Thirsk- good to firm on this flat and quick track.
2.00 Essentially a match between Signoret and Rock Follies and as they are short priced joint favs, not interested.
2.30 This huge 3yo sprint handicap has a very winnable look about it with very few looking like a winner about to happen. Second Cut is well bred and is from a good stable and has showe bits of form to make him of interest at this slightly longer trip.
1/4 pt ew Second Cut @ 10/1
3.00 Bapak Asmara looks pretty ground dependent . He ran well on soft ground last year and flopped again on firm ground on his reappearance. There wasn’t much between Spend APenny and Spirit of Sound last time out and if the latter reverts to front running tactics, he could well open his account.
½ pt win Spend A Penny @ 6/1
3.30 This wont take much winning and I’m expecting the return to the longer trip and better ground to get Gabrials Hope an overdue win.
¾ pt ew Gabrials Hope @ 7/1
4.05 I was pretty keen on My Single Malt in this as this wont take much winning either, but he could perhaps do with a slightly longer trip and if Sam James decides to set the capable Dubai Hills to the front early on, he could take some catching. Still worth the risk with excellent apprentice Joe Doyle in the saddle.
½ pt ew My Single Malt @ 7/1
4.40 Another very winnable 3yo handicap as few of these have showed good form at his trip on quick ground. Burtonwood has been dropping in the weights, and does have some form at this trip on quick ground.
¼ pt ew Burtonwood @ 14/1
5.15 In danger of repeating myself, another very winnable race. Most of these are exposed as pretty ordinary handicappers, who rarely win but See Vermont does has a progressive profile, despite now being seven . His latest win was quite incredible as he bolted to the start and still won with ease. Could easily double up in this.
¾ pt win See Vermont @ 5/1
5.45 One more winnable race. Usually the high numbers hold the call here in sprints but the pace is all with the low numbers with veteran Red Cape and AJ Cook looking likely to take them along.Neiter of these look capable of a win and I’m with Dancing Maite, who won a similar event just a few runs ago and despite his lack of consistency, has to be worth a bet at massive odds.
½ pt ew Dancing Maite @ 20/1
Hamilton - good ground on this undulating and stiff track
Quite a lot of rain is forecast for the area and I’ve taken that into consideration with the tips.
2.10 No Bet
2.40 The high numbers in the draw should hold sway here with Economic Crisis, Rodrigo De Torres and Slim Chance all prominent racers. This could well inconvenience the in form LOthair, but you can;t rule him out. Rasaman is now firmly in the veteran stage but his recent second to the very much in form Manatee Bay just a few days ago is the best for on offer. He wont mind the ground softening and I would have been all over him like a rash if it wasn’t for the jockey booking. Gary Bartley doesn’t ride that often nowadays and rides very few winners, but with everything else in place I’m still on
½ pt ew Rasaman @ 8/1
3.10 It’s likely that the low numbers will have the call with Rise to Glory and Dylan Express liking to lead. Rise to Glory is capable of a win but is a bit of a one trick pony and needs things to go his way. For that reason I’m with saxonette , who ran a cracker on her reappearance and this C&Dand softer ground wont matter.New Lease of Life is still high in the weights and despute joining the in form stable of Keith Dalglish, still has a bit to prove.
¾ pt win Saxonette @ 7/2
3.40 Quite a few in form types here but all of Galilee Chapel, Call of Duty, I’m Dapper Too and Nonagon have been unlucky in the draw. One who hasn’t shared that fate is the very much in form Chief Executive. It’s now or neverfor this one now as he goes up 7 pounds after today, whatever happens. He’ll have conditions to suit and could well get the double
½ pt ew Chief Executive @ 6/1
4.15 This wont take much winning and any softening of the ground will be very much inthe favour of Act Your Shoe Size, but she’ll cope if the rains don’t arrive. She is an infrequent winner, but this is a golden opportunity.
½ pt ew Act Your Shoe Size @ 11/2
4.50 Last Supper very much gives the impression that she is a big improver as her hurdles form suggests that she is come of age. I’m with Remember Rock, who is a likeable tyoe, whi always runs his race and this longer trip could even help.
½ pt ew Remember Rocky @ 6/1
5.25 If the rains come as expected, it should be easy for Secret Lightning, but weather watch.
½ pt win Secret Lightning @ 2/1
Cartmel- good ground on this sharp , undulating and unique track
Rain is also forecast for this area, so please weather watch. I’m looking at horse that like a bit of give in the ground
2.20 Sam Lord has dropped a lot in the weights and should be fine with this C&D. He wouldn;t mkind a bit of rain and there aren’t many here with strong credentials.
¼ pt ew Sam Lord @ 8/1
2.50 No Bet
3.20 The Absent Mare is a likeable type who travels across the Irish Sea for top handler Gordon Elliot. Pindar showed a welcome return to form last time and this long run should play into his strengths.
¼ pt ew Pindar @ 6/1
3.50 Alternatif is the odds on fav on his chasing debut and should just about do it, but he will find River Maigue a tough rival, but this one has just left the top stable of Nicky Henderson
4.25 Cygnet never quite reached the heights he looked capable of but has done well in Hunter Chases of late. He did very well last time at Fontwell where he won with ease despite the very soft ground.Today’s ground shouldn’t be a testing and despite tacking a longer trip, has to make the short list .I’ve been pretty keen on Special Portrait in his last two runs , and he’s lost the jockey both times. It’s no surprise that his former jockey is back in the saddle and he can’t be faraway.
½ pt ew Special Portrait @ 9/2
5.00 Rolling Dough goes well here and looks to have been prepared for this but at the odds, I’m on Beyondtemptation. I tip her up quite a bit and she owed us nothing. She is a brave front runner, whi shouldn’t have much company and all the way winners are frequent at this track. If the raindoes come, so much the better. It’s not a great field.
¾ pt ew Beyondtemptation @ 16/1
5.35 Captain Brown did it very well last time , but has flopped here in the past. Short Takes coul take ahand in the finish of the rains come as could Restraint in Trade. I’m with the well handicapped Morning With Ivan , who has dropped like a stone in the weights this season but has still showed some signs of life. The rain would be a bi plus and he is blinkered first time , which has worked for the stable in the past.
¼ pt ew Morning With Ivan @ 10/1
