Today's Multi - another very nice return yesterday with an ew trixie, all placed at good odds
3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Copper And five 2.40 @ 7/1
Getareason 3.25 @ 5/1
Albegone 4.55 @ 2/1
Selected Market Rasen - good ground on this mostly flat and sharp track . Rain forecast for the afternoon so ground could change for later races.
1.10 You can give a chance to most of these but most are happiest on good ground and if the rain gets into the ground it will favour recent C&d winner Lady Babs, still on a workable mark and is actually ground versatile .
¼ pt win Lady Babs @ 3/1
2.15 Hard to get excited about the prospects of many and worth a dabble on Black Lightning , who showed more last time with the drop in ratings and wont mind any rain .
¼ pt win Black Lightning @ 13/2
2.50 If the rain does get into the ground it could seriously scupper the chance of the in form fav Blood Eagle, who is up in the weights and trip anyway . Glacier Fox showed a lot more last time over C&D finishing well and does has bits of form on easy ground . Lively longshot .
¼ pt ew Glacier Fox @ 22/1
3.25 Ballyhome simply loves it here as In 9 tries , comes out with 4 wins and 4 places but his consistency doesn’t go unnoticed by the handicapper and is up a further 3 pounds and is not at his best on easy ground . This wont take much winning and the consistent Getareason is on a fair mark and soft ground no issue . Nice play .
½ pt win Getareason @ 5/1
4.00 This will take little winning and the consistent Imperial Acolyte ticks the boxes for mark, trip and ground and should be landing this for a deserved success after good runs in defeat .
½ pt win Imperial acolyte @ 7/4
Market Rasen placepot
Selected Redcar – good to firm on this flat and galloping track
2.05 Against this opposition Boltway looks a penalty kick after a smooth win at Donny in his first handicap and first try at this trip . Will be hard to beat.
¾ pt win Boltaway @ 11/10
2.40 Not a deep race and the fav ilza’eem has clear claims but so does Copper and Five , who willingly broke his duck at Donny last time on quick ground , with a long way back to anything else . He responded well to the change in tactics racing close to the pace and could overcome a stiff 6 pound hit .
½ pt win Copper and Five 7/1
3.15 Not much between many of these in a competitive claimer but Class Clown has been showing up well in handicaps and this front runner has a good chance at the weights .
¼ pt ew Class Clown @ 9/1
3.50 Not a deep race and the in form Maximum Risk has to be considered but he’s creeping up the weights and the drop in trip on quick ground not ideal. Almost An Angel has been showing up well of late and on the evidence of his last run , the ground and C&D should be fine .
¼ pt ew Almost An Angel @ 6/1
4.25 PREMUM RACE
4.55 Not a deep finale and an excellent chance for Albegone to nail a deserved win after a number of big runs in defeat . On a good mark, likes this type of C&D and ground and holds stronger claims than the other joint fav Jet Set Go who drops in trip .
¾ pt win Albegone @ 2/1
Royal Ascot Multi
3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Suesa 3.40 @ 3/1
Empress Josephine 4.20 @ 9/2
Create Bliss 5.00 @ 5/1
Selected Royal Ascot – very soft ground on this stiff and galloping track
2.30 The vast majority of these 2yos have ever encountered ground as soft as this so fishing in the dark a bit and while the fav Flotus impressed on debut at Goodwood on soft ground, it’s hard coming from the back on ground this bad and this track and even superstar Palace Pier couldn’t manage it on Champions Day ,while the 2nd fav Hello You impressed , another coming off the pace but on the Wolver tapeta . The pace to the race will come from Woodcote winner Oscula and Aidan O’Brien’s Prettiest , who won first time out on easy ground at Navan , and the top stable rarely has debut winners and when they do, tend to be pretty smart. These are drawn together and could well have the race to themselves . Hard to split.
¼ pt ew each & ¼ pt rev fc Oscula @ 8/1, Prettiest @ 7/1
3.05 Very few have even raced on ground as deep as this and a chance is taken with the ex-French Belloccio, who was 2 from 2 there, both on testing ground . He’s been set stiff tasks this season but bred for this trip and with the ground in his favour could surprise .
¼ pt win Bellocio @ 6/1
3.40 The Group 1 Commonwealth Stakes and with pace all over the track , the draw shouldn’t have a bearing and it looks very much to concern the three market leaders who all tick important boxes . Dragon Symbol has made terrific progress in this his first season and last time was denied narrowly on heavy ground at Haydock and this stiffer track will suit. He’s a prominent racer and wont be stopping . Campanelle runs for US trainer Wesley Ward and won her first 3 races last season , including here and is proven on the ground and trip and still ran well in her 4th run when finding the mile trip too far . Slight preference goes to the French filly, Suesa who is a perfect 4 from 4 , winning good races as she pleased and proven on deep ground . All wins have come at Chantilly which is a different track from today but they wouldn’t be coming here if they thought a stiff track would be against her . She’s ideally drawn in the middle and gets the vote.
½ pt win Suesa @ 3/1
4.20 Another Group 1 and Aiden O’Brien holds a strong hand with the 1000 Guineas winner Mother Earth having strong claims as she did well next time in the French equivalent on deep ground but preference is for the lightly raced Empress Josephine , who landed the Irish 1000 Guineas in the mud in the Curragh , running at a higher level than her stable mate on the ground . she’ll be coming late and fast and a number of front runners should set this up for her style of racing .
½ pt win Empress Josephine @ 9/2
5.00 Another big field handicap and with early pace spread across the track, draw shouldn’t be an issue and Aiden O’Brien has the fav in the consistent Friendly who ran a blinder in the Irish 1000 guineas, but always suspicious when a horse runs 20 pounds better in one race and could well be flattered so work to do off this tough mark . I’m with another Irish raider in the lightly raced Create Belief who in 3 runs at this trip is 2 wins and a place and on deep ground is the same ! She was a very easy winner at the Curragh in the mud and has been hit with a hefty 10 pound penalty , but is still improving and is importantly tactically versatile . Like her chance.
¾ pt win Create Belief @ 5/1
5.35 PREMIUM RACE
6.10 A massive field for this 5 furlong sprint with early pace everywhere and the winner is likely to come off the pace. Shalaa Asker has run well on soft ground and is on a fair mark and stays this trip well. Worth a dabble .
¼ pt ew Shalaa Asker @ 22/1
Ascot placepot ( I was 1 out with yesterday’s £6000 placepot ! )
Selected Newmarket -currently good ground on this undulating , stiff and galloping track but rain in progress and going likely to change .
5.50 The fav Wink of An Eye could be vulnerable up in the ratings and grade and form on soft ground poor. Something Enticing holds her form very well and remains on a good mark and soft ground and probably this C&d no issue .
¼ pt ew Something Enticing @ 6/1
