Selected Exeter – good to soft on this undulating , galloping and stiff track
12.30 The fav in this big field but uncompetitive novice hurdle is Nicky Henderson’s Valsheda who was 2nd on debut but beaten 25 lengths and the bare form needs plenty of improvement . Party Fizz has been going well and has stronger form but does have stamina to prove . The nod goes to the lightly raced Falloway Dubreau , who has only his 2nd run for the good stable of Fergal O’Brien , who does well here and can be expected to improve upon a reasonable 4th In a bumper at Fakenham now going hurdling over a more fitting track and trip .
½ pt win Falloway Dubreau @ 5/1
1.35 Both Bumpy Johnson and Killer Kane were very disappointing last time and can only be watched today despite this looking a modest heat .Not Sure has shaped up well in a couple of bumpers and could surprise .
¼ pt ew Not Sure @ 8/1
3.40 Like the previous three handicaps, this is full of horses who find winning very tough and the clear form horse in Powerstown Park also brings a few doubts to the table as he last raced over hurdles 18 months ago , 2nd in a Newton Abbot good ground handicap, very different conditions and track to today and his next try was last month when a good 3rd in a Jumper Bumper , so with few racecourse appearances is clearly a fragile sort and is going to bounce sooner than later . This is very weak but a chance can be given to the novice in Guns For hire who has run some fair races in higher grade and the stable does very well here .
½ pt win Guns For hire @ 10/1
Selected Newcastle- good to soft on this stiff and galloping track
1.45 Looks very much a match between impressive Warwick winner Benny’s Oscar on his first try for the top stable of Dan Skelton up against Ripper Roo, placed in all three starts this season but looks a pushover in the finish and this stiff C&d could well catch him out .
¾ pt win Benny’s Oscar @ 5/6
2.15 PREMIUM RACE
2.50 Despite the big field hard to fancy many and the recent Musselburgh winner Broadway Joe has to be respected despite the penalty and quicker ground today . Gallagher’s Cross may well have missed out on an extra cube of sugar after returning to the stable as he was the one that cost a well laid gamble narrowly come unstuck as the other two were both backed from long odds to win well and despite him being backed from 25/1 into odds could only manage an Ok 4th, so could do better on less demanding ground today . Storm Force One did well last time when a close 4th at Sedgefield and the 3rd horse landed a good event recently . He returns from a break but this stiffer track should suit and the small stable does well here .
½ pt ew Storm Force One @ 16/1
3.20 PREMIUM RACE
3.50 It’s hardto fancy many in this big field handicap but the front running Methodofmadness is on a good mark down in class and can go well fresh and could surprise .
½ pt ew Methodofmadness @ 16/1
Selected Southwell – all weather – fibresand
4.40 There will be no hanging around whatsoever in this sprint handicap as 7 of the 8 runners are known for front running which of course makes it easy for the one who can come off the pace and despite the prolific and still in form Passional being nudged up 3 pounds for a narrow defeat over C&D last time . not hard seeing this falling apart in the final furlong and he can sweep through from a good draw for another win .
½ pt win Passional @ 9/4
5.40 On official ratings , Now Children has at least a stone I hand over his opponents but his mark of 80 really needs looking at as he hasn’t raced anywhere near that mark for years. He has experience on this track and considering it was over a trip way short of his best ,wasn’t an awful run , but with his rotten win record, easy to look elsewhere . Harlow was beaten at short odds in a similar event at Longfield when trying to lead all the way over shorter , but fell into an almighty big hole late on . He has a better chance than most at the ratings and the stable is flying , including here , so not entirely ruled out . Loch Ness Monster is a regular here but slow starts is his ruination and last two efforts poor . Thawry is not favoured by the weights but has run some steady races over C&D of late and worth a dabble in a shocker of a contest .
¼ pt win Thawry @ 8/1
6.10 Straight Ash has found his niche over this C&D but the handicapper is now in control but another decent effort likely . Fortltous was disappointing over C&D when last seen a few months ago and is another on a tough enough mark . Temur Khan is the fav and has dropped to a very good mark and last two runs haven’t been bad , but it’s 2 years since his last win . Dreadnoughts hasn’t had many chances and runs for the top track trainer in Mike Appleby . He did well to be 3rd here a few starts back and a similar effort could see him land a winnable heat .
½ pt ew Dreadnoughts @ 7/1
6.40 Plenty of these have good form over C&d but Star of St james and Fieldsman are likely to struggle off their marks in this grade, Daafr rattled off a hat-trick here in his first 3 runs then was denied by just a short head off this mark in his 4th try . He’s not been in the same form at Newcastle of late but this prominent racer makes most appeal in a tough race at the odds. The likeable Jewel Maker successfully transferred his good Newcastle form to here very well last time out, but has a nasty 4 pound penalty while C&d winner Snow ocean can never be left out of calculations .
¼ pt win Daafr @ 13/2
7.10 A strong pace is on the cards with Kraka and Al Batal both known for front running and both effective over C&D and De Bruyne Horse and Iva reflection both likely to join in . Last Date ran a cracker over C&D last time and despite the 3pound hit, he looks good o come strongly off the pace to go one better . Bond angel will appreciate the drop in grade and goes well here but the drop in trip no help .
½ pt win Last Date @ 5/2
7.40 The clear form horse is the 4 timer seeking OHwhatanight , successful ovr C&d last time, but had to work hard to beat C&d regular Jazz legend ,who stays on the same mark and has a handy 3 pound pull for the narrow defeat . He had the run of the race last time and may find it had dominating from the widest of draws but still appeals as a nice long shot .Everkyllachy nailed an overdue win off this mark last time but is new to the surface while Dirchill is perfectly capable off this mark and runs the C&d well but has been missing the break of late which will be curtains from the 1 stall .
¼ pt ew Jazz Legend @ 12/1
