He likes to dominate , which may not be that easy today with Balzac in the field, but this honest type looks likely to run his race and is a solid ew alternative to the hat-trick seeking , progressive but heavily penalised Vulcan.

4.20 Wrenthorpe is 3 from 4 over C&D , all on deep ground and despite now having to operate on a stiff mark , makes most appeal . He likes to be front rank and will have company from the back to form Just Glamorous and Case Key, but on this speed track should have the legs of them . The hat-trick seeking Shepherds way has a stiff penalty to overcome but has the ground in his favour and also this late player will have a great race make up with a strong pace most likely . He has also been winning as he liked , but marginally prefer the tip .

5.20 The well treated Lydiate Lady comes here on the back of a big run in the Catterick mud , when badly drawn and only just missing out . This C&d is sure to be front rank and looks most solid ew in a winnable finale and can be an overdue winner for the small stable .

1.40 Spanish City was only on a fair mark when bolting up in the Leicester mud last time out , but the 6 pound hit will surely test as will the wide draw . Youngster Sarah’s Hope is very consistent and this well drawn prominent racer has no issues with the ground and track but the slightly longer trip a worry, but still appeals at nice odds.

3.20 A good quality Class 1 stayers event for fillies and on official ratings , not much between the very tough and likeable Makawee, Irish raider Traisha and the in form Vivionn , but the softer ground is not ideal for the latter. Irish raiders are never easy to ignore .

3.55 Quel destin is a 150 rated hurdler , which is about 105 on the flat , so It was understandable that he was the odds on fav for this last year off a mark of just 66, , but could only manage 3rd, beaten 2 lengths and is 2 pound higher today . Just goes to show what a good hurdler he is. He again is a short priced fav and despite this looking a weaker event , still hard to be with the fav at short odds. The front running Tin Fandango is on a fair mark and he’ll give us a good run for our money at long odds.

4.30 my lady Claire was an easy winner of a modest event over C&d on similar ground then backed that up with a good win on the Kempton polytrack , both times winning really well. She looks capable of defying the 5 pound penalty and worth sticking worth .

2.25 None of these have ever jumped a fence in anger but on hurdles ratings, it’s a 3 horse war between Champagne well, who could find the trip too sharp and ended the season with a tired looking pulled up, the progressive Shan Blue and the useful and consistent One night In Milan , who is a half brother to Gold Cup winner Native River . He goes well fresh , is fine over this type of C&D, but has been easy to back today but very hard to ignore at the odds.

3.35 Plenty of unexposed and promising types in this Class 4 hurdle but like the look of Martinhal, a late faller when going well in an Irish point and looked good when landing a bumper very well running to a good level .

4.25 The fav is the hard to win with Winnetka and the drop in trip unlikely to change his fortunes . Veteran Englishman hit a purple patch in the Spring and showed his turn was not far away with a good 2nd over C&d recently . Nicely drawn and a very nice play .
