King if the Wolds 4.10 @ 5/2
Bishops Court 2.40 @ 5/2
Corporal Maddox 7.45 @ 9/1
Pivot Bridge 6.30 @ 13/2
Worth a play on this treble which pays over 11/2
Cottillion 1.50 @ 4/6
Lake View Lad 3.35 @ 11/8
Label Des Obeaux 1.35 @ 4/6
Kempton – probably soft ground on this flat and quite quick track
1.05 Nothing sticks out in this race fir conditional jockeys.
1.35 Lable Des Obeaux certainly looks capable of giving the weight away
2.05 PREMIUM RACE
2.40 Bishops Court ran a good race in his first handicap and today’s slightly better ground will suit.
Zanista won well last time but it wasn’t much of a contest and the 6 pound rise in the weights is a bit harsh. Albert D’Olivate was given a lot to do last time and ran on well but on the balance of form it looks a good opportunity for the tip.
¾ pt win Bishops Court @ 5/2
3.15 A Class 2 chase and the very excellent Gods law probably has a warm up for a tile at some juicy prizes coming up. He is one of the nest 2 mile chasers around and though he stays this trip , it’s not his best. Josses Hill kis anothetr classy chaser but is often worried out of it quite easily. Aso is a typically tough type from the stable of Venetia Williams and with the other pair having their sights on future prizes , this could be easier than it’s entitled to be.
½ pt win Aso @ 10/3
3.50 Silvergrove was a most game winner last time but will be tested today up in class and in the weights. A Good Skin ended last season on a real high and his good 3rd at Wincanton last time out suggested that he is capable of going close off this mark.
¼ pt ew A Good Skin @ 5/1
4.25 & 4.55
No Plays in the big field bumpers
Wetherby – very soft ground on this flat and galloping track
1.20 No Bet
1.50 You can have what you like on the massively inform Cottillion who has everything in his favour. If you’re the bold type who likes a shorty, this is your bet of the day.
2pts win Cottillon @ 4/6
2.25 Despite a shocking win record of 1 in 42 , Astigos has been shaping like a win is imminent but I can’t see it being today dropping in trip. Cody Wyoming has completely lost his confidence and a 4th successive pulled up wouldn’t surprise. The ex- Irish Formidableopponent has been dropping in the weights and ran well off a higher mark last time to be a close 4th. The very soft ground is a concern but Bawden Rocks does have a worrying profile with so few races a season.
¼ pt win Formidableopponent @ 7/1
3.00 The Wallace Line is very poorly handicapped but the remaining trip all have a decent shout. One to swerve.
3.35 Lake View lad is a progressive novice who could be going places. He could very easily be unbeaten over hurdles as in his first two races he suffered falls, the last of which was when in control against the very decent Bigironinship. Walking in the Air has good bumper form but his only hurdles run was a disappointment. Most happy to be on the side of The Lad again.
1.25 pts win Lake View Lad @ 11/8
4.10 Ballyoliver came back to form last time out and is the danger to the likeable King of the Wolds. This one is tough and capable chaser at this trip and should cope with the very soft ground. He likes this kind of track and is prepared to battle. Epic Warrior showed promise in his first chase but does struggle a bit to get home.
½ pt win King of the Wolds @ 5/2
4.40 IT looks most unlikely that Auldthunder would get the Catterick C&D as he was out he back going nowhere, but he sprouted wings in the home strait and in the end won easily. He has rare run on this kind of flat and galloping track and it does look good for the Navanman hat-trick. He won very well at Fakenham last time out and the 7 pound rise looks most fair. Connections have put 7 pound claimer Micky Heard on to get his welter weight down a bit . He looks the likely winner , but I wont be playing at odds on.
Wolverhampton- all weather -tapeta
5.15 Fine N Dandy did it very well at Southwell last time and is very well drawn tonight in his quest for the double. He is hard to assess as he was held here over C&D recenrly off a lower mark, but that was only his 2nd start after a break. He is also hard to fully assess as he is only a 5yo and was rated much higher in his youth and it’s possible he ‘s coming back to thayt kind of form. Both Your Gifter and Frank the Barber are regualrs here and are reliable types , but both are a bit high in the weigths. I have been watching Humour of late and he is better at tonight;s minimum trip. He’s competitively weighted , not badly drawn and Adam Kirby is a positive jockey booking aboard this C&D winner.
