Mustaqbal responded well last time to the drop in the ratings with a close 3rd in the Ayr mud. 3.20 This is very much a match between the odds on fav Utile, impressive at Kempton on debut but well beaten at Bath recently , finishing a tired filly . Preference is for John Gosden’s Amtiyaz , who should handle the surface given the top stable’s great record here .

3.55 The short priced fav is the in form George Ridsdale , an east C&D winner off a much lower mark but only 3rd last time on turf and is 2 pounds higher today , but still not ruled out, but there are plenty in this proven over C&D, in decent form with a squeak . Clifftop Heaven gained a deserved win over C&D last time but the 3 pound hit makes things more difficult and could struggle to confirm form with the consistent but luckless Violette Sazbo . Sands Chorus and Stand Free have been going Ok over C&D of late and entitled to go well at long odds as isTHomas Cranmer , who has become hard to win with but went close over C&D recently before finding the upgrade too much last time. This could be his day at long odds. The back to form Armed has a bit to prove switching surfaces.

5.30 A difficult sprint handicap to solve with the only certainty is that C&D specialist Gowanbuster will try to make all. He’s done well on turf of late but is on just too high a mark . when secretinthepark gets it right at the start he can also go quite a gallop and this C&D winner is on a fair enough mark , so not out of it . Course specialist Another Angel is back to top form but goes up in grade which could find him out. With a stack of early pace this could drop just right for the late players , one of which is the well handicapped C&D winner Line of Reason, who should have done better the last few runs but does have a habit of striking when least expected .
