Secret Look 5.30 @ 4/1
So Beloved 3.55 @ 4/1
Chester- probably good ground on this very tight track
1.50 Love Oasis is regressing after a bright start while both Rosabelle and Megan Lily have decent form to be threats , but both have been very unlucky in the draw. The Nazca Lines is another with decent form and the first time visor may help from an ok draw but I’m going with a newcomer in Atteq. Running in the colours of moneybags syndicate this well bred colt cost £310,000 and trainer Richard fahey had a first time out 2yo winner here recently . he’s well drawn and with doubts about the rest, certainly worth a play
½ pt win Atteq @ 3/1
2.20 Predetermined has run two good races and this should be his first win, but I’m not playing at evens
2.55 Arcanada ran a cracker at Royal Ascot coming 4th in the Brittania but the drop in trip around this sharp track is way against him as we saw in his last race here. If ever a horse deserved a win it’s legend who has run huge races in his last three and he keeps getting pushed up the weights for his efforts, but able 3 pound claimer Joe Doyle makes it a bit easier and he is well drawn . he likes to take them along and he is realm trier. This could be his day as Dawaa has stamina problems, Penwortham is up in grade and the weights and Sky Ship could do with a bit further.
1/2 pt ew Lagenda @ 6/1
3.30 Man Look showed what he is capable of last time with an all the way , but a repeat looks unlikely with a 10 pound hit, a bad draw and he wont have an easy time up front. You can have grace doubts about most of these in terms of form and trip so it’s worth going for recent C&D winner Marnego, who surprised last time , but the 4 pound rise is pretty fair and the jockey, who knows him well, takes 7 pound off.
¼ pt ew Marengo @ 6/1
4.00 PREMIUM RACE
4.35 Bold front runners take some catching around this flying five furlongs and the well drawn and most likebale King Crimson will attempt to make every post a winning post. There are a couple of other speedballs in the field in Come On Dave and Gowanharry, but this pair are poorly drawn and hopefully the tip will be able to open up a commanding lead. He is a bit high in the weights and could be vulnerable close home, but he is a tenacious type who will give us a great run for our money.
3/4 pt ew King Crimson @ 7/2
5.10 You could give decent chance to half of this field but I’m with course winner Newera , who could surprise going up in trip.
¼ pt ew Newera @ 12/1
Newcastle – all weather- tapeta . The track is stiff and galloping
1.55 Poets Society is clearly the best of those which have run and this prominent racer has a win over C&D on his CV. He looks a very good fav indeed.
1.5pts winnPoets Society @ evens
2.30 A quality sprint and not a great deal of pace on with watchable sure to go on and is certainly in with a chance of taking this all the way, but he’s never run on synthetics. Canny kool is a front runner but going up in triop is unlikely to go off strong while the very wonderful Chookie Royale used to fly from the stalls, but he’s been under a cloud for some time and he hasn’t even been starting well. There’s a handful of contenders here but I’m with Pretend who won four last year , including on Wolver’s tapeta before being inneffctive on quick turf in a Class 1 spirint. He’s been off for over a year but that is not an issue with Godolphin horses. He likes to come from the back and if anywhere near his best, he’s a great price as he was always a short priced fav for last year’s wins including The Good Friday polytrack final
¾ pt win Pretend @ 13/2
3.05 PREMIUM RACE
3.40 The Northumberland Plate consolation race and plenty of in form types trying synthetics for the first time. I was very interested in Haines who always runs his race and the surface and trip is fine, but he has the very worst of the draw and has to be overlooked reluactantly. I’m with Stonecutter, who isn’t brilliantly drawn in14 , but it could have been worse. He’s won his last two at thos trip on tapets at Wolverhampton and the penalty could have been harsher. We know he stays the trip, likes the surface and is in form , good enough for me at long odds.
½ pt ew Stonecutter @ 20/1
4.15 PREMIUM RACE
4.50 Be Perfect ios well drawn and well weighte but this frint runner wont have an esy time of it up front as Hot Spice and weald of kent are likely to be serving it up from the start. A decent pace looks assured and if there is a war up front the leaders will have done their running and be spent forces for the final push. Chilworth Belle ran ok at this trip on hisfirst start for Conor Dore, who does well with new intakes. He previously ran well here over a shorter trip and this extra yardage, stronger pace and an ease in the weights, makes him very interesting.