½ pt ew Humour @ 5/1
5.45 Secret Millionaire did it well on his first try here but can be easily taken on tonight with the worst of the draw and with going up to atrip he has never even placed in 12 tries !. Irish raider Fairy Foxglove is the short priced fav for the tracjk hat-trick , which is a possibility , but she is creeping up the weights.I was very sweet on Fuel Injection when he ran here recently, but he was caught wide and could never get competitive. He runs like he’ll appreciate this longer trip and is worth chancing off a good mark, and a good draw. Regunald Claude is a real hold up type and despite an outside draw has claims with his strong finish
¼ pt ew Fuel Injection @ 11/1
6.15 PREMIUM RACE
6.45 No Play in the maiden
7.15 A highlt competitive stayers handicap and Ireland are well represented with the down in class and most capable Asian Wing and track hat-trick seeking Mr Boss Man. The latter has won both iof his starts here quite snugly and despite a rise in the weights and class is worth sticking with. The kid ran well here last time and will do even better over this longer trip while Zakatal is also a progressive type on this surface.
½ pt win Mr Boss Man @ 11/2
7.45 A whole host of in form types here but of course the handicapper gets to work and makes it tougher for further successes. All of My Target, Supersta, Dougan and Black Dave are set stifferc examonations . and so is the inform veteran Corporla Maddox, but he’s a much bigger price and is entitled to be bang there at the finish.
½ pt ew Corporal Maddox @ 9/1
8.15 PREMIUM RACE
Dundalk – all weather – polytrack
5.30 A claimer and at the weights it can only be between Corker Hill , who appears regressive, Shukhov, who is in red hot form and Long Journey Home , who is comfortably the best at the weights , but when last seen a few months ago was badly out of sorts and he has his first run today for a new stable. The bookies makes Shukhiv the fav , as he is the most reliable and is worth a play because of that.
½ pt win Shukhov @ 6/4
6.00 Rockin The Blues showed much improved form last time over C&D and is a worthy fav as Belong looks regressive and the return to this longer trip is a biut mystifying as she looked a blatant non stayer last time at this distance. Carraigh Aonoir is amodest but consistent and goes well at this C&D and looks a good ew bet.
½ pt ew Carraigin Aonair @ 7/1
6.30 The lightly raced Enzani is very interesting back up in trip and will be bang there . SAharjah runs here practically every week and has looked better at shorter trips of late. There isn’t much between Carried and Whatever It Takes on form here recently and both have a fair chance. I’m with Pivot Bridge who ran very well in a valuable stayers event here last time and this drop in trip is very much in his favour . He’s well handicapped , is fine in this grade and already has two C&D wins on his CV.
3/4 pt ew Pivot Bridge @ 13/2
7.00 Crazy Tornado looked a bit short of pace when racing at this trip last time, but this looks a mite easier despite the big field and from a good draw is worth an interest.
¼ pt win Crazy Tornado @ 5/2
7.30 TRibel Path is a tough and reliable sort but looks mighty vulnerable tonight off a much higher mark. His main rivals are So Sensible, Sister Slew and Shabra Emperor and at the odds I’m with the latter.
¼ pt ew Shabra Emperor @ 12/1
8.00 Only 4 go and the class runner is Captain Joy , 6 times a winner round here and also likely to get his own way up front. The very wonderful Political Paddy is massively progressive and wont go down without a fight , and actually led them last time from the start, which is unusual , so the fav may wel not have a soft lead. Bishan Bedi can only be ridden from the back and with this unlikely to be strongly run, makes little appeal, but more than Geological who will struggle at this trip.
8.30 Arrowood is a well bred newcomer from a capable stable but would do well to get the better of Hasselmot or The Mouse Doctor, who have both run this C&D to a good level and are very , very hard to split. At this trip I give the nod to the latter, but not a monster play
½ pt win The Mouse Doctor @ 5/4
9.00 A very tough finale with the progressive Excelli asked a lot more by the handicapper and he’s up against a couple of reliable tough sorts in Hat Alnasaar and Poetic Choice. McGuigan continues to travel very well in his races but his record is now 0 from 12 !
