My selections remain of a very high standard but the Gods haven’t been with us the last few days. A number of fallers when in winning positions and also an awful lot of long priced seconds. All will change today
Taunton- quickish ground on this quick track.
1.10 Only 4 matter here. Transfer only won a seller last time but in the context of this race , he is a contender. Southway Queen usually competes over further than this trip and she may well get outpaced , but will be staying on. Artic Night is also running well, but his stable hot spell has cooled, but it’s not out of form. The tip is topweight Regal Flow, who has a very god handicap mark and ran perfectly respectably on his reappearance at Wincanton, and the slightly longer trip will suit.
½ pt win Regal Flow @ 15/2
1.40 A big field and a wide open handicap. Uriah Heep is favourite and certainly has a very decent chance. Brinestine is fancied but this track and ground look sure to find him out. Do pooleoni is from a very hot stble and has the form but the quick ground could well scupper his chances. I ike a couple of longshots. Ladies Dancing continues to drop in the weights but could well benefit from a stiffer test, but at 14/1 he’s of interest.Cruise In Style reverts to hurdles and he was travelling oh so sweetly last time at Uttoxter when the very soft ground just found him out. He is my selection but the lightly raced OscarJane has a good weight and can go close especially with rookie trainer Johnny Farrelly going well.
¼ pt ew Cruise in Style @ 16/1
2.10 Not a great race for a bet. Forrester’s Folly has good form figures, but don’t be fooled , this trip is too far. Western King is in hot form but is now very high in the weights. Guess Again is well handicapped but the ground is not his optimum. Both The Mumper and Coole River has stamina concerns. Sin Bin ran well at Aintree over hurdles , but that wasn’t the greatest race ever/ I’m having a little on Bertie Boru, who is bred to make a far better chaser and his rating is very attractive.
¼ pt ew Bertie Boru @ 9/1
2.40 Cup Final is the 6/4 favourite and should oblige but I wont be backing him at that price in this big field of novices. No Bet
3.10 A weak handicap and Sprininherstep has to prove that she can produce her best on quick ground. Bollin Judith did really well last time on ground softer than ideal and back on a sound surface looks a good bet to come home first.
1pt win Bollin Judith @ 9/4
3.40 A very weak handicap , so weak that the favourite , and most likely winner is the very modest Quayside Court, who won this last year by a distance and could well repeat the dose today.
1.25 pts win Quayside Court @ 3/1
4.10 It’s between joint favourites Assam Black and Minella Scamp and there’s no value having a bet . No Bet
Southwell- fibresand surface , which is a very specialist surface
12.20 Many of these wont get the trip, these are: West End Lad, Xpres Maite and Mitchell. Many are trying fibresand for the first time and we just don’tknow how they’ll go on it until they are racing. These include MrLando and My destination. There’s been quite a bit of money for Amitired this morning on his first run for Marjorie Fife and this one has never been out of the frame in 7 runs here !! However he doesn’t run well fresh so that’s a concern. Madeira Girl runs this track really and is well enough priced for a bet.
¾ pt win Madeira Girl @ 9/2
12.50 Stoney Quine was a winning premium bet for me recently and he has the edge because we know that he acts on this surface, but the trip could well be too sharp. He has a couple of rivals who are well weighted but have yet to try fibresand. A small bet is recommended.
½ pt win Stoney Quine @ 5/2
1.20 Supa U is by far the best in at the weights , but he has nevertasted fibresand and neither have any of his rivals, but the price isn’t bad considering his chances and he’s worth the risk for modest money.
3/4pt win Supa U @ 2/1
1.50 Winterwell is odds on and she hasn’t been out for nearly 6 months, the stable is not going great and she tries fibresand for the first time, but it’s a very weak race and there’s no real alternative. But she’s no value whatsoever at odds on . No Bet
2.20 A competitive claimer and the best in at the weights are Justonefor theroad, who should win by a street if taking to the surface, Fathsta, who might find this trip too long and Illustrius Prince, who has completely lost the plot. Llewellyn has form on this surface, but not at this rating . Capaill Liath has been far more competitive since running in this grade and if he goes on the surface has a big say.Silly Billy continues to run well, he goes on the surface and is worth a little each way.
