weak race.
½ pt ew Duhallowcountry @ 7/1
Brighton – good ground on this undulating and tricky track
2.20 All of Assassinate, Morning Suit and Tomily have showed up well already in this small field 2yo race. Timily looks to have the strongest form while Assassinate has a win over &D which is always a major positive while Morning Suit is not out of it either.
2.50 PREMIUM RACE
3.20 The overnight rain has come to the rescue of Ice Slice, who came from a very long way back to win over C&D last time out. He’s 4 pounds higher but will take some beating. Both Mezzotnt and Mariee bring good all weather form to the table and of course has to prove it under totally different conditions. Ice Slice looks Nice
1.25pts win Ice Slice @ 5/2
3.55 Tempuran has had a fine old time of it of late on the all weather and has a great attitude to his racing . He is now very high in the weights and is unlikely to get a soft lead with Highlife Dancer in the field. This ones’ form tailed off last year but the rain is in his favour but the jockey is very inexperienced . The longer trip is against Pink Ribbon and while China Girl has had few chances, she’s hardly shaping up like a winner about to happen. There are a couple of unexposed track specialists here in Safira Medina and Flutterbee. The former won well over C&D last year and has since changed stables, but is not ruled out of this . I give the nod to Flutterbee, who always runs well here and is 1 from 1 at this trip. The George Baker stable is in very fine form.
½ pt ew Flutterbee @ 6/1 ¼ pt rev F/c Flutterbee- Safira Medina
4.25 Most of these are very closely matched at the weights in this weak class 6. I’m taking a chance with youngster Outback Princess, whoi has been showing up quite well in better class.
¼ pt win Outback Princess @ 9/1
4.55 Gulland Rock couldn’t handle the soft ground here last time , but it shouldnlt be as bad today and a better show is expected from this well drawn and tough type. Wild Flower came from way back to finish 2nd in that race but is still a maiden after 17 tries and has the worst of the draw
¼ pt ew Gulland Rock @ 9/1
5.25 The flying grey Royal Bajan is not as good as he was but looked like making his first run for Robert Cowell a winning one until getting nabbed close home with Whutecrest not far away at all. The rain is not in his favour but will help Secret Millionaire , who flopped when aa Premium tip at Kempton but made no mistake here next time The handicapper hasn’t gone overboard and is worth a small play in a very open race and if the ground dries, which is possible, his chance will not be so strong.
¼ pt ew Secret Millionaire @ 5/1
Catterick – soft ground on this undulating and sharp track
5.55 The well odds on fav is Clem Fandango after a good debut at Beverley on softish ground , but odds on juveniles make little appeal this time of year with them often improving markedly after just one run.
6.25 It looks a two horse war on the ratings between Itlaaq and Tatting at the weights as they have over a stone in hand at the very least. However bioth have a bit to prove. Itlaaq is now a 10yo but in the past ran great races in big handicaps off lofty marks , but achieved very little in few chances last year and the forecast soft ground is a big negative Tattling had been in terrific form on the fibresand until his last run which was a buig disappointment getting well turned over at odds on. All of his 11 wins have come on synthetics , but is far from a no hoper here and is a fairly solid fav, but of course not for me. Chilworth Bells comes here in fine form but the longer trip is the problem as it is with Carragold. Fillydelphia has a bit to fond with all of these at the weights, but has a C&D win on his CV which came on good soft.He comes to hand pretty early and he wont be the first ever long priced winner in a claimer.
½ pt ew Fillydelphia @ 25/1
6.55 Sir Michael Stoute rarely makes the long trek North to Cattercik, but half of his 8 runners have hit the mark before and odds on shot Musdam looks another, but not for me at the odds
7.25 Dr Red Eye’s comeback run was here on very soft ground and he ran really well coming 2nd but failed to back that up for a weak effort at Brighton next time with plenty in his favour. Taysh was rated much higher in the past and comes here on the back of agreat run over C&D when 2nd off a slightly lower mark. He is a useful type but has a worrying profile as he only runs a few times every season and it’s been a while since he last won. The rest are much of a muchness and I’m having just a small play.
¼ pt win Taysh @ 10/3
7.55 PREMIUM RACE
8.25 If ever a horse deserved a win it’s Elusivity. He’s notched up 3 consecutive seconds but runs his little heart out every time. Prior to this frustrating run he had won 3 from 4 and you could argue he’s a little high in the weights, but he just keeps bumping into one better treated. He is very well drawn tonight to get his favoured lead and the soft ground and this quick C&D should play into his strengths. Henley is now much higher in the weights for a recent win as is Hit The Lights and with the rest not posing any threat, it looks great for an all the way deserved win
1.25pts win Elusivity @ 9/4
Exeter- good ground on this undulating, galloping and stiff track
5.45 The drying ground is very much against Ninepointsixthree who ran well over C&D last time, but even his best is some way behind Aston Cantlow, who let me down for an acca last time and was cruising into the contest when missing one out and taking a fall. Despite clearly having the best form and being suited to tonight’s conditions, the fav is Paul Nicholls’ Moabit who ran well on nhis debut here but does need to step up quite a on on the bare form.
¾ pt win Aston Cantlow @ 7/4
6.15 Another uncompetitive novice hurdle and it’s very hard to pick between Morning Herald and Avispa and the bookies agree. Their best form is either side of this trip and it looks like a close call to me . May have a play on the distances less than a length and a half which is usually 7/4
6.45 Get Involved is going really well of late but is up a bit more in the weights and the drying ground is not in his favour, but saying all that , he’s got more of a chance than most. The capable pair of Horizontal Speed and Rolling Maul have been disappointing of late while recent winner Carre Noir is another who will find the ground lively enough. The Tourard Man had a great season last year culminating in a place at the Cheltenham Festival on good ground. He has struggled for most of the season, sometimes on soft ground, sometimes over fences. There was a lot to like about his latest start and is worth a small play.
¼ pt winThe Tourard Man @ 6/1
7.15 PREMIUM RACE
7.45 Its All or Nothing is the fav in this weakish Hunter chase , but is anither who could find it tough on the drying ground. Peterbrown ran very well in a far better contest over C&d and has to go close but the nod goes to On Alberts Head, who comes here in good form from points and loves quick ground . His pulled up last time can be excused as it was on heavy ground. He’s worth risking to stay this slightly longer trip than usual.
¼ pt win On Alberts Head @ 4/1
8.15 A massive field for the bumper and most of these are making their debuts and some are well bred and from big stables . I’ve done well over the season supporting flat trainers who try a runner in a bumper. David Elsworth has won Classics and also trained star stayer Persian Punch as well as one of the all time greats over fences in Desert Orchid. He runs Lynx Creek who is flat bred and wasn’t cheap and significantly is pretty short in the market. Just a small play .
¼ pt win Lynx Creek @ 7/2
