3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Flashing Glance 3.21 @ 7/2
Game Line 4.03 @ 4/1
Raaeq 4.15 @ 7/2
Selected Stratford – good ground on this flat and sharp track
2.53 Not a deep heat and a question mark regarding recent good winner Francky Du Berlais switching to fences 2nd race back after a long break . Everlanes finished last season on a high with 2 wins and a 2nd but needed her first run back last season and is 6 pounds higher for her last win . The veteran Dream Bolt is now hard to win with but is very consistent and has a good record at the track . wont be far away.
¼ pt ew Dream Bolt @ 11/1
3.20 Not a deep race and a decent chance for the downgraded Diamond Gait , who’s been far from disgraced of late .
¼ pt win Diamond Gait @ 3/1
4.03 The very well handicapped Game Line sprung back to life last time out on his first start for Peter Bowen when 3rd at Market Rasen . He has a good record at this track and looks a good bet to beat a modest field who all have difficulties getting their noses in front .
¾ pt win Game Line @ 4/1
No advice from Ireland today
Ascot – very soft ground on this stiff and galloping track
Champions Day at Ascot and it’s very well named today .
1.20 The long Distance Cup
Stradavarius is an amazing racehorse , and probably the best stayer in the world . He has tasted defeat 3 times this season but prior to land rattled off a sequence of 9 wins , before finding the useful Kew Gardens a might too much too handle in this race last season . His last run came in the Arc and you had to give him a chance despite the big drop in trip as the heavy ground would compensate, but did run an ordinary race and you worry if that run has taken the edge off him back to his best trip at a track where he has 5 wins and 2 places from 7 starts !. Search for a Song bounced back to her best landing the Irish St Leger for the 2nd time beating the admirable Fujaira Prince , but doubts about confirming the form over a longer trip and softer ground . A chance can be given to plenty of these and Monica Sheriiff would have been interesting on deep ground except for a rotten run last time. Fujaira Prince looks ready for the longer trip at a track he likes and likes the mud.
1/2 pt ew Fujaira Prince @ 11/1
1.55 PREMIUM RACE
2.30 The Champion fillies middle distance .
Quite a few of these are closely matched at the ratings but the in form prominent racer Wonderful Tonight has a terrific record on heavy ground with 3 wins and a place from 4 tries. Stiffer track today but as she stays further ,shouldn’t be an issue.
½ pt ew Wonderful Tonight @ 5/1
3.05 PREMIUM RACE
3.40 PREMIUM RACE
4.15 A tricky finale as it’s uncertain where the early pace will come from and it’s possile something could set soft fractions and get the run of the race from the front . The likeliest front runner is the fav , the mightily progressive Raaeq, 3 wins and 2 seconds in 5 starts. He’s been hit with a hefty 6 pound penalty , but goes up 5 pounds whatever happens today , and despite cramped odds for a field of this size is preferred .
½ pt win Raaeq @ 7/2
Selected Catterick – very soft ground on this undulating and sharp track
2.00 The thin Blue Line did little wrong on debut when a good 2nd over C&D in the mud and looks a solid fav to go one better .
½ pt win Thin Blue Line @ 6/5
3.10 This has a winnable look to it and give the edge to C&D winner Red Pike , with no ground issues , on affair mark and wide draw a good place to be here in the mud.
¼ pt ew Red Pike @ 10/1
3.45 A good quality sprint and last year’s winner Count D’orsay has to have claims of the double as he’s held his form pretty well this term off his new challenging mark , but did flop last time in the mud , a bad sign this time of year . Broken Spear is very consistent and was placed in this last year . A deserved win could drop his way .
½ pt ew Broken Spear @ 11/2
4.50 This has a winnable look to it and the well handicapped Shawaamekh has hinted of late that his turn is not far away. He’s a C&d winner and likes the mud . I’d have been a lot keener except for the first time blinkers , which have been no help to others in the stable .
¼ pt ew Shawaamekh @ 8/1
Selected Market Rasen – good ground on this flat and sharp track
3.21 Flashing Glance won really well on his first try at this trip and in a winnable heat can make light of the penalty .
½ pt win Flashing Glance @ 7/2
4.31 PREMIUM RACE
Market Rasen placepot
Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta
4.55 Laurentia is certainly on a roll and has won 3 of her last 4, the latest over C&d doing well coming off a steady pace. The 3 pound hit will test but in a winnable heat much respected . Berkshire Philly is effective over C&D , well drawn and in good enough form to go close .
¼ pt ew Berkshire Philly @ 13/2
5.30 Whatouldyouknow went close over C&D last time but this looks a good opportunity for the luckless Come On Linda, in good form and effective over C&D .
¼ pt win Come On Linda @ 5/1
6.30 A weak stayer’s event and it could well be a rematch between Mizen Master and the lightly raced Arietta , who fought out the finish recently over C&D, but the latter is marginally better off at the weights .
¼ pt win Arietta @ 4/1
7.00 A Go Go has landed two recent wins over C&D with bold front running displays but not well drawn tonight and others have ideas about leading. Smokey won well over C&d last time out but has a poor draw and a tough enough penalty , but this late player could be up to the task .
¼ pt win Smokey @ 7/2
