Selected Newcastle – soft ground on this stiff and galloping track
11.45 PREMIUM RACE
12.15 Capard King won this very well last year from Speak of the Devil, but hasn’t been anywhere near the same form this year , but they could have just been getting him ready for his ideal kind of race . Speak of the Devil is now on a tough mark and would do well to win while softer ground and a stiffer track not in the favour of the back to form Scoop The Pot. Ard chaos was a surprise winner in the Carlisle mud last time, making all and keeping on most determinedly . The 3 pound hit could have been worse and this longer trip should be no issue for this dual point winner . If he gets his own way up front, will take a bit of catching . Seemingly So ended last season with a good 2nd at Donny but a bit to prove first race back and on a stiffer track .
½ pt win Ard Chaos @ 5/1
12.45 The ex-French Engarde ran a cracker on his first race for Dr Richard Newland with a close 2nd in the Ascot mud over a slightly longer trip . NO issues with ground or track but that was his first run for a year and his win record is not great , and this looks tricky with 3 strong rivals against him .
1.20 Best to concentrate on the top two in this small field Class 3 handicap and clear preference is for the very useful Malystic . his last 5 runs have resulted In 2 wins and 3 seconds and has excelled in both of his chases , beating a decent one at Wetherby and also chasing home the very useful Protektoret . The C&d is no issue and neither is the ground and expect a prominent ride . The danger is the consistent Whoshotthesheriff , who’ll give it a good go but is on a tough mark and hard to see him giving weight to the tip successfully.
¾ pt win Malystic @ 11/8
1.50 This is a very weak event and the clear form horse is the consistent yet luckless Red Ochre , who has run really well in his last two races and no issues with ground and probably C&D . The only concern is that he is a 19 race maiden , but there looks nothing wrong with his attitude and this should very much be his day .
¾ pt win Red Ochre @7/2
2.25 Another uncompetitive event and again a solid form horse in Laskadine who finally responded to the drop in the weights with a good 2nd in the Hexham mud , so today’s conditions no issue and also drops into Class 5 for the first time .
½ pt win Laskadine @ 9/4
Selected Taunton – good to soft on this flat and sharp track
12.07 Chef De Troupe was odds on to beat Perucolor last time but I was against him on deep ground and over a stiff C&D but on this speed track on much better ground, should well have revenge .
½ pt win Chef De Troupe @ 11/10
12.37 Looks between the two penalised runners in Grey Spirit, who brings stronger form to the table than Atholl Street but does have a double penalty and his rival is still unexposed .
1.10 The short priced fav is useful bumper Boothill but in an uncompetitive race , the consistent Across The line looks an ew bet for nothing .
½ pt ew Across The Line @ 5/1
1.42 Not a deep race at all and likely to be fought out again by Chapati and Manor Park, as it was at Southwell, but on the revised terms, the latter gets the nod .
½ pt win Manor Park @ 4/1
2.15 PREMIUM RACE
2.47 PREMIUM RACE
3.17 the short priced fav is recent impressive winner Glajou , but the 7 pound hit makes life more difficult so preference is for the well treated Golden Taipan a good 2nd over fences last time and this C&d should suit very well .
1/2pt ew Golden Taipan @ 13/2
3.47 Cushbuish is a bit of a lad at the stat but once he gets going , races well . He landed a big field handicap over C&D last year in a very light season . His recent 3rd just behind Motts Cross was a good effort and can improve past that rival as he could falter second race back after a long break .
½ pt ew Cushbuish @ 11/2
Selected Warwick – soft ground on this flat and sharp track
1.27 This is a red hot Class 1 chase for young mares and plenty of progressive types take their chance. Very hard to be sure who’ll land this but the fav Zambella would do very well to win with a penalty and going up in trip .
2.32 Despite the big field few have serious chances . The admirable Kendelu made it 3 wins from his last 4 with a determined win on the Uttoxeter mud, ground which looked too soft, but he’s in such terrific form , didn’t let that stop him . He only just got the better of Butler’s Brief and there wont be much between them today but slight preference for the lightly raced Anightinlambourn after a good 2nd, which looks stronger form .
¼ pt ew Anightinlambourn @ 11/2
3.02 This has a winnable look to it with both recent winners in Volcano and Commit Or quit not looking ahead of the handicapper . Manofthemoment chased home a progressive one last time seeing the trip out really well .Today’s softer ground will suit well and will a return to this tricky track.
1/2pt win Manofthemoment @ 5/1
3.32 Ordinarily I’d be happy to let this big field bumper go, as it looks a deep contest with so many top stables having runners, but Kim Bailey has a terrific record In Bumpers here and has won 5 times from 7 tries with newcomers . He saddles Voyburg , who didn’t come cheap and worth a dabble at nice odds.
¼ pt ew Voyburg @ 12/1
Selected Chelmsford City – all weather – polytrack
4.00 Short priced fav in Sabusi , likely to improve on a very decent debut at Kempton but well happy to let him go at only evens
4.30 Another short priced fav in recent Wolver winner Kaheall, and on a fair mark on the strength of that win but of course switches to polytrack, but the top stable does very well with juveniles here . There was little between London Palldium , Toussarok and Evening Song in a recent Kempton nursery and all 3 are considered ahead of the other pair, who are both C&D winners but in lower grade and marks .
5.00 A very weak event and only a couple can be considered . Kylla Looks won easily at Wolver first time at this trip and despite the penalty and switching surfaces could be the one to beat as she has run OK on polytrack . Both alezan and Irish times could struggle for toe down in trip .
5.30 The reliable Rockesbury continues to hold his form well despite now being on a tough enough mark. Despite the wide draw he’s likely to be front rank throughout and runs this C&d well and can get the better of elzaam’s Dream , who has stamina doubts .
½ pt win Rockesbury @ 3/1
6.00 The key horse is the most unlikely winner in Salateen, who was once a top notch handicapper , winning off marks in excess of 100, and it’s been sad watching him struggling for some time. . He’s switched stables again and if anyone can coax him back to form it’s him, but he can only be watched for now . He is very likely to set a strong pace which will make this a true run race , unlike the one when C&D specialist War Glory ran in last time over C&D which developed into a sprint and he did well to grab 2nd He’s on a workable mark and looks a really nice ew play in an open event .
½ pt ew War Glory @ 7/1
6.30 International raiders always have to be of interest as Gamgoom was , back in February and I was on the little beauty who won with something to spare @ 22/1 !! He hasn’t hit those dizzy heights since and his latest win came only in a seller but here he is, during these troubled times, making the journey from Germany, and races off a 7 pound lower mark than his last win here . Expect a prominent ride and has to be a player in a winnable heat .
¼ pt wi Gamgoom @ 5/1
7,00 PREMIUM RACE
7.30 & 8.00
Well happy letting these last two races go as they are full of professional losers , often doing their best NOT to win .
