Racing at Ayr abandoned - waterlogged
Sedgefield- good ground on this undulating and quite sharp track
2.00 PREMIUM RACE
2.30 Kiwayu showed much improved form last time out with a clear win at uttoxter, but was previously just behind Gran Paradiso over C&D on identical ground, and at the weights , the form should be confirmed. Our Reward is unexposed and has a C&D win on his Cv. Top of the Glass has refound the winning habit and cant be ignored despite going up in trio whil Jovial Joey is another who stepped up last time and adds to the puzzle. At the odds, it’s Paradiso for me.
¼ pt win Gran Paradiso @ 9/1
3.05 PREMIUM RACE
3.40 The Back UP Plan won this last year and is in the kind of form to go close again. He fought out a finish with ballycool and Safari Journey a few starts back, and on better ground I just give him the nod. Mount Vesuvius has been in good form in low grade handicaps but has a rare try over fences and I can’t see his hold up style being suitable to this track.
½ pt win The Backup Plan @ 7/2
4.15 This shorter trip could well find out form horse Silver Shuffle , in fact you can merrily go through this field finding sizeable negatives . Menace was a decent bumper horse who has yet to get it right over timber. He’s been showing up fairly well over a variety of trips and tracks and all the time his mark is declining. He likes to front run and may be left alone up front as few here get busy early . Well worth a play and if he bombs out again, unlikely to watch for him in future.
½ pt win Menace @ 10/1
4.50 No Play in the bumper
Selected Fairyhouse- very soft ground on this galloping and quite stiff track
3.55 Enter the Red deserves great credit for running so consistently all season. He has no problems with the ground and he deserves a win for so many close calls . Great chance today.
½ pt ew Enter the Red
4.30 Intense Starlet is one of those long standing maidens, who always hits the frame but finds winning tough. He has a great chance today in his form and the ground holds no terrors. None of this field have ever won, so he is in very good company ! Waitiki ran better last time but steps up in trip today .
¾ pt ew Intense Starlet @ 5/1
5.05 The ones with the best chances at the weights do actually have a bit to prove with Highly Toxic going through the motions , Eighteen Sumers badly out of form and Vivat Rex going up markedly in trip. The Fox Tully is rarely far away and surely a race is going to drop this veteran’s way.
½ pt ew The Fox tully @ 9/1
5.35 PREMIUM RACE
Southwell – good ground on this flat and pretty quick track
2.20 Both Unify and Court if law have been givenbig chances by the handicapper but both take abig drop in trip which on this sharp track, may well nit a smart idea. Larkhall often runs well but finds winning tough . YOurholidayisover ran well over C&D a few starts back and holds Larkhall on C&D form earlier in the season. Looks most solid ew.
½ pt ew Yourholidayisover @ 7/1
2.55 A very tough small fiueld handicap , but The Geezez Geegee will need the cheekpices to make a vast difference as he was a beaten a long , long way when 2nd last time. All of the others have a shout of sorts and I give the nod to the in form Super Scorpion in a very open race
¼ pt win Super Scorpion @ 3/1
3.30 Another wide open small field handicap . and you could make a good case for all, and with it being arace for conditional jockeys, easy to swerve.
4.05 There is little between Miss Mobot and Lady Robyn on a line through the consistent Doitforjoe, and it’s even harder working out which if the pair will be better suited to this slightly longer trip.
4.40 Master Dancer is in tip tip form with a win on the flat preceding an excellent win over hurdles. He should be up to giving the weight to Katie Gale, but he’s not the type I’d like to back at short odds, as he is so lightly raced and could bomb out anytime without warning.
5.10 A highly winnable finale and I can understand the bookies making definitely Grey the fav dropping in grade , but not enough to persuade me. Spring Steel notched up a hat-trick over fences, even though he was most fortuitous to win his most recent . He then switched to hurdles last time and did struggle to get home, but it was in a better race than this. Pembridge was held off a lower mark last time while Annamault wanted the rains to arrive. No for me .
