Beverley- good ground on this stiff track
1.25 A seller and strictly at the weights it should be a cakewalk for Justonefortheroad, but this one is way out of form and is a shadow of the horse running big races in top handicaps just over a year ago. He has been right out the back in both his runs this season and though this is miles easier, you couldn’t back him at a short priced fav. At the weights his main rival is Juvenal, who is another to be wary of, he does run more bad races than good and has his first run for 6 months and when fresh , he’s not at his best. Nubar Boy is fit and well from a successful campaign on the all weather. He’s run well over a mile on his last two starts, but does have to be nursed home to get this tip and the Beverley mile is most unforgiving and the hill is a real crippler in the closing stages . So this has the makings of a real boilover and the only one in the field who could possibly take advantage is Thrust Control. He won this race last season, this is his time of year, his C&D and ground. After two quick wins last season , he went severely into his shell and ran a series of poor races, which helped his handicap mark if nothing else. He reappeared recently on the all weather and shaped very well in a race which didn’t suit his style of running. He’s not well drawn today but on the round course at Beverley, they can concertina on the rails in the closing stages and a wide draw enables a long raking run, which thrust Control , hopefully will employ. He does has a lot to do at the weights, but with doubts surrounding the market leaders he is very well worth a good bet
1pt ew Thrust Control @ 10/1
1.55 The short priced fav is the Mark Johnston trained newcomer Bahamian Art, but there areothers in the field speedier bred. Sportlobster brings decent experience to the tabe and has to be considerd at 5/1. Newcomers Bahangi, Buccaneers Vault and Realtra are all bred for speed and were expensive and are from stables capable of readying a first time out winner. I’m going for Red Connect, whose price soared from a foal to a yearling and despite being out the back on his debut at Doncaster, was running on very well at the end and is worth a small play.
1/4pt ew Red Connect @ 20/1
2.30 Those with experience don’t take the eye and it’slikely that a newcomer will take this and , Pomme De Terre, Ythan Waters and Kylach Me If You Can are all speedily bred and from good stables. The fav is newcpmer Johnny Be Goode, but he isn’t bred for speed.
3.05 Aetna won recently like a much improved filly but she’ll do well to double up on this quicker ground , from a higher mark and from a bad draw. The draw used to be more pronounced at Beverley, with the far rails runners holding a huge advantage. The low numbers in the draw still however hold an edge. Singeur does have the plot draw but he is a hold up horse and may not get the room he needs in the closing stages. Furthermore, he needs a decent break between his races nowadays , and it’s only 11 days since his last run . The pace to the race will probably be made by Chooseday and Lastchancelucas. Of those two, the latter is easily the specialist at the trip and Chooseday will struggle. Lastchancelucas will find it tough to hold on up this stiff five furlongs and I fully expect Hadaj to take the spoils. I was very keen on hi on his reappearance at Doncaster in the mud, where he ran a cracking rac only to weaken in the exhausting conditions, finishing a close 5th.He is well drawn today to track the pacesetter and can stay on much the better. He is more of a 6 furlong horse but has won over C&D on his only try, and that was on quick ground, he’s better on good. Bondesire will try but needs softer ground and a late challenge is on the cards from Tumblewind, who improved last season and he goes well on this kind of track. Top Boy did it well last time on the all weather, but his turf form is certainly good enough for him to be close up at the finish.
1pt ew Hadaj
3.40 PREMIUM RACE -BEST FORECAST RACE
½ pt rev F/c Mfiftythreedotcom – Flycatcher
4.15 PREMIUM RACE
4.50 A realy good 3YO handicap and I can see lots of winners coming from this race. Solidarity is the fav for Godolphin and does have a big chance, but so do quite a few others. Both Sbrasse and Adventure Seeker are possibles at long odds but I’m going for the topweight Liberty Red, wo had good turf form last season and his recent win on the all weather waspretty impressive. Early 3 year old races are often won by those at the top of the handicap.
¾ pt win Liberty Red @ 7/1
5.25 Simply Shining is the fav but doesn’t have agood record running fresh. Imaginary World has a good chance in the context of this weak race but I just give the nod to Real tigress, whose rookie trainer has made a very decent start to his career.
½ pt win Real Tigress @ 5/1
Cheltenham - good ground on this undulating and stiff track
2.05 PREMIUM RACE
2.40 PREMIUM RACE
3.15 Track specialist Thomas Crapper ran his best ever race at the Festival and despite going up in the weights, this improver is the one to beat today. The two at the foot of the handicap, Bodooma and Wintered Well are unexposed and could well be dangrous.
1pt ew Thomas Crapper @ 9/2
3.50 Buywise is a uge improver and ran another big race at the Festival. He was only just aheadof Persian Snow in that race and on today's beter ground, the latter can get his revenge.
3/4 pt ew Persian Snow @ 7/1
4.25 Most of these have had a successful season because of the soft ground but on this quicker ground there are few in this race with a serious chance. Bib Keown has been walloped by the handicapper for a facile win over this trip on good ground. His run last time out on soft ground suggested that he is on the upgrade and is the one to beat .
