Today’s Fortune for a fiver
6 50p doubles , 4 25p trebles & 50p ew acca
Kildimo 1.23 @ 10/1
Gabrial The devil 1.10 @ 6/1
Tawny port 3.55 @ 2/1
Broctune Red 4.50 @ 9/4
Selected Fakenham – heavy ground on this sharp track
12.53 The only one with recent winning form is Invincible Cave, but those wins came over hurdles and longer trips and was pulled up over fences last time , looking far from a natural . Away for Slates and Magic River are consistent but wins are elusive but the latter’s form is stronger , handles soft ground and can exploit this drop in grade.
¼ pt win Magic River @ 5/1
1,23 The fav is the consistent Sheldon who brings the best form to the table and wont mind the ground but this tight track could be a problem . Tonyx ran well on his hurdles debut when 2nd in the Catterick mud, so this track should suit but kildimo was just behind and on deeper ground this strong stayer could be the answer at longish odds.
½ pt ew Kildimo @ 10/1
1.55 PREMIUM RACE
3.00 Barden Bella sluiced in at Catterick but has a nasty 8 pound penalty . You would expect this longer trip to suit this former pointer but preference is for Leave My alone , a staying on 2nd here last time in the mud and the longer trip should suit this ex pointer .
¼ pt win Leave My alone @ 5/1
3.35 Not a deep race as recent runaway Warwick winner After The Fox has a massive 15 pounds penalty and would of course do very well to double up. Hard to pick between Frisco Bay and Midnight Glance but the nod goes to the latter proven on the ground and on tight tracks .
¼ pt win Midnight Glance @ 7/2
4.05 The ultra consistent First Assembly comes here on the back of another big run with a 3rd of 18 at Donny, beaten just two lengths off around this mark . Softer ground no issue and can finally break his duck in a winnable finale .
½ pt win First Assembly @ 5/2
Selected Southwell – all weather – fibresand
1.10 Gabrial The devil is 1 from 1 here making all for a clear win and off just a 3 pound higher mark can land this winnable opener . He will have to be lively from the stalls as he is drawn 1, fine if you’re leading , not so if others are kicking the dirt in your face. Both Aljari and alexaj are useful types but a bit to prove down in trip and the latter is having his first try here , but the John Gosden stable has plenty of success here. The back to form Zylan could struggle with the rise in weights and grade .
½ pt win Gabrial The devil @ 11/2
2.15 Daafr is 2 from 2 here landing a quick double and returns just 2 days on from his latest win. Both wins have ben impressive but others here like to front run and he carries a stiff penalty and the extra furlong could catch him out. Both Thrave and Native Silver are effective over C&D and likely to run their races despite testing marks . Bond Angel is a it high in the weights but this 5 time c&D winner is better drawn than last time and will endeavour to make all and has longshot appeal .
¼ pt ew Bond Angel @ 14/1
2.45 Very tricky stuff as a case can be made for all four but Mirage Mac was awesome when winning here and worth a dabble .
¼ pt win Mirage Mac @ 7/2
3.20 Looks very much a match between C&d specialist Bay Of naples and the in form Rafiot, new to the surface but the good stable does well here .
3.55 A good quality sprint and easy to read with the flying Ornate sure to bomb off, and has a terrific record here but it’s 18 months since his last win despite running some big races in defeat such as last time when shooting off in a quality Class 2 sprint at Newcastle only to be nailed by the bang in form Venturous . Tawny Port was a length behind and he is 2 from 2 here , and despite being 2 pounds worse off with his rival should have the edge as both giogiobbo and thegreatestshowman will also be front rank and Ornate can’t afford any slips at the start with the worst of the draw.
½ pt win Tawny Port @ 2/1
4.25 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Meydan – all weather dirt , turf good ground . The track is excellent , flat, sweeping and galloping .
3.05 The Mark Johnston trained Leonardo brings the best form to the race running well in all 3 tries last season . His sire and dam were both dirt winners and from a nice draw and a positive jockey booking it could be an overdue victory for the stable here .
1/2 pt win Leopardo @ 7/2
3.40 Godolphin is always massively represented at this venue and they have 8 of the 15 starters. High Bid did well in both runs last year and looks fairly handicapped and is the choice of Dettori .
¼ pt win High Bid @ 9/2
4.15 Godolphin mob handed again with 5 of the 9 but the pair with the best chance at the weights are the terrifically consistent and determined althiqa and the hard to catch right Summer Romance and the former certainly gets my vote for a deserved win after some sterling efforts in defeat .
½ pt win Althiqa @ 7/2
4.50 Just the one Godophin runner in this, but that’s all they’ll need. Soft Whisper was a smart winner here on dirt ,despite missing the kick and the longer trip very much in her favour and another UAE 1000 Guineas looks destined for Sheikh Mohammad .
¾ pt win Soft Whisper @ 5/6
5.25 just the 4 Godolphin horses in this big field handicap where most are hard to fancy . Key Victory won this very well and could double up off just a 2 pound higher mark .
¼ pt win Key Victory @ 6/1
Selected Newcastle – all weather – tapeta. The track is stiff and galloping.
3.40 PREMIUM RACE
4.12 After a good win over C&D off just a 2 pound lower mark , Greengage disappointed next time but wasn’t ridden to advantage given a prominent ride . Back to a more patient ride can land a winnable event .
¼ pt win Greengage @ 3/1
4.50 Van Dijk is impossible to knock but looks to be taking on more than he can chew now on a 6 pound higher mark. Contenders thin on the ground in this and the likely pace setter is the in form C&D regular Broctune Red who is likely to get his own way up front and land a most winnable heat , but even if something else went on wouldn’t be an issue as he has tactical versatility .
½ pt win Broctune Red @ 9/4
6.00 PREMIUM RACE
6.30 Very tricky stuff with all 4 having claims at the trip and off their marks , but none have ever raced here .
7.00 Despite having clear claims with two recent close 2nds over C&D off around this mark , Crantock Lad is still a maiden and wouldn’t be surprised if he had to wait a bit longer before ringing the Victory Bell and plenty of these are capable over this C&D .
7.30 A low grade sprint for closing and plenty of money for C&D winner Sharrabang who is one of handful favoured at the weights but the nod goes to the lightly raced Quiteacatch who’s been showing up well in better company and this C&D suits.
¼ pt win Quiteacatch @ 6/1
