Today’s Fortune for a fiver
6 50p doubles , 4 25p trebles & 50p ew acca
Sands in Time 1.30 @ 11/8
Lawn Ranger 2.40 @ 9/2
Chindit 1.50 @ 7/4
Prabeni 3.55 @ 11/4
Selected Fontwell – good ground on this sharp track
1.10 Escapability has a lot of useful form in the book and his recent 2nd in a hot handicap makes him clearly the one to beat, but we’ve said that before and he is now 0 from 20 in all races . Just a small play , but he should be winning this with ease .
¼ pt win Escapability @ 6/4
1.40 Not a deep event and the short priced fav is the ex- French Fancy Ball, but despite 2 wins in bumpers is very hard to assess, but he’s joined the good stable of Gary Moore for £60,000 , so plenty is expected but a better bet is an ew play on the clear form horse Bashful Boy @ 9/2
½ pt ew Bashful Boy @ 9/2
2.15 The useful Getaway Trump is 1/5 to land this bit does come here under a cloud and longer trip a headache and both his rivals are no mugs .
2.50 A chance can be given to quite a few in this but Isle of Wolves is massively consistent on the flat and showed promise last season in limited tries over hurdles in the mud. Is on a very fair mark and as usual , should run his race .
¼ pt ew Isle Of Wolves @ 9/1
3.25 Beat The judge got the better of the prolific Ashutor recently in a hot novice event and is better off at the weights, and longer trip should be fine .
¼ pt win Beat The Judge @ 11/4
3.55 This looks a match between the 4 timer seeking Yes No Maybe So , but he was all out last time to prevail and is 4 pounds higher and faces a longer trip . Prabeni bounced back to form last time with a win over C&D and as he won so well, the 4 pound hit shouldn’t stop him .
½ pt win Prabeni @ 11/4
Selected Donny- good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.15 This has a winnable look to it and no surprise that the consistent Matthew Flinders is a short priced fav, but the drop in trip on drying ground could catch him out. La Trinidad has been in cracking form of late and ran a blinder first time at this trip and also using hold up tactics , coming from a long way back to be nearest at the finish ‘ He’s harshly been stuck up 4 pounds, but could have more to offer at this distance .
¼ pt win La Trinidad @ 11/2
1.50 The short priced fav is Albasheer, an impressive winner on debut , but on the bare form, needs to find a chunk to improve past the useful Chindit, who is 2 from 2 and no issues with ground or C&D.
½ pt win Chindit @ 7/4
2.25 The pace to the race will come from Merass, justanotherbottle, konchek and A Momentofmadness , who are drawn low to middle, so high numbers may not get into this unique distanced event . A momentofmadness has run two stormers in this with a win and an unlucky 2nd and has dropped to a most workable mark . He showed a lot more last time and is preferred, despite the usual hood missing . wentworth Falls is a very different type of horse , as he’s a late player, hence his modest win record but is very consistent , so a worry seeing him run a rare tame one last time , but we all have an off day .
½ pt ew A momentofmadness @ 7/1 ¼ pt ew Wentworth Falls @ 7/1 - ¼ pt rev fc
3.00 A good quality Group 2 and pretty easy to read with all of Maries diamond , Shine So Bright and Breathtaking look sure to bomb out setting a very strong pace and with the three of them battling hard for domination , not hard seeing this trio fall into a big hole as the race warms up and the whole complexion of the race will change. This will suit the racing styles of all of the others but the pair to concentrate on is the once very useful Limato, who is still rated a worthy and lofty 115 and won his only start this season well, but despite being a C&d winner , his best runs in recent seasons have come at Newmarket , so may not have the toe for this speedy C&d, so preference for the useful One Master .
¼ pt win One Master @7/2
3.35 The St Leger and there are four at the head of the market in the 4 timer seeking pair of hukum and galileo chrome , who both still remain in the category of could be anything and the proven class pair of Santiago and Pyledriver , but after his win last time carrying a penalty to land a Group 2, the latter gets the nod . He only cost connections £10,000, so dream on .
¼ pt win Pyledriver @ 4/1
Selected Chester – good ground on this flat and very tight track where low numbers in the draw have the call.
1.30 sands of Time went close to winning first time out over C&D and looks good to make all from a good draw .
3/4 pt win Sands Of time @ 11/8
2.40 Lawn Ranger bounced back to form last time with a typically gutsy display over C&d making all. The 2 pound hit could have been worse and really like his chance as he’s likely to have an easy time up front for most of the trip .
½ pt win Lawn Ranger @ 9/2
4.20 track specialist Bossipop is well drawn and looks the leader , but Spirit of May may be serving it up wide . Despite a nudge up the weights, a win for Bosipop wouldn’t surprise but there are a host of dangers. The Richard Fahey pair in Penwortham and Powrallied both have clear claims as does late player Brian The snail in the same colours of the other two belonging to prolific Chester winner Dr Marwan Koukash , but the nod goes to the well handicapped and drawn Venturous , who has showed of late he’s approaching peak form .
¼ pt ew Venturous @ 8/1
Selected leopardstown – good to firm on this flat and galloping track
2.35 A massive field for this massively open good grade handicap but I’m happy to play the consistent Halimi , down to a good mark , on ideal ground and runs this C&D well
¼ pt ew Halimi @ 16/1
3.10 PREMIUM RACE
4.10 The highest rated horse on the planet, the most wonderful Ghaiyyath , goes for the season 5 timer and this magnificent front runner will of course be very hard to beat . he goes an end to end gallop and the only thing that can beat him if the Aidan O’Brien runners gang up on him ,giving him an uncomfortable ride , but I can’t see anything but another glorious win and not bad odds considering .
¾ pt wi Ghaiyyath @ 8/13
4.45 PREMIUM RACE
5.15 a good quality Group 3 and the short priced fav is the Irish derby runner up in the lightly raced Tiger Moth , but preference is for the massively progressive Patrick Sarsfield and this longer trip could see an even bigger run .
½ pt win Patrick Sarsfield @ 7/2
Selected Lingfield – good to firm on this undulating and sharp track
2.45 Willa is rarely far away but wins continue to be elusive . She ran well put up to this trip last time and this looks winnable with both Single and September Power on tricky marks .
3.20 A good quality Class 3 and an easy lead is up for grabs which I expect long time absentee Walton street to use to his advantage . He has every chance at the weights and the absence unlikely to be an issue for this top stable .
¼ pt win Walton Street @ 3/1
3.50 Hiconic has been magnificent over hurdles of late and is now rated 120, which is 84 on the flat , and here she is on a lowly mark of 57 , as the majority of her runs have been on the all weather and at unsuitably short distances . you would expect her to land this with the minimum of fuss.
½ pt win Hiconic @ 11/8
5.00 This has a winnable look to it and worth being with the well drawn and progressive Capla Berry , who was 2 from 2 this season until last time when in with a every chance until clipping heels and taking a fall , make amends today .
¼ pt win Capla Berry @ 10/3
6.00 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Musselburgh – good to firm on this flat and quick track
The majority of races have contenders who are very much of a muchness with nothing appearing to have the edge .
4.35 PREMIUM RACE
6.15 A weak event but the well treated Rosemay showed more last time and could be ready to strike.
¼ pt win Rosemay @ 8/1