¼ pt ew Silly Billy @ 6/1
2.50 PREMIUM RACE
3.20 Moorhouse lad Royal Bajan, Cadeuax Pearl and Tom Sawyer will try to make the pace ensuring pace right across the track. None of these are running well enough to hold on and the in form Monsieur Joe can have the race run to suit and his strong finish will see him home.
1.25 pts win Monsieur Joe @ 3/1
3.50 Another sprint handicap.Hi Filwah is certainly on a roll but is up in the weights, down in trip and trying fibresand for the first time. The trip is too short for both Gebrealyze and Caldercruix. Flash City isn’t running badly at all off his mark. He has a chance to take them along on the rails and he has form on the surface.
½ pt ew Flash City @ 10/1
Ludlow- goodish ground on this tight and quick track.
1.0 >Aglaophonos is 6/4 favourite to take revenge on Ballyglasheen with his weight pull and should succeed but the ground may be a little softer than ideal. There’s uncertainty about the ground, and if there was give in the ground Brave Helios will make his stamina pay. He’s backable at the odds anyway>
¼ pt ew Brave Helios @ 5/1
1.30 Henderson runs two here and they are hard to separate as they are very lightly raced and they are Nesterenko and Free thinking. Macarthur is a consistent sort , especially on a course like today’s but he’s only 5/1 and a few of these could be better.
2.00 Rydalis is the favourite and is bang in for but would prefer softer ground. Jayandbee is running well but is up in class. Cootehill is a real course specialist but over a little shorter . Inside Dealer has a real big chance , and almost made the premium bets. He’s running really well off this handicap mark the course and trip are fine and he’s fine on good and good to soft. He’s a great each way .
1pt ew Inside Dealer @ 8/1
2.30 Premum Bet
3.00 A huge field and amateur jockeys, so it’s a race to avoid but two f interest if you have to have a bet areIsola Bella and Tribal Dance . NO Bet
3.30 A wide open novices hurdle a with some promising types racing. It’s very hard to pick from Anteros,Gallery Exhibition, Dreams and Songs and Forgivienne. I’m watching . No bet
4.00 Sign of Victory from the Henderson stable showed a good level of form last season but this track is totally different and recent course winner On Tour,is a real tough customerand can give the weight away.
½ pt win On Tour @ 4/1
Kempton – all weather
4.20 A very weak opener. My Gigi is the even money favourite but she’s down in trip, hasn’t much form on polytrack and has been missing for over 3 months. Clear Loch can take advantage and win for the first time.
1.25 pts win Clear Loch @ 11/4
4.50 A return to this trip can see Dancing Sands in the winner’s enclosure . The newcomers don’t appear to be anything special. Dancing Sands is only 5/4 and that’s too short. NO bet
5.20 A very interesting race but not one for a bet as many unraced well bred types take on some lightly raced promising types.Watch and learn, like me . No Bet
5.50 Havelovewilltravel is the 6/4 favourite in this 14 runner handicap. He’s young and improving but that’s far too short. There are a couple of alternatives. Flamborough Breeze, but the draw is off-putting. Wake Up Little Suzie has chance , but Araqella’s form has not been supported by his rivals recent runs. Also he’s been off for a while. The tip is Lady Sylvia, who is closely matched with the favourite on a line thorugh course specialist Diplomatic. She’s a bit higher in theweight but SDS keeps the ride and she’s a huge price.
½ pt ew Lady Sylvia @ 14/1
6.20 It wasn’t a bad seller when Syrenka opened her account and can come out on top of a weak field.
1.25 pts win Syrenk @ 7/2
6.50 A wide open nursery and I give the nod to course winner Fiftyshadesofred, whose only subsequent run was in much higher class. Back to this class he’s Ok priced.
1/2 pt win Fiftyshadesofred
7.20 Stomp is very well handicapped and should go on the surface and is the most likely winner, but I can’t play at 6/4 No bet
7.50Emakanatt is not great value but is the most likely winner for his in form stable. He’s dropped to a very attractive handicap mark and is in really god form. Both First Class and Golden Desert can make their presence felt.
¾ pt win Emakanatt @ 10/3
