Today’s Multi 3 £1 doubles & £2 treble
Tanglewood Tales 3.00 @ 3/1
Harrier Hawk 4.10 @ 3/1
Snowy Burrows 3.10 @ 13/8
Selected Sedgefield – good ground on this sharp and undulating track
Malpas and Cook The Books bring the best form to the table but both are soft ground horses which opens the door for the luckless Cooper’s Cross, rarely far away and good runs at Catterick suggest this C&D wont be an issue .
½ pt win Coopers Cross @ 9/4
1.30 The 4 timer seeking Costly Diamond has found himself in a bit of a soft race and could well be up to defying the 5 pound hit and raise in grade and is dual C&d winner .
½ pt win Costly Diamond @ 5/4
2.05 The better ground is the issue with most of these with a chance so understandable that recent Hereford good ground winner Ambassador is a warm order but his mark is no gimme and this is a very different type of track . Naizagi has been given a chance by the handicapper and this consistent sort will like the ground and shouldn’t be far away .
¼ pt ew Naizagi @ 8/1
3.10 The lightly raced Snowy Burrows won as she liked over C&D last time on good ground in her first handicap and the 2nd horse has sluiced in since and the 5 pound hit unlikely to stop her .
¾ pt win Snowy Burrows @ 13/8
Selected Yarmouth – good to firm on this flat and galloping track
1.20 PREMIUM RACE
2.30 El Conquistador comes here on a hat-trick, but both wins came on polytrack and returns from a break up in grade and the ratings . Preference is for the lightly raced The First King , a winner first time out last season and is only 3 pounds higher for a smart Sandown win on fast turf .
¼ pt win The First King @ 4/1
3.00 Most of these have it to prove switching from the all weather which makes Tanglewood Tales an attractive looking bet as he has run exclusively on turf , running to a level in line with his mark and this longer trip certainly in his favour .
½ pt win Tanglewood Tales @ 3/1
3.35 The bang in form Skyjack has done well since returning from a break and has the edge over the other market leaders as he is proven on quick turf . He’s been off for 2 months which is a bit of a concern with horses who have been on the sidelines but nice odds to land this weak heat .
½ pt win skyjack @ 7/2
4.10 Another weak event and the nod goes to the in form Harrier Hawk, who ran Ok on fast turf last year and preferred to lochanthem who has only ever raced on synthetics .
½ pt win Harrier Hawk @ 3/1
5.15 Cream of The crop landed a Catterick maiden on just her 2nd start and was subsequently outclassed in group 2 company , but for the good stable even to consider her for that race suggests she could be better than a 75 opening mark . first time wind op and tongue tie both positives for the stable . Nice longshot .
¼ pt ew Cream of The crop @ 16/1
Selected Epsom – good ground on this undulating , sharp and tricky track
1.45 With Recon Mission and Dark Shot mostly raced on the all weather nowadays , Green Power continuing to go through the motions, Militia preferring soft ground and Spoof’s time of the year is much later on , the in form veteran Duke Of Firenze is worth a play .This late player has a great race make up with plenty of early pace on and he’s run this C&D well in the past .
½ pt win Duke of Firenzi @ 6/1
2.15 Far too much guesswork with so many unexposed and promising types .
2.50 The admirably consistent Victory Chime is certainly on a tough mark but this C&D winner wont be far away and nice odds for his chance.
¼ pt ew Victory Charm @ 10/1
3.20 Noble Patron stepped up considerably in his only 2yo run with a close 3rd at Nottingham on quick ground , and the strength of that form gives him a clear edge .
½ pt win Noble Patron @ 5/2
3.55 Sozo Sizzler could be a bouncer 2nd run back after a break , Galahad Threepwood has a bit to prove switching from the all weather . The 4 pound hit is likely to catch out the back to form Amazing Red so it looks a match with preference for Group One Power proven off around this mark over the unexposed Valryian Steel .
½ pt win Group One Power @ 11/4
Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta
4.15 Quite an open start to the card but the in form Irish Times would do well to figure switching to tapeta and from a bad draw while the consistent Anniemation is up in the weights and a bit to prove on this surface. Seaforth is prolific round here and only a pound higher for a good recent win under this jockey which is a clear positive in this race for apprentices . He’s a late player so the 1 stall is hardly ideal but taken to get the better of Al Ozzdi and Street Poet. Born To Sire has responded well to the drop in the ratings and goes well here but is hard to win with and this trip on the sharp side .
¼ pt win Seaforth @ 5/1
5.50 A most winnable ow grade handicap and despite a poor draw, Katelli has gone close over C&D a few times of late and the stable switch can be looked upon as a positive .
¼ pt win Katelli @ 7/2
6.20 The lightly raced Athabasca did well at Newcastle last time splitting a pair of useful yardsticks and looks ready for this longer trip but she’s up against a couple of tough C&D winners in Muftakker and feldspar , both on workable marks but the nod goes to the in form former .
¼ pt win Muftakker @ 3/1
7.20 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Southwell – all weather – fibresand
5.30 PREMIUM RACE
6.00 PREMIUM RACE
6.30 The bang in form Travel Lightly is effective here and only just failed off around this mark at Redcar but the drop in trip is an issue . Little India went close over C&D a few starts back off around this mark and appeals at the odds .
¼ pt ew Little India @ 9/1
7.00 A red hot sprint and the question is whether hat-trick seeking Stars in the Night can overcome a 6 pound penalty , but connections have booked an able 7 pound claimer . He’s a C&D winner and well drawn but this full of dangers as Agent Shiftwell has good C&d form as does the in form Canford Bay , who just gets the nod on the overall strength of his form. Both Scale Force and Qaarrat are regulars over C&D but both now a bit high in the weights for this red hot heat.
¼ pt win Canford Bay @ 9/2
