Today's Fortune for a fiver
3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Eskendash 2.05 @ 3/1
Global Harmony 2.40 @ 4/1
Wise Words 5.40 @ 3/1
Selected Ayr- good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.00Very much a match between the 4 timer seeking Stepney Causeway , who’ll be endeavouring to make all and the useful Mrs Hyde , who comes out best in at the weights, but her last few runs weren’t the best . She is the 2nd fav which looks about right , but at the odds I’m happy to watch .
1.30 PREMIUM RACE
2.05 Eskendash isn’t the easiest to win with but did much better on his first start for Olly Murphy . coming from way back to be a good 2nd at Kempton .This track is not ideal for hold up types but with Lucky Flight and Fourth of July on tough enough marks and drying ground not ideal for either, the tip should get away with it .
½ pt win Eskendash @ 3/1
2.40 The lightly raced Didonato goes for the hat-trick but drying ground an issue and preference is for recent cosy winner Global Harmony off just a 3 pound higher mark and proven on the ground and trip . The remainder would all prefer much juice in the ground .
½ pt win Global Harmony @ 4/1
3.15 PREMIUM RACE
3.50 The fav is the lightly raced Defining Battle whose recent 2nd was given a huge boost when the winner was only just touched off in a big field Aintree handicap next time , which puts him on a good mark today but on drying ground preference for the lightly raced Fete Champetre , a ready winner at Wetherby last time out on good ground running to a level making his handicap mark very realistic . C&d should suit well .
¼ pt win Fete Champetre @ 9/2
4.27 A wide open finale but the drying ground wont help many of the in form types such as Off The beat and The Ogle Gogle Man . The prolific Sultans Pride did very well to win at Donny last time and could still be ahead of the game despite the 6 pound hit .
¼ pt ew Sultans Pride @ 10/1
Selected Newbury – good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.10 Unraced 2yos but market support for Tyson , who didn’t come cheap and stable good at getting them ready first time .
¼ pt win Tyson @ 2/1
1.40 PREMIUM RACE
2.15 The short priced fav is the consistent Almighwar , but all of his recent form is on the all weather , is on a tough enough mark and goes up markedly in trip . Most of his rivals are also known for being better on the all weather and you could make a case for quite a few but hard to boil it down .
2.50 The fav is Mithras , a ready winner on the Newcastle tapeta when last seen 5 months ago but prior to that a run over C&D on good ground was way below his best , so could be vulnerable today . Again a race where you could make a case for plenty but Clrandon Cross ran well in all 3 tries last season including Listed Company and looks on a fair enough mark . Nice longshot .
¼ pt ew Clarendon Cross @ 25/1
3.25 Tricky stuff trying to work out which of these lightly raced and promising types is most ahead of the game .
No Newbury placepot
Selected Fontwell – good to firm on this sharp track
1.20 You would expect Sending Love to sluice in but she has taken a few backward steps of late .
1.50 As both Full Back and Premier D’troice are far happier on much softer ground , the front running and in form Coolanly is at his best on a sound surface and should get the extended trip around this easy track .
¾ pt win Coolanly @ 10/11
3.00 The ground may be a shade quick for Ocean Cove but he comfortably brings the best recent form into the race and shouldn’t be troubled .
½ pt win Ocean Cove @ 11/10
3.35 Very few can be considered and I’m with the very well handicapped Lawtop Legend ,whose recent form is not that encouraging but the stable switch to Richard Newland is significant as he has a great record with new intakes .
¼ pt win Lawtop Legend @ 5/2
Selected Bath – good to firm on this sharp but stiff track
4.40 A wide open sprint handicap and the fav in Cometh The man, 2nd in a big field Redcar sprint when coming from way back is only one of many with a chance . All of Isabella Swan , Accrington Stanley , Outcast , Ooh Is It and Mid Day Rush have clear claims but the nod goes to recent Catterick winner in NOdsasgoodasawink , who pulled off the impossible by giving them all a start and a beating at a track where hold up horses tend to struggle .She’s up In the weights and grade but unexposed as a fast ground sprinter and this stiffer track will also help .
¼ pt ew Nodsasgoodasawink @ 13/2
5.40 A Class 1 sprint for fillies and the pair to beat at the ratings are Irish raider Dickiedoda , who hasn’t an appealing profile , as she’s inconsistent and hasn’t run close to her mark for some time . The other with a stand out chance at the weights is Wise Words , who worryingly had a light season last year , running a blinder in a Listed race ., beaten just over a length but then flopping In Group 3 company . She may have bounced that day and the draw could have been kinder , but this is winnable and gets the vote .
½ pt win Wise Words @ 3/1
7.10 the prolific Mac The knife , 4 wins and a 2nd In his last five! Switches to turf and again is nudged up the weights . Lady Elysia goes well here , two track wins and shaped up nicely on her recent comeback spin and could surprise .
¼ pt win Lady Elysia @ 4/1
7.40 A very winnable finale and despite being a nasty 5 pounds higher for her recent C&D win on quick ground , Quarry Beach was always going best on her first race for David Evans and worth risking that she is back to her old form when competitive off higher marks than this .
1/2 pt win Quarry Beach @ 5/1
I’m giving the Exeter card the swerve with a number of solid long odds on shots and the other races failing to offer any decent plays
