Today’s Fortune for a fiver
3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Selected 3.00 @ 3/1
Dreamseller 5.10 @ 9/2
Ben Lilly 5.40 @ 11/4
Selected Nottingham – good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.00A very open nursery but the bookies don’t agree making Fablis the even money fav and while his chance is clear , there are a number of others with similar chances , one of those being the consistent longshot Night Moment, on a decent mark and looks way overpriced.
¼ pt ew Night Moment @ 16/1
1.30 Understandable the debut winner Percy’s Lad is the fav , but you couldn’t rule any of these out.
2.05 All the recent handicap winners in Itkaann , Zezenia , Silver Samurai and Turn On The Charm are now on uncomfortable marks which gives the edge to maiden winner Modmin , who’s on a most workable mark today .
¼ pt win Modmin @ 2/1
2.40 An odds on fav in Aaddeey , a good 2nd on debut , but not for me at the odds .
3.15 This looks a match between impressive recent winner Herman Hesee and the consistent Nietzschie , whose win record on the flat is worrying , but 6/4 about Herman not great odds with the penalty .
3.50 Licit sprung a shock on the Haydock mud , so questions to answer with a hefty penalty on very different ground . Beat The Heat won well last time , but it was a modest heat . The in form Country N Western is more potent on the all weather , but turf form good enough to give a good account .
¼ pt ew Country N western @ 7/1
4.25 Danzeno is getting no younger but continues to churn out big efforts in hot handicaps and has obvious claims today. Bernardo O’ Reilly was a shock winner two starts back and again ran well last time . I’m chancing the useful Roulston Scar who was last seen in Meydan running big races in hot handicaps . He goes well fresh and the wind op is a positive for the top stable . The penalty could well catch Hamish Macbeth out in this deeper race .
¼ pt win Roulston Scar @ 15/2
5.00 As with all big field sprints, begin with finding where the early pace will come from and there is a stack of early pace, across the track , but the majority drawn high . The likely scenario is a late player will nick this and the prime candidate is the consistent but hard to win with Spanish Star .
¼ pt ew Spanish Star @ 11/1
Nottingham placepot –
Selected Chester – good ground on this flat and sharp track . Low numbers in the draw are much favoured and front runners have a great record .
1.15 The fav is Mere Green whose form is a little in and out and best runs on softer ground. Understandably Silvestris’ supporters are losing patience with 3 successive 2nds and the wide draw no help today . Echo Beach comes here on the back of a much improved effort on the Haydock mud . The form is good as the 4th horse brought very solid form into the event . Not a bad draw and clear claims .
¾ pt win Echo Beach @ 2/1
1.50 The odds on fav is John Gosden’s Cape Palace , who has good form but hasn’t been seen for a year ! and neither has Seasony who is 1 from 1 . Nice race to leave alone
2.25 PREMIUM RACE
3.00 The well drawn Baileys Breathless is the likely pacesetter but the penalty and the switch to turf are both concerns . The hat-trick seeking Kool Moe Dee has clear claims , but this speedy track could catch him our . Preference is for Selected a decent 2nd here last time and the step back up in trip well in his favour .
1/2 pt win Selected @ 3/1
3.35 The admirably consistent Baby Steps is a victim of his reliability as the handicapper wont give him a chance as he always runs his race He’s hit the frame in all 5 runs here and is likely to be front rank throughout . There is quite a lot of early pace in this which is not ideal , but wont be far away and a deserved win possible .
¼ pt ew Baby steps @ 7/1
4.10 PREMIUM RACE
Selected The Curragh – good to soft on this undulating, galloping and stiff track
1.25 An odds fav in Van gogh after some big runs In hot company but the consistent Colour Sergeant will be hard to keep out of the frame and is proven over C&D and the ground and well drawn .
½ pt ew Colour Sergeant @ 11/2
2,30 A good grade handicap sprint with stacks of early pace . The fav is the ex – English trained Breakfast Club who sluiced in on debut but it was in lower grade off a 10 pound lower mark and at Cork, very different track from today, so happy to look elsewhere . A Step Too Far is impossible to knock and this spritely front runner is only 3 pounds higher for yet another battling win, but with pace all across the track . I prefer playing a late player and the one with the best credentials is the strong finishing inflection Point, nicely drawn in the middle .
¼ pt ew Inflection Point @ 9/1
Selected Musselburgh – good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.40 Mayass has done little wrong in all 4 races and was a close 4th in a nursery last time off a mark of 87 . This should be an absolute formality , but is 1/3 .
2.15 PREMIUM RACE
2.50 PREMIUM RACE
3.25 A low grade sprint handicap and ALL of these have problems getting their noses in front . Rangefield Express has run well enough here a few times from the front to be of interest . The well treated Northern Society is a regular here , but no appeal at just 3/1.
¼ pt ew Rangefield Express @ 8/1
4.00 A very tricky small field handicap and a case can be made for all , but despite being bunged up a harsh 4 pounds for coming 2nd last time, the front running Nirodha is overpriced
¼ pt win Nirodha @ 15/2
5.10 Despite returning from an 11 month absence and only having run on the all weather , It Had to Be You has to be of interest first time for the able stable of Jedd O’Keefe . Dreamseller is a reliable soul , nicely drawn for a front runner and remains on a workable mark .
½ pt win Dreamseller @ 9/2
5.40 The bookies make this a match between a pair of progressive young stayers in Good View and Ben Lilly , but as the former has a hefty penalty for a win at the stiff Ponty over further in a bit of a soft race , clear preference is for Ben Lilly , 4 pounds higher for a good win at this trip at Redcar last time . There are a few others with squeaks .
½ pt win Ben Lilly @ 11/4
