Good wood – good to firm ground on this undulating and quick track
1.55 The marathon handicap and young filly Maid In Rio goes for yet another win. She is now very high in the weights and this is a really long trip, but a win wouldn’t surprise me. Lieutenant Miller was the fav for this race last season and came 2nd , on ground that was plenty soft enough for him. He’s obviously been aimed at this race by his programme and the top stable has booked top jockey Ryan Moore
½ pt win Lieutenant Miler @ 9/1
2.30 The whole field is pretty closely matched on their ratings but I’m going for Somewhat to lead this al the way and he should stay this longer trip.
¼ pt win Somewhat @ 4/1
3.05 The duel of the day and top class milers Toronado and Kingman go head to head for the Sussex stakes. On this ground , Kingman does have a slight edge , but at ½ I’m not playing.
3.40 It was a pretty weak field which Highland Reel demolished recently , but he did do it in the style of a useful customer. Ahlan Emereati has run well in some hot races and shouldn’t have a problem with the longer trip.
¼ pt ew Ahlan Emereati @ 5/1
4.15 Shahah is the fav on his debit 2nd , but that wasn’t a strong maiden and preference is for the very expensive Hundi, , who lost his first race at the start and he’s entered for some top races.
½ pt win Hundi @ 7/2
4.50 Quite a few improving 3yos here but the fast ground is the key factor on this quick track. Hedge End always runs well here and goes on quick ground. The booking of good apprentice Cam Hardie is a smart move as he takes 5 pounds off his back. All of Water Hole , Principle Equation and Patternede have the form to figure but have yet to race on ground this quick while Hiking may well find the track a bit quick. Palerma won well last time and looks the biggest danger.
¼ pt ew Hedge End @ 12/1
5.25 Lots of pace on here with Kaktosi, Piceno, Bravo echo and Little Shambles wantng to lead. They are all drawn high, which isn’t a good draw and all these will do is probably set the race up. Related is a prominent racer and has the plum draw in stall 1 . He can track the pace and stays this trip really well. He runs the track well and also goes on quick ground. He’s blinkered first time for his in form stable
3/4pt ew Related @ 14/1
Galway- good ground on this undulating and quite stiff track
3.00 Tawseef is the odds on fav for this big field novice hurdle , but he’s yet to win over hurdles and looks one to take on.Poetic Lord is very consistent and tough . He lkes to be handy and this stiff finish could just tip the scales his way. He’s a big price and wont be far away.
½ pt ew Poetic Lord @ 16/1
3.35 Ballychorus can get the hat-trick in his first handicap. The handicapper could have been far more severe and the horse he beat in his nvie hurdle is no rated a lot higher than the tip. Despite the big field , there are few with a chance and Ballychorus could well be ahead of the handicapper.
¾ pt win Ballychorus @ 9/2
4.10 Ancient Sands hasn’t had much racing over hurdles but comes him in fine form from the flat where he reached the high rating of 95.This gives him a huge chance today in this handicap hurdle off only 116. On his flat form he could be competitive off 135.
1pt win Ancient sands @ 5/1
4.45 I’m swerving this amateur jockeys ace with many of these going up significantly in trip.
5.30 JP Macmanus runs in the Galway Plate and Tony McCo has chosen former classy Alderwood. He doesn’t race often nowadays but everything points to him being primed for this massive prize.
¾ pt win Alderwood @ 8/1
6.05 Sister Slew certainly has a favourite’s chance in this big field handicap but Cairdhul runs this track very well and from a good draw can hit the frame at least.
½ pt ew cairdhuil @ 16/1
6.40 A competitive 3yo handicap and I’m with the consistent Focussed , who has god form hereon quickish ground, and as usual wont be far away.
½ pt ew Focussed @ 12/1
7.10 Not enough to go on in the closing maiden.
Redcar – god to firm ground on this flat and galloping track
2.05 Little Sista shaped well at catterick and this longer trip and more conventional track will suit.
1/2pt win Little Sista @ 9/2
2.40 Blue Army ran Ok last time but the form of Duelling Dragon is stronger and the rest don’t amount for much.
¾ pt win Duelling Dragon @ 3/1
3.15 Mixed message came back to life last time over C&d and is weighted to win this. Tenhoo is dropped in class bit hasn’t been at his best for a while and age could have taken its toll.
¾ pt win Mixed message @ 3/1
3.50 Prophesy has been going well on better races and has a great opportunity today. The only danger is The Firm. Lord Frankilin is the fav but he has a lot to do at the weights and on this quicker track. Power Up has disappointed of late but is too young to discount.
