Selected Carlisle – good to soft on this undulating , galloping and stiff track
12.35 & 1.08
Olly Murphy has a terrific record here making the 450 mile round trip and his runners in the two opening events have both been well supported and worth the double
¼ pt win double Grandad’s Cottage @ 5/4 Jetaway Joey @ 2/1
1.40 A good quality chase and the majority are making their debuts over he larger obstacles, so some may advance and others go backwards. On hurdles ratings, Protektorat is the one to beat , but is dropping in trip markedly as is Notre Pari , but this one is bred to be a chaser .Malystic ran to a good level over hurdles but I’m trying Bean In Trouble , who ended last season on a high in good soft ground hurdles and bred for fences .
¼ pt ew Bean In trouble @ 8/1
2.15 The useful Ribble Valley is going to be hard to beat despite returning from a 10 months break and carrying a double penalty , but I can pass at 4/5.
2.50 Many of these are going to need their comeback spin and plenty others wont be grateful for the recent rain turning the ground easy . The fav is hat-trick seeking No Regrets , but he returns from a 2 months break, off an 11 pound higher mark and softer ground an issue. The consistent Flamboyant Joyaux remains on a workable mark and is suited to the ground and trip .
¼ pt ew Flamboyant Joyaux @ 6/1
3.25 Kim Bailey has a terrifc record here, 4 wins from 5 tries and runs Station Master , who has become very hard to win with and despite getting plenty of help from the handicapper , remains unconvincing . The opposite is true with hat-trick seeking Damiens Dilemma , who will endeavour to make all and could well do it in this winnable heat . The stiff track should suit , but this is a rare try on a right handed track .
½ pt win Damiens Dilemma @ 5/2
4.00 Balancing the various variables, many of these wont be at home over this testing circuit or soft ground which makes Victory Gate of interest after a good run last time and is fine over C&D in the mud.
¼ pt ew Victory Gate @ 6/1
No advice from Ireland today
Selected Lingfield – soft ground on this undulating and sharp track
2.22 The fav is the prolific pointer who has his first start for the top stable of Fergal O;Brien and should be Ok on the ground but when last seen over hurdles , was running at a 10 pound lower level than today . so much rather just watch him today. King cool has bounced back to form of late and ran a cracker in the Fontwell mud last time . He’s up in grade but this is not a deep heat and makes longshot appeal .
¼ pt ew King Cool @ 14/1
3.32 despite the big field, few have showed enough to be of interest . Threeunderthrufive did well in both soft ground bumpers last season for his top stable and runs in famous colours . He returns from a long break but there isn’t much to beat here.
¼ pt win Threeunderthrufive @ 5/2
4.07 The two of most interest are Bear Grylls and Red Rookie , both mightily impressive in soft ground bumpers last season m but preference for the former , bred to hurdle and stronger form while his main rival is missing the usual hood, suggesting he may not be fully wound up today .
¼ pt win Bear Grylls @ 7/4
4.45 PREMIUM RACE
No Lingfield placepot
Selected Ludlow – good ground on this flat and sharp track
2.35 Wynn House was mightily impressive winning on hurdles debut and looks hard to beat .
½ pt win Wynn House @ 4/5
3.45 PREMIUM RACE
4.20 A tricky event and the fav is the consistent but hard to win with rock On Tiger . This is a bigger ask for Chief Brody after a back to form win last time but both Cremant and Perfect City have serious claims . The nod goes to the in form Throckley who runs this C&D well on the ground .
¼ pt ew Throckley @ 5/1
5.25 A race for amateur jockeys , and as the in form Anti Cool is ridden by the best jockey in Alex Edwards , could land this winnable finale .
¼ pt win Anti Cool @ 5/1
Night racing Fortune for a fiver
20p ew yank & 30p ew acca
Ubari 4.59 @ 16/1
Toronado Queen 7.00 @ 8/1
Falcon Brook 6.45 @ 10/1
Wind in My sails 8.15 @ 15/2
Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta
4.05 PREMIUM RACE
4.40 He’s not one to trust implicitly , but Peachey Carnehan comes here in top form in a race very hard to fancy many .
¼ pt win Peachey Carnehan @ 10/3
5.10 The short priced fav in this uncompetitive heat is the hat-trick seeking Frow, a ready winner over C&D recently from a bad draw, and the way he won , understandable he’s short odds. The bang in form Vicenzo Coccotti saves his best for polytrack and is now on a tricky mark . Vitesse Du son has a good recent run over C&D on his CV and with Oisin Murphy aboard , appeals as a longshot .
¼ pt ew Vitesse Du Son @ 12/1
5.40 Her majesty’s Collinsbay has a lofty rating of 89 , but is making a right meal of shedding his maiden tag and is not looking one at all to trust at short odds. Main Target cost a whopping £200,000 and shaped well enough on debut at Newcastle and bred for longer trips . Nice ew play
¼ pt ew main Target @ 8/1
6.45 A competitive nursery but a short priced fav in No Recollection but returns from a few months off and has his first try on synthetics , so only has a fair chance in my book . Falcon Brook was a 40/1 shock winner here last time , but did it really well from the worst of the draw and the form is really good as the 4th horse landed a nursery yesterday . This track and surface obviously suit and today is far better drawn and the stable jockey rides. He’s on a very fair mark and stayed on so well last time , you would think the extra furlong would be in his favour, but this is not backed up by the pedigree, but prepared to risk it .
½ pt ew falcon Brook @ 10/1
7.45 Fair power holds his form pretty well despite still being a bit high in the weights and from a good draw and With Oisin Murphy riding, promises not to be far away . The lightly raced Jedeyd has showed enough to be a factor .
¼ pt ew Fair Power @ 9/2
8.15 Wind In my sails hadn’t fired at all this season but livened up good style last time dropping in grade round here last time . He was rated far higher last year so remains very well handicapped and this late player has a good race make up with a good gallop most likely . The concern is the slightly longer trip , but nice odds to show these the way home .
½ pt ew Wind In My Sails @ 15/2
Selected Chelmsford City – all weather – polytrack
4.59 A fiendishly difficult nursery with so many going up in trip and also plenty unproven on the surface. A couple of the form horses in Ghostly and Eyes would do well to get involved from bad draws so trying a longshot in Mark johnston’s Ubari . He didn’t come cheap and is related to some useful all weather types. He is bred for this trip and well drawn . Like the odds .
½ pt ew Ubari @ 16/1
6.00 Arabic Charm is another who’s making a meal of breaking their duck , and the wide draw is no help . The well drawn Messalina has run well in both runs , both at Wolver , but the top trainer has a great record with juveniles here .
½ pt ew Messalina @ 9/2
6.30 PREMIUM RACE
7.00 A very open big field handicap but a tough task for recent winner caught My breath , penalised for a win in lower grade . Earth and Sky is knocking on the door but has a bad draw out wide . The lightly raced Conscious won well at Lingfield suggesting he could take the penalty in his stride but another in form runner in Toronado Queen has only a 3 pound penalty and is in rude health presently .
½ pt ew Toronado Queen @ 8/1
7.30 This is very weak and despite the 5 pound hit, Cashel looks good for the C&D double .
½ pt win Cashel @ 5/2
8.00 Lily Beach looked home and hosed over C&D last time when scooting into a clear lead , but was chinned right on the line, The wide draw shouldn’t be an issue in this field and chance to make all again , but this time hanging on .
½ pt win Lily Beach @ 4/1
Chelmsford City placepot
