Selected Wincanton – good to soft on this flat and galloping track
12.10 The odds on fav is the Nicky Henderson mare Paris Duke who ran very well in her first race for the champion trainer, but that was her first run for over a year and statistically could well “ Bounce” today . in an uncompetitive heat , the clear danger is Sizeable Sam , who ran very in two bumpers last season , one coming her on similar ground and is very much preferred .
½ pt win Sizeable Sam @ 2/1
12.40 Another uncompetitive novice hurdle and likely that recent winner Beyond The Pale can carry the penalty , but not for me at evens .

1.40 This is most winnable and understandable that Buckthorn George is the fav after a good 2nd on his comeback spin off this mark at this trip at Fontwell. He is a C&d winner but the drying ground is an issue as is the fact his latest run came after a lengthy break , so may not be at the same level today , but hard to find a alternative .
¼ pt win Buckthorn George @ 11/4
2.12 They certainly wont be hanging around in this with Master Vintage sure to shoot off and try to go all the way, which he’s succeeded in doing a few times but not off a mark this high. His presence is not good news for the fav in Earth Leader, a prolific hunter but disappointed in his first start for Harry Fry and could struggle again at this trip. The strong pace will aid the late players and this could finally be the consistent if luckless Twasn’t The Plan’s big day . Frequently places but a maiden after 16 tries ,but remains on a good mark and this late player could be coaxed over the line by Alan Jones who knows him well .
1/ 2pt ew Twasn’t The Plan @ 12/1
2.42 Dollynamix broke his duck and how last time with a facile win at Huntingdon when ridden more prominently than usual . This wont take much winning but does have a hefty 7 pound penalty to overcome. The consistent How’s The Cricket has hinted that this longer trip would suit and worth a dabble .
¼ pt win How’s The Cricket @ 11/2

12.30 Looks very much a match and the question is whether the hat-trick seeking Stoner’s Choice can give the weight away to the lightly raced Captain Biggles , and on the balance of form, I belive he can .
½ pt win Stoner’s Choice @ 11/8
1.00A very open handicap hurdle but the handicapper now seems to have caught up with the prolific Millie of Mayo. The consistent Lily The pink will give it another good go but drying ground an issue , as it is for another consistent type in Sandymount Rose. Meep Meep did better last time but preference is for Eyes Right , a good 4th here last time off this mark and chanced over this longer trip.
½ pt ew Eyes Right @ 8/1
1.30 This is wide open and the fav is the consistent First Lord Du Cruet but whether he’ll be suited to both the drying ground and the longer trip is another thing. Recent winners Coolanly and Regarding Ruth both have claims but I’m with a longshot in the reliable Teescomponent Lad , rarely far away, on a fair mark and ground /trip fine .

3.03 Ivors Investment returned from a 2 and a half year absence to win at Sedgefield at 100/1 , with some ease and stays on the same mark so if in the same kind of form would double up in this modest event but long time absentees very rarely follow up a good return with a similar run net time , in fact , often go backwards !

Selected Newcastle – all weather- tapeta. The track is stiff and galloping
1.50 A short priced fav is the in form youngster Dublin Pharaoh who runs for a top Southern stable which is only 2 from 36 in handicaps here and he was only 2nd off this mark last time and unproven on the surface. Sweet Dime has run well in both recent tries over C&D , only beaten a length off a slightly higher last time here and useful 3 pound claimer Ray Dawson rides today . she can be forgiven a flop in the Newmarket mud last time and could nail this at pretty long odds.
½ pt ew Sweet Dime @ 8/1
2.50 The Trader has run well in all 3 tries this season but returns from a 4 months break and rarely runs on synthetics . Stargazer has terrific record here and was a shock winner on the turf at Haydock coming into the race in poor form and has since flopped again , but it was on unsuitable soft ground . He’s capable off this lofty mark and gets the nod .
¼ pt win Stargazer @ 11/4
3.20 The fav is Caen Na Coille , a ready winner over C&D last time but hit with a hefty 6 pound penalty . She is one of many late players in this which could give the edge to the consistent yet luckless Mostawaa, a tough and willing front runner who is effective here and could well get the run of the race . He finds this trip far enough but in a race likely to be run at steady fractions, could dominate, sedately , then kick for glory .
½ pt win Mostawaa @ 4/1
4.20 On form looks very much a match between Colonel Faulkner , a good 2nd in the York mud and running to a good level , and the 3rd horse has won sell since , against Legion of Honour , 2nd on his Haydock debut , running to a good level, but it was 5 months ago and not obviously bred for synthetics. The tip is bred for the surface and gets the verdict.
¾ pt win Colonel Faulkner @ 10/3
4.50 A wide open good quality handicap sprint and I’m with last year’s winner Watchable, who I tipped up to my members at 22/1 ! . He’s on a 3 pound higher mark but managed to get the better of the smart sprinter Good Effort that day and has been holding his form well of late. Despite now being a 10yo , he is running as well as ever and another good effort likely .

4.00 Vanitas did well at Lingfield on debut bringing the best form to the table and proven on the surface but I can pass at short odds from the worst of the draw. Impeach was an expensive purchase and shaped well on debut while Maraakiz and Shielded are well bred newcomers from top stables .

4.30 This has a most winnable look to it and offers a great opportunity for the once very useful Flaming Spear to get back on the scoresheet. In the past he’s won twice off marks in excess of 100, very strong performances , but is not the same horse he was. He had been struggling of late so the handicapper had to lend a helping hand and comes here on the back of an excellent 3rd here in a competitive handicap, coming from way back , finishing strongly and the longer trip is no issue. Nicely drawn and enough early pace to give him an ideal pace to chase and could be notching a first win in 2 years.
½ pt win Flaming Spear @ 7/2
5.00 The front running Dazzling Rock is 2 from 2 over C&D and despite the nudge up the weights, will be hard to beat tonight . Both Bye Bye Lady and tampere are unexposed and could be troublesome .
½ pt win Dazzling Rock @ 10/11
5.30 a good quality Class 2 sprint handicap and the fav is the most admirable Aberama Gold , who’s been in terrific form on turf with a brave win at Donny followed by an excellent 2nd behind top sprinter Dakota Gold in a Class 1 event , running to a level of in excess of his 98 mark both times, but they were on soft ground . He ran poorly on his only try on synthetics but he did have a tough task in a Class 1 event on the Newcastle tapeta but is related to a decent all weather sprinter in El Hombre , but his sire rarely has all weather runners. He’s going to give it a right old go from a decent draw and will be front rank early, but quite a few others have leadability claims and I’m trying the ex-French Lipsink , who ran to a good level on this surface at Deuville and has joined the Sprinter Specialist in Robert Cowell. He’s been easy to back tpday, but this front runner could well surprise .
¼ pt ew Lipsink @ 14/1
6.00 Pull Harder Con puts this lot to shame when it comes to winning races as he’s landed 4 races this year but was only 3rd in his last try over C&D , beaten 3 lengths , coming off a 5 pound lower mark but it did come in higher grade. Considering his attitude and racing from a good draw, hard to rule out but I make the consistent Captain Ryan a cracking ew play . He’s run very well the last twice , is well drawn and if it wasn’t for the poor form of jockey Kieran O’Neill , I’d be saving this for the Members .Still a good play .
½ pt ew Captain Ryan @ 11/1