½ pt win prophecy @ 5/1
4.25 Jacbequick was a 5/1 winner for my members recentlyat his beloved Beverley but has it do today up in the weights and on this very different track. He also has two very progressive rivals in Jailawi and Brown Eyed Honey , who are difficult to split.
5.00 Whatever early pace there is inthis race is with the high numbers and that is where the race will develop. Veteran RedCape came back to form last time at catterick, which is a track he runs well and he’s not so potent here. There are a few I like who are drawn high and are running well enough for support. These are Foxtrot Pearl, Spoken words and reds hadow. They are very hard to split but I just give the nod to Spoken Words .
½ pt ew Spoken Words @ 12/1
5.35 PREMIUM RACE
6.10 Not getting involved in this amateur jockeys handicap as there are a few front runners and the pace could be suicidal.
Perth – good to firm ground on this flat and quick track.
2.15 bellgrove has quite a bit to do on quicker ground and at this shorter trip. Moss Street won here last night and could well have the legs of the very successful Nathan’s pride on this sharp track.
¾ pt win Moss Street @ 3/1
2.50 Decent flat horse Money Money Money did it well last time, and about time too. This quicker ground will test him today though. Push Me comes here on the back of an impressive win on the flat , but his hurdles form is not that great. Dynamic Drive is consistent and has good form here and could surprise the market leaders.
¼ pt ew Dynamic Drive @ 7/1
3.25 PREMIUM RACE
4.35 Even though he is very high in the weights, the likeable Kie will take this out from the front and none of his 3 rivals will be able to pick him up. Mister Nibbles wants softer ground. Satanic Beat needs a stiffer track and Cool Baranaca is too high in the weights.
1pt win Kie @ 7/2
5.10 It’s a tough contest and the in form St Gregory goes for the Ht-trik and could do it. Cools Star wont be faraway but at the weights I’m with Irish raider Mia’s Anthem.
¼ pt win Mia’s Anthem @9/2
5.45 Ainsi Fidels is up in trip and isn’t well handicapped. Harry’s Whim is a likeable type but is also high in the weights. Track specialist Scotch warriot will have this race run to suit with his rivals wanting to push the pace. Cracking price for his make up.
1pt win Scotch warrior @ 5/1
6.20 Far too many ifs and buts in the closing weak handicap.
Sandown – good to firm ground on this stiff track
5.50 PREMIUM RACE
6.25 Purple N Gold ran like he needed his latest run as it was his first for some time. This is not a strong handicap and he can get another one at track he likes.
¼ pt win Purple N Gold @ 7/2
6.55 Latharnach is the odds on fav after his useful debut run in the mud at Newmarket. Today’s ground is totally different and I’m very hot on Tom Hark who ran a great race over C&D recently and the form looks strong. He has conditions to suit again and is a huge price for a very obvious chance.
1.5 pts win Tom Hark @ 4/1
7.30 Halation recently changed hands for over £100,000 this lightly raced type could well repay the investment . I’m sticking with Biotic who could notch up another track win as the longer trip should suit.
¼ pt win Biotic @ 4/1
8.00 None of these make any appeal at this trip and on this ground but something has to win but I can’t find the one with the edge.
8.30 Spectator did it well when winning at this trip at Chester .He just did enough that day and could defy the handicapper in a modest event.
¾ pt win Spectator @ 5/2
Leicester – good to firm ground on this stiff track
6.00 These are either very lightly raced or making their debuts , so improvement is forthcoming. I was quite taken with the debut of the well related Dolorous and she can get us off to a good start.
½ pt win Dolorous @ 9/4
6.30 Tasaaboq is dropped in class and is just about the best in at the weights. I’m with Chanceuse who runs ok here and wont mind the ground.
¼ pt ew Chanceuse @ 6/1
7.05 Watersmeet is a bit high in the weights and takes on some decent older horses. Albaqaa is capable down in the weights and in class but I’m with Silver Dixie who will relish the conditions.
¼ pt ew Silver Dixie @ 5/1
7.40 Another 2yo race and again they are lightly raced or newcomers. Skate shaped up well on his debut and his high profile owners don’t own rubbish.
¼ pt win Skate @ 3/1
8.10 We haven’t seen Sleep walk for 3 months since she won a very weak maiden at Bath on soft ground. Hardly similar conditions to tonight. Sleep walk is odds on for this and she does have a ot to prove. Clock Opera runs this track well and likes the rack and is a good ew bet at long odds.
½ pt ew Clock Opera @ 14/1
8.45 It’s a weak handicap to finish and it does look good for C&D winner Kalon Brama. I backed him last time out and it was a competitive claimer and he did it really well. The problem with tonight’s race is that none of the field make the running and his win came off a strong pace. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the tip make the running as he is the best horse comfortably in the race at these weights.
¾ pt win Kalon Brama @ 11/4