3/4 pt ew Bob Keown @ 14/1
4.55 Couldn't have a big bet here. Karinga Dancer disappointed when last seen and this trip is abit far for him anyway. Pantxoa has course form but looked very il at ease when racinh here and this trip is too short.Saint Roque has lost his good early seson form. The other two look outcalssed , but with doubts about the market leaders , I'm having a tiny bet on Nex Oasis.
1/4 pt ew Next Oasis @ 50/1
5.30 Been through this race a few times but can't find one who like the C&D and ground. No Bet
Newmarket - good ground on this undulating and stiff track
1.45 Provident Spirit is the odds on fav on the strength of his 2nd at Doncaster, but that wasin the mud and could be vulnerable against a lot of expensive well bred types. I'm going for Emirati Spirit , whos stable is bang in form and is entered in some top races.
1/2 pt ew Emiratit Spirit @ 16/1
2.20 Those whic have run don't have outstandng form and i'm going for Mind of Madness , who comes from high profile owners and the stable is very adept at getting early 2YO winners.
1/2 pt win Mind of Madness @ 6/1
2.55 BIG HIT
Very few here with a chnace at the weights and clasy filly , Wedding Ring can add another course victory to her portfolio
1.75 PTS WIN Weding Ring @ 5/2
3.30 The Free Handicap and the unbeaten Shifting Power is the sort priced fav in this small but quality field. Muracle of Medinah is a toug front runner, has very good form and could take some catching.
1/4pt ew Miracle of medinah @ 12/1
4.05 The Nell Gwynne Stakes and a big field of promising fillies competet. The fav is Sandiva , who does have the best form but I'm going for Along Again, who is stoutly bred and is likely to leave last year's form behind now she tackles longer distances.Dorothy B is the danger.
1/2 pt ew Along Again @ 12/1
4.40 Not a quality Fielden stakes and the fav, True Story impressed last season an even thiough not best in at the weights , looks best suited to this trip and ground. Somewhat may have stamona problems while Barley Mow would like it softer.
1.25 pts win True Story @ 9/4
5.10 Get you notebook , as many of these are likely to feature prominantly in good races tis season. The short priced fav is Munjaz, but his form is only comparable to a handful of others. I'm haivng a little on Connecticut, who cost a packet , is well bred and the stable has first time ut winners.
1/4 pt ew Connecticut @ 25/1
5.40 PREMIUM RACE
Sedgefield- good ground on this undulating and sharp track
4.45 A weak novice urdle and Voayage A New York is the short priced fav and has the best form but how will he go around here ? I'm going for The Back Up to show his worth on this better ground.
1/2 pt ew the Back Up Plan @ 11/2
5.15 Nothing appeals in this small field handicap and I'm going to make a cup of tea during this race
5.50 Baltic Payhfinder runs this track realy well and should be Ok on this quicker ground. Young Hyrricane could well struggle at the trip and the ground and the danger is Talkin Thomas, if he gets the trip.Riguex dancer is capable but a bit unreliable
1/2 pt ew Baltic Pathfinder.@ 5/1
6.25 Hunters Belt is the sort priced fav but this quicker ground may find him out. This culd well go one of the novice hrdles, Pair of Jacks and Utopian and the latter's form i9s just the stronger.
1/4 pt win Utopian @ 11/2
6.55 A Marathon chase and the ground, C&D, weights and form all point to the consistent Solway Donal .
3/4 pt ew Solway Dornal @ 13/2
7.25 A marathon hurdle and topweight Big Sound will apprecite the trip and ground and could take some beating.
1/2 pt win Big Sound @ 9/2
7.55 PREMIUM RACE
Southwell - good ground on this flat and quick track
4.30 Mr Bachster is the fav going for the hat-trcik, but he's been off for a while and the trip could be too short. Daliance , wont be stopping and can get an overdue win. That's The Deal riuns well here and is the danger.
1/2 pt win Dalliance @ 5/1
5.00 Karinga Dancer has a lot to against GasLine Boy and Son of Flicka and the better jumping of the former gives him the edge.
3/4 pt win Gas Line Boy @ 11/8
5.35 Tayarat caused an almighty shock last time at Market Rasen and this track could be all against him.Hopened has had a break, runs this rack well and is a genuine and honest mare.
1/2 pt win Hopeand @ 10/1
6.05 Golan Way should win but he is very erratic and inconsistent and he's 1/6 ! Nothing wrong with a small bet on 2nd fav , the decent Bay To Go.
1/2 pt win Bay to Go @ 6/1
6.35 A wide open handicap and I like the look of a few outsiders in the shape of Tealissio and Tom Wade, but I have to have a little on Hartside, who is very genuine and consitent and is a massive price.
1/4 pt ew Hartside @ 25/1
7.05 PREMUM RACE
7.35 Not getting involved in the bumper, far too many ifs and buts.
Dundalk - all weather -polytrack
Due to the difficult nature of the races , only a few selections
6.45 Due Duligence is a recent purchase for the O'Brien stable form America, where he raced at the highest level. Must be worth a bet at the odds.
3/4 pt win Due Diligence @ 11/4
8.15 I tipped up Calle Aneto good style last time and whatever could go wrong went wrong. He reared at the start, had to chase a strong pace, and still ran very well. Compensation tonight
1/2 pt ew Calle Aneto @ 12/1
9.15 A weak maiden and the drop in trip can get Ebadani that elusive first win.
1/2 pt win Ebadani @ 9/4
