Selected Ponty – good to soft on this undulating , galloping and very stiff track . Rain is forecast for most of the day so going likely to get testing and strong stayers are the ones to be with .
1.00The fav is Strike Red who brings the best form to the table but that came on the Newcastle tapeta over a shorter trip and weakened badly at this trip at Donny on good ground , so this much stiffer track on softer ground , hardly ideal conditions . Burscough runs in famous colours and showed up Ok on debut in the Redcar mud when badly drawn and stayed on very well in the closing stages . He’s not well drawn and the good stable has little success here, but this wont take much winning .
¼ pt win Burscough @ 4/1
2.05 The very wonderful Highwaygrey is 4 from 4 over C&D this season , but was all out last time and the 5 pound hit wont help and neither will the slower ground , but still hard to rule out. Arctic Sound bounced back to form last time with a good 3rd at Ayr on easy ground dropping to this workable mark . This stiffer track should help and is preferred .
½ pt win Arctic Sound @ 10/3
2.40 Frankel’s Storm is very hard to predict but the others all have claims . Tricky heat .
3.45 The overnight rain is very welcome to the chance of the mud loving and stiff track loving Ey Up It’s Mick and from the best of the draw, wont be far away. Alminoor recently resumed duties after a lengthy break , but could bounce today from a wide draw going up in trip .
¼ pt win Ey Up It’s mick @ 4/1
4.20 This is a most competitive finale and all 7 tick plenty of boxes. Mews House is a C&D winner and handles soft ground so certainly worth a dabble at nice odds.
¼ pt ew Mews House @ 11/1
Selected Perth – good to soft on this flat and sharp track , speed track
1.10 Quite an open start to proceedings and all of Always Tipsy, despite the long absence, The Composer , Buckled , Big Penny and MIlanstorm , who should improve for the longer trip have to be considered but the nod goes to Big Penny , two good runs this season and was going well over C&D last year when unluckily brought down looking the winner, the run coming off around this mark .
¼ pt ew Big Penny @ 13/2
1.45 Red Missile is an 80 rated flat horse and didn’t come cheap being sold to the Lucinda Russell stable, but she doesn’t have a good record with new intakes . Both Billy The Squid and Ten Thousand Stars bring decent experience to the table while both Jan Wellens and Le Maginfique come here from the flat and are possible for good stables .
4.00 PREMIUM RACE
5.45 The reliable Petite Ganache is rarely far away and a deserved win can drop her way .
¼ pt win Petite Ganache @ 5/2
No Perth Placepot
Selected Newmarket – good to soft on this undulating , stiff and galloping track
1.15 Toromana had just over a length advantage over albert Camus when they came 2nd & 3rd on debut behind a runaway winner at Ascot and no reason why the placings should be reversed today . as you would expect In a Newmarket maiden , there are some interesting newcomers but as the two with experience both have Group 1 entries, look the pair to concentrate upon .
¾ pt win Toromana @ 11/8
2.25 PREMIUM RACE
3.35 The front running Withhold is a perfect 2 from 2 at this track and should get the run of the race from the front. The clear danger is the useful Mildenberger , but returns from a 4 months break and has been keep to the all weather of late .
½ pt win Withhold @ 13/8
4.10 Grand Bazaar is the odds on fav and another likely to get his own way from the front , but no appeal at the odds.
4.45 This is not a deep heat and another fancied runner likely to set the pace in First Winter , but at the weights, just prefer the reliable King Ragnar .
¼ pt win King Ragnar @ 11/4
No advice from Listowel on heavy ground
Selected Kempton – all weather- polytrack
4.25 PREMIUM RACE
4.55 Rising Star is the likely winner , but at the odds, happy to skip from a wide draw .
5.30 The lightly raced May night sluiced In over C&D last time and the double could be on as he’s looking ahead of the game, but again a bit short in the market and a number of unexposed ones in this.
6.00 Mister Allegro showed what he’s made of last time out with an all the way win over C&D in a modest heat so with the penalty in a deeper heat and with others likely to want a piece of the lead , happy to look elsewhere . Full Marks has run his best races on this surface , well drawn , on a fair mark and longer trip should help .
¼ pt win Full Marks @ 11/2
6.30 There are a trio of newcomers in famous colours and running for top stables but Prismatic has good enough form in the book to break her duck .
½ pt win Prismatic @ 6/4
7.00 The once classy sprinter Lancelot Du Lac is likely to go a very strong pace returning from a break which should set this up nicely for the consistent C&d winner Typhoon Ten , a strong finisher with a willing attitude .
¼ pt win Typhoon Ten @ 9/2
7.30 The drop in trip is an issue for the lightly raced and well drawn Greycoat while another unexposed youngster in Boma Green has a bit to prove up in trip, switching from turf and from a bad draw. Lead Singer disappointed last time and is another with a poor draw while Starsheba is another with a bit to prove after a below par effort last time when last seen 6 weeks ago. The lightly raced Alnasharet changed hands from the Sir Michael Stoute stable to James Tate for quite a wedge, but is looking a fragile type with few racecourse appearances , but he has the best of the draw and was well supported last time . Worth a dabble
¼ pt win Alnasharet @ 9/1
