12.30 Sezina is the odds on fav and goes for the C&d hat-trick but has a hefty 10 pound fine and a very inexperienced jockey rides. Going Native has been going OK of late but has won this race for the last 2 years !
¼ pt ew Going Native @ 12/1
1.35 The ultra reliable Qaarat is guaranteed to run his race over one of his favourite C&Ds and despite a testing mark , he’s well drawn to take a handy pitch and can tough out another win .
½ pt win Qaarat @ 9/4
2.45 Daafr has absolutely taken off since racing on fibresand with 4 wins and a narrow defeat in his 5 tries but up another 4 pounds and worst still drops to 6 furlongs and it really is hard to see him having the pace to live with specialist sprinters. Zylan is a regular over C&D and was a good 2nd two starts back with Lord Oberon just behind and there’ll be little between them again , but the tip has to be the play at the odds. Both are drawn high enough but not many count in this.
½ pt ew Zylan @ 10/1
3.20 Questions asked of the admirably consistent Sir Rodneyredblood at the ratings and up in trip and the journey wont help another track regular in Ustath . Palazzo is nor high enough in the weights while the consistent everkyllachy goes up in grade . A good pace should be on and another chance for the well handicapped C&d specialist Custard The dragon to get his nose in front , but he is making a meal of nailing a race .
¼ pt win Custard The Dragon @ 3/1
Cheltenham – soft ground on this undulating , galloping and stiff track
1.20 The Supreme Novice Hurdle
The short priced fav is the prolific and very useful Appreciaite It and he’s going to take a lot of beating . He’s won all three of his hurdles races and brings the best form to the table and last time at Leopardstown he made all and had Ballyadam and Blue Lord filling the places but neither were ever going to beat him . He was 2nd of 23 in last year’s Champion Bumper so is proven on the track and the ground is ideal . He wont be leading this all the way as the headstrong For pleasure will as usual go off like the clappers and could be a long way clear early on , but the fav is likely to be leading the pack. For pleasure rattled off a hat-trick last Summer burning them off from the front on good ground and around tight tracks and recorded some useful figures but it was fair to assume this was his niche and was allowed to start at long odds over C&D on soft ground , but ran them into the ground and ran well for a long way in the Betfair Hurdle , so will give connections a great thrill for probably ¾ of the race but not likely to feature late on . The unbeaten Metier is of course the dark horse while the easy Betfair winner soaring Glory won well but only off a mark of 133 and this looks much tougher . Looks good for the fav .
¾ pt win Appreciate It @ 5/6
1.55 The Arkle Chase
The odds on fav is last year’s Supreme Novice hurdle winner , the prolific and classy Shishkin who is 3 from 3 over fences and looks highly likely to go 4 from 4 .Allmankind is a terrific racehorse and will try and make all and goes a terrific gallop but wont have any peace from Captain Guiness while the fav will be happy biding his time and should be another good race for the high rollers .
1pt win Shishkin @ 1/2
2.30 PREMIUM RACE
3.05 The Champion Hurdle
The fav is the wondermare Honeysuckle an incredible 10 from 10 and successful here last year over a longer trip but warmed up for this with a smart win at this distance. She will be well suited by the likely strong pace with Aspire Tower , who could hang on for a place and None Too Sleepy sure to go out hard , but the fav is machine like and will cover all the moves and looks another likely fav . Last year’s winner Epatante was turned over at short odds by the admirable Silver streak , who again will run his race and could hit the frame at long odds . Epatante does have a bit to prove but was awesome in this last year . Goshen was in the process of trotting in when approaching the last in The triumph Hurdle , but lost his jockey to be a most unlucky loser . He then ran a number of below par races on the flat and over hurdles but was awesome last time at Wincanton so bang in the mix but it’s the fav for me .
½ pt win Honeysuckle @ 11/8
3.40 Concertista was an easy winner last year over a shorter trip and this season is 2 from 2 , both at this trip and looks another fav to hit the “poor “ bookies . The big danger is the useful Roksana, but at this trip, the tip will take some beating .
¾ pt win Concertista @ 5/4
4.50 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Sedgefield – good to soft on this undulating and sharp track
1.45 Graces Order brings the best form into the race and has a bumper win here on her CV . The less demanding ground will suit and looks the best option .
½ pt win Graces Order @ 4/1
2.20 The short priced fav is Sabbathical and this is well winnable but the stiff penalty, switching to a tight track and drying ground all big negatives but hard to see who can take advantage .
2.55 This is wide open but I’m with a longshot in Alright Marlene who has run well a few times this season off around this mark and has a hood run over C&D on this kind of ground in the book . Likely to outrun her long odds. There are many dangers .
¼ pt ew Alright Marlene @ 25/1
3.30 Oxwich Bay likes it here and comes here on the back of a course win over a slightly longer trip but in this weak event the drop in trip unlikely to be an issue and with no penalty , looks good to double up.
½ pt win Oxwich Bay @ 11/8
4.35 The drying ground and the big penalty wont help Game line but expect another good run from the consistent Sandford Castle, but his only run here was pretty modest . Well Smitten finally responded to the drop in the ratings with a big run last time at Newcastle on drying ground and a nice play at the odds .
½ pt win Well Smitten @ 6/1
Selected Newcastle – all weather – tapeta. The track is stiff and galloping
5.15 A short priced fav in Her Majesty’s Sergeant Major , a ready winner at Chelmsford City last time but up in the ratings , trip and this is a very different track and surface and the stable’s record here only Ok and he’s up against a trio of Mark Jonhston horses , the pick of which is clearly Silver Shade .
5,45 A big field for this competitive handicap and a strong pace assured which is good news for track regular Great Colaci as this hold up type runs his race whatever is chucked at him and was most unlucky off this mark last time. Another big run very likely .
½ pt ew Great Colaci @ 5/1
6.45 Streak Lightning is 3 from 6 and was a good winner over C&d last time and in this winnable heat can make light of the 4 pound penalty . He stalked the pace last time before taking charge for a cosy win . Similar scenario tonight with Greek Zodiac the likely front runner but lack of pace will tell late on . Duesnburg ran well here last time but over a mile and could well find things happening too quickly down in trip .
½ pt win Streak Lightning @ 5/2
7.15 portugueseprincess has the best chance at the weights but has lost the plot completely in terms of winning races and this should concern the in form pair of track regular seas Of elzaam , but the drop In trip wont help , and the front running Healing Power who is new to the track but the respected stable does well here and should be away and gone.
½ pt win Healing Power @ 6/4
7.45 There’s a stack of early pace here with 5 of the 11 known for front running and this strong pace is very good news for the capable late player Athollblair Boy , who needs to be produced just right and Faye McNamaman has managed it before .
¼ pt ew Athollblair Boy @ 6/1
8.15 I was kicking myself not being on Marta Boy who won last time out over C&d at 12/1 , as he had been backed a few times since joining David Evans’ stable , and is only two pounds higher . He came strongly off the pace and the double looks on.
½ pt win Marta Boy @ 4/1
