Selected Kempton – all weather – polytrack
1.55 The admirable omnivega has come a long way in a short time and is an obvious contender today , so is the progressive Win O’clock , but both Good Birthday and summeronsevenhills can’t be ruled out .
2.25 This looks a match between the hat-trick seeking Itkaan , a smart winner on turf on his comeback spin , and the way he won , could be up to the 7 pound hit, but the place horses haven’t done a great deal for the form . He’s also a C&d winner , but is at his best when dominating and wont have an easy time up front from a wide draw and a couple of other confirmed front runners in the field. Impatient runs this track really well and comes here on the back of a close 2nd in a competitive handicap here, when he missed the break , but flew home to be narrowly denied . Well drawn today and the step back up in trip well in his favour .
¾ pt win Impatient @ 3/1
3.30 Mishal star has easily the beat form , but it was achieved on soft turf , but the pedigree offers hopes of acting on the surface , but I can pass at odds on.
4.05 A low grade sprint and despite the wide draw I’m chancing Badger Berry , who has showed that he knows how to win , landing an event on the Southwell fibresand in the Winter and recently resumed duties with a decent run on this surface . Strong finisher .
¼ pt ew Badger Berry @ 8/1
4.40 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Doncaster – probably good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.10 The clear form horse is Latest Generation ,a good 3rd on debut at Sandown in what looked a decent maiden , but even money no use to me up in trip, on a very different track and against a host of newcomers from smart stables .
1.40 A tricky nursery but A Boy Named Ivy won well at this trip at Ayr and was a close 2nd at Haydock off a slightly lower mark . Looks likely to run his race again and go close .
¼ pt ew A Boy Named Ivy @ 8/1
2.10 A good quality Class 1 sprint and interestingly a couple of juveniles take on proven elders , and despite receving chunks of weights, still a bit to do at the weights , and one of these is Acklam Express , 3rd on his first start , but won his next three. The fav is the progressive and reliable Moss Gill, who was 3rd in a group 1 last time , a career best run, but was ridden with the frame in mind, so could have been flattered . Previously he was all out to win at York in a Class 1 event , where Tarboosh was a very unlucky close 4th and is 3 pound better off today . A good pace is on the cards which will help this late player . The useful Dakota Gold could struggle under his penalty on drying ground on this speed track . The irish raider Urban Beat can’t be ruled out , especially with Dettori riding .
¼ pt ew Tarboosh @ 8/1
2.40 It’s still called The Legends Race , a wonderful annual spectacle for retired jockeys , and it’s been a most profitable race for yours truly with some jockeys a lot younger than most and last year a youthful Sammy Jo Bell prevailed . Because of Covid 19 restrictions, today’s race is for current jockeys and the fav is the likely pacesetter in Late arrival , whose yet to win , but is rarely far away and is the one to beat at the weights and Will Buick rides, but not sure if a straight mile on drying ground is his thing. As you might expect in a field this size ,there’ll be a few others shovelling the coal on early and this could ho to a late player . Flying dragon is mightily consistent , and was placed in this last year ,but so hard to win with while Hammer Gun always runs well here and was also placed last year . At the odds I’m wit Catch My Breath , a good winner at Ayr and then a good 4th at Redcar and a line can be drawn through his latest try on tapeta. This late player will be finishing strongly up the stands rails . lively longshot
¼ pt ew Catch My breath @ 22/1
3.15 PREMIUM RACE
3.45 Sky defender is a typically tough and reliable Mark Johnston inmate, who is still competitive despite now being on a lofty mark of 104 , and the young apprentice takes a welcome 7 pounds off his back .This has a winnable look to it .
¼ pt ew Sky defender @ 9/1
4.15 The pace is likely to be set by Shoot To Kill , but could struggle as the race warns up on this speed track .Tanasoq has dropped to a very good mark and is tempting but the nod goes to the other Paul Midgeley runner in Line Of reason , who’s been consistent of late off this mark and this could be run to suit his strong finish .
¼ pt ew Line of Reason @ 8/1
Selected Uttoxeter- good ground on this sharpish, undulating track with a galloping straight
1.30 Very few come into this in any kind of form , the exception being Court IN Matera, who is a maiden , but wont get a better chance and a capable rider aboard in a race for conditionals .
¼ pt win Court In Matera @ 5/1
2.00 PREMIUM RACE
3.05 The useful pair of Longhouse sale and The butcher’s Said are difficult to split and more uncertainty regarding this trip, too far for Longhouse, too short for the Butcher ?? which could let in the consistent Ballyhome ???
3.35 PREMIUM RACE
4.10 Kings Temptation goes for the track hat-trick but they have been quite soft races and this much more competitive , and returns from a break. The fav is Sirobbie, a useful hurdler with a great record here and did little wrong on his chase debut in a hot novice event . Montys’ reward and the consistent Flying Verse are not out of this and neither is the in form Bermeo, who goes well here and at the odds, worth a flutter .
¼ pt ew Bermeo @ 14/1
4,45 The longer trip could help tricky Customer but the well treated Vinnie The hoodie remains hard to win with and very in and out . Illuminated Beauty stepped up on previous with a good 3rd over C&D and gets the nod on that .
¼ pt win Illuminated Beauty @ 6/1
5.15 An open finale and a number of form horses going up in trip . Innerpickle is rarely far away and was a good 2nd here last time , shaping as if a longer trip would suit and this could be his day.
½ pt win Innerpickle @ 4/1
Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta
4.00 These are all very infrequent winners but still looks likely to be fought out by the more consistent pair of Thegreyvtrain and Qaaraat , all down to who wants it more , and neither known for battling qualities .
¼ pt rev fc Thegreyvtrain – Qaaraat
4.35 Another weak event and even the fav in Lady florence , has question marks up in the weights and switching surface , but at least she knows how to win .
5.10 The likes of Baileys Breathless and Electric Blue are proven over C&D and on fair marks, but both badly drawn . Silent Queen is certainly knocking on the door , on a workable mark and nicely drawn on her 2nd start for an up and coming stable . She is proven on the surface and should be fine over the extra furlong , but not for me at just 6/4 .
5.45 Hard to split the form horses in abduction and lockdown Latchico and also a few intersting newcomers in Harworth and ghazaaly .
6.15 An easy 2yo to swerve with far too much guesswork needed
6.45 An extraordinarily weak maiden and very much a match between Precisely and Pretty Pickle, but no apparent edge for either .
7.15 Gold Arch comes to life here and is 4 from 5 and despite now being high in the weights is preferred over some unexposed 3yos .
¼ pt win Gold arch @ 9/4
7.45 The hat-trick seeking Capla Princess has more to do off her new mark . A strong pace is assured with both Hild Fast . most unlikely to stay the trip and Let Her Loose , now high in the weights, sure to go out hard which could set things up nicely for the lightly raced Bobba Tee, a good 2nd here last time .
¼ pt win Bobba Tee @13/2
8.15 The ones in this claimer with high ratings are nowhere near their best while the others are modest with rotten win records . Very easy race to swerve .