½ pt ew Chilworth Bells @ 12/1
5.25 Fallen from a star was not on his best behaviour last time and this headstrong type will try to make all, but will have street artist pushing him all the way. I can’t see this pair featuring in the finish and I’m back with el Beau. He had a terrific time of it last year, hardly out of the frame in big fields both over hirdles and on the flat and picking up the odd race. He’s not been at his best for a while but there was more encouragement last time and from a declining mark is worth chancing on this new surface.
¼ pt ew El Beau @ 12/1
Windsor – very soft ground on this flat and galloping track
2.05 It’s which of Logi or On Her Toes handles the ground better, but others may take to it better.
2.40 Supporting Dark Shot has been the quickest way to the poor house as he’s still yet to win in 9 tries. He drops in trip today and tries very soft ground for the first time, and while he has little to beat and is 1/2 for the win, he’s easy to pass.
3.15 Both Baddi and Desert Encounter go for the hat-trick an dboth have looked capable off higher marks, but something is going to give today. It’s not a two horse race and veteran English Summer is still going well and he will welcome the ground more than most of these.
¼ pt ew English Summer @ 14/1
3.50 PREMIUM RACE
4.20 The key factor in this Class I mile is the going as few have ever showed their best in the mud. It’s been a while since Gabriel last rung the Victory Bell , but he has a clear chance at the weights and should handle the ground better than Chil The Kite , Johnny Barnes and Atlantic Sun wh are the dangers at the weights.
¼ pt ew Gabrial @ 11/2
4.55 This is highly winnable as many are going down in trip, most have never raced on ground this soft and a couple are switching from the all weather. Norse Magic is proving tricky to win with but he is well weighted and also likes the ground. Specilv has gone close off slightly higher marks on soft ground and I’m splitting my stake
¼ pt ew each and ¼ pt rev f/c Norse Magic @ 7/1 Specialv @ 20/1
5.30Not much pace in this and it gives the very able kevin Stott, arguably the best jockey in the field, to get Secret look ion the front rank and this one showed what he can when conditions suit with an all the way 3 lengths win three starts back over C&D in the mud. He’s now 7 pounds higher but has run respectably in all subsequent starts. The danger is the massively in form Gilmer, but this one is real hold type and there’s breat chance that the bird may have flown.
¾ pt ew Secret Look @ 4/1 ½ pt Rev F/c Secret look – Gilmer
Newmarket – soft ground on this undulating , galloping and stiff track.
2.10 Thise which have run have all showed ability but the ground is new to that trio while the other 3 are newcomers from big stables
2.45 I can understand Bateel bing the odds on fav as she likes the ground more than the others, but she should have done better last time and a first time hood is a bit iof a worry. Not arace for me with loads of ifs and buts.
3.20 A class 1 for juveniles and only Nations Alexnader has yet to win and she’s been 2nd both runs ! With the added dimension is the stiff track and the soft ground, it’s a nice race to watch
3.55 A class 1 and plenty have a chance at the weights , but the softer ground and the likelihood of the lead, gives the consistent and very tough So Beloved a great chance for a deserved win after some big runs of late. Both Muwarry and Brecon Rock will ensure iot’s far from an easy win.
½ pt ew So Beloved @ 4/1
4.25 Most of these fillies are lightly raced and soft ground today makes it very tough to work out who could come out on top. Worth watching as this looks a good heat.
5.00 Flight Officer returns after almost two years off and he did look destined for great things, so could make up for lost time but I prefer the chance of Awake My soul , a likeable and tough sort, who showed last time that he’s on the way back and the soft ground is no problem.
¼ pt ew Awake My Soul @ 6/1
5.35 Sorry folks , but another race to swerve as the ground is an unknown for most of these and plenty of these have progressive profiles and hard to know how good they are.
The Curragh- good to soft on this galloping, undulating and stiff track
3.00 After a good debut run, Intelligence Cross looks another winner for O’Brien – Moore, especially as his runners realy improve after their first run, but I’m not tempted at 4/5
3.35 Champagne and Rain has come back bigger and better this term and though he’s four pounds higher for an excellent 2nd over C&D last time on similar ground, he was given a bit to do and regualr rier Billy Lee can get it right today.
¾ pt win Champagne or Water @ 9/2
4.05 With Cougar Mountain a tough ride and also one who has his own ides about the game, English raider Sovereign Debt can gain another win in Ireland . He’s been unlucky not to win on ethis year and he ticks all the boxes. The unexposed Foxtrot Charlie is the danger
¾ pt win Sovereign Debt @ 7/2
4.40 A group 2 for juveniles and oplenty of pace on with a clutch of front runners. This will suit Peace Envoy who ran well at Royal Ascot and today’s longer trip and race make up will suit, but on the figures he has just the ame chance as the prolific and reliable King Electric , and while there is a slight doubt regarding this tough C&D on softish ground, he’s madssively overpriced for a horse of his ability.
½ pt ew King Electric @ 5/1
5.20 The irish derby and the Epsom Victor Harzand goes for the double . He had Idaho a few lengths behind that day and that one’s hoprs of a reversal lay with the slightly better ground and this stiffer track, but the double really looks on for this unexposed colt.
1pt win Harzand @ 4/5
6.00 A very open stayers handicap and it’s hard putting a red line through any . Abrham is running at the tip of his game and can run off the same mark for agood effort last time. Worth a small play
¼ pt ew Abraham @ 14/1
6.30 Flight Risk has gone close plenty of times this season and this front runner has a god make up, the ground and also this C&D in his favour. Looks most solid ew.
½ pt ew Flight Risk @ 6/1
7.00 I really fancied Dolce Strega at Royal Ascot but she was buffeted abiut early on and struggled ion that hot race on testing ground. This race is far easier and I’m sure she’s better than a handicapper.
½ pt win Dolce Strega @ 8/1
Selected Lingfield – all weather – polytrack
5.40 Pretty Vacant ran very well at Royal Ascot and is clearly the best on show , but he doesn’t have a polytrack pedigree which is the only piece missing for the perfect tip. At 4/6 , I can afford to miss this one
6.10 Both Whaleweigth Station and Copper cavalier have hinted of late that their time could be due, but wide draws make it tougher but not impossible. Packing held every chance here last time but could only manage a reasonable 4th. He;s well drawn tonight and at the odds, just a small play.
¼ pt win Packing @ 3/1
6.40 Nasuvian Pearl has run two good races at Kempton but one shocker at Chelmsford, where he couldn’t cope with the left handed track, as this is. This leaves the door open to match between Make Music and Izmir.
½ pt Rev F/c Izmir- Make Music
7.10 Red Flute is a realiable if limited sprinter who comes here on the back of another very good runover C&D. He’s well drawn to take these along but could be troubled up front by the flying Fine n Dandy, who is not seeing his races out. Diamond Charlie has a rare run in this grade and though hard to win with , this strong finisher surely has to make that pay tonight.
¼ pt win Diamond Charlie @ 5/2
7.40 Easy to swerve a rotten seller
8.10 All the Rage is getting the hang of things and was unlucky over C&D last time , but a two pound rise makes it tougher as does the booking of Rosie Jessop, who hasn’t ridden a winner since Adam was a lad ! Gimlet is entitled to go close and just gets the nod over Signed and Sealed and Schoolboy error
¼ pt ew Gimlet @ 6/1
8.40 None of these have ever run on this surface and many have never tried this trip. There are half a dozen possibles here and easy to swerve.
Doncaster- good ground on this flat and galloping track
5.50 No play in the 2yo race
6.20 Visieron goes for the hat-trick and looks well capable of defying the 6 pound penalty against modest company . Mysteral is going well but this longer trip is the concern while Hard Toffer, who is 1 from 1 , only won a seller.
3/4 pt winVisieron @ 11/8
6.50 Henpecked ran well last time but has been rewarded with a 5 pound hit for only coming second while The Dukkerer is also up 3 pounds for coming 2nd in lower grade . The drying ground is not in Miss Ranger’s faviur so I’m with La harvesse who was the victim of a steadily run race lat time and she’s well capable of taking this.
½ pt ew La Harvesse @ 9/1
7.25 Andar has had plenty of chances and has 5 seconds to his name in 7 races. He should really win this and is worth one last go.
½ pt win double Andar @ 6/4 Spanish City @ 6/5
7.55 Spanish city looked good when winning last time out and looks ahead of the handicapper
8.25 An absolute wide open handicap and with the majority of the pace horses being drawn high , that ois where the race should develop, but saying that, I’ve been watching Beardwood for some time and he hasn’t had the best of luck. He’s drawn low but will be finishing and this could be his day. Whatever happens, he’ll pop in soon.
¼ pt ew Beardwood @ 7/1
8.55 The very likeable Big Trip will try to take tis all the way and though he’ll give it a good go, he’s a bit high in the weights and there are few others who like to get stuck in early. Mass Rally is the fav but is hard to win with and again looks sure to finish well to no avail. I’m with the well handicapped Tiger Jim , who finally has the ground to suit and this is a bit easier to what he usually tries. Both Mishall and Mershadel have fair claims.
¼ pt ew Tiger Tim @ 8/1
