Selected Catterick – soft ground on this undulating and sharp track
1.40 A good pace is assured with the two fibresand specialists in A Pint of Bear and Qaarat sure to go out hard but both have a bit to prove on soft turf . This looks a straight fight between the in form pair of Duke Of Firenze and Fashion Advice, both C&d winners , both fine on the ground and both happy to sit off a strong pace and at the odds, the nod goes to the former . Ehrmann has been going well on fibresand but is another with it to prove on the ground and track.
¼ pt win Duke Of Firenze @ 7/2
2.15 The lightly raced Whitwell did well last time but goes up in trip and tries softer ground and the same concern applies to the back to form Betty Grable . This has a very winnable look to it and the well drawn and well handicapped veteran Trinity Star did well last time off this much reduced mark and soft ground no issue
¼ pt ew Trinity Star @ 11/1
2.50 The clear form horse is Flammation after a big run when a close 3rd In a big field at thirsk , but softer ground an unknown and happy to leave this alone.
3.25 PREMIUM RACE
4.30 The hat-trick seeking Let Me Be has a very hefty 9 pound penalty to overcome and I prefer a play on the well handicapped dual track winner Tonto’s Spirit , down in grade and now on a good mark . His recent form over hurdles has been a bit in and out , but appeals at the odds .
¼ pt ew Tonto’s Spirit @ 9/1
5.00 With both the in form pair of Thrave and Zumurid with a bit to prove up In trip on soft ground , this looks there for the taking and the reliable Donnelly’s Rainbow shaped well on his comeback spin and looks a nice ew play .
¼ pt ew Donnelly’s Rainbow @ 11/1
Selected Lingfield – all weather – polytrack
1.15 Mykonos St john defied long odds and a big weight when winning well at Wolver last time , but the 5 pound hit wont help and only run on polytrack was not good. A good pace is assured with reliable track regular sure to want a piece of the early action as does another regular here in Prince Rock while Zulu Girl went close at Brighton and only run on polytrack was OK and she too may well join up in front . The strong early pace will suit the late players making C&D winner Mr Mac of interest despite a wide draw and a slightly high mark .
¼ pt ew Mr Mac @ 11/1
1.50 It’s hard to get excited about many of these and despite a 4 pound hit and a wide draw, Vitesse Du son looks good for the C&D double. He had a similar wide draw last time and coped very well and there’s not much early pace in this so could get his preferred sit near the front and should be good enough to hold on .
½ pt win Vitesse Du Son @ 9/4
2.25 Golden Rainbow was a beaten short priced fav on debut but the victor stormed in at Chester , so wasn’t a bad run after all and this one is very much bred to do well on this surface .
½ pt win Golden Rainbow @ evens
3.00 Lethal Blast was an all the way winner over C&D last time out but the 7 pound hit looks most excessive and others here will be serving it up early . Hey Ho Let’s go is a reliable C&D regular and wont be far away and neither will Agueroo but the nod goes to Shining , denied by a nose over C&D a few starts back off this mark and can defy the wide draw.
¼ pt win Shining @ 9/2
3.35 You can set your clock by the ever so consistent Headley George , who was an unlucky 2nd over C&D last time and can gain compensation despite the 2 pound hit . Like Sugar is the main danger after a good effort on turf last time and handles this surface well.
¼ pt win Headley George @ 7/4
4.10 Mostaqqer is well respected despite a 4 pound hit but Im Digby could struggle down in trip . Both Jonoesque and Recuredeme have been going well over C&D off their reduced marks and this could drop just right for the late playing tip .
¼ pt ew Recuredeme @ 13/2
Selected Windsor – good to soft on this flat and galloping track
4.25 The lightly raced Amir Kabir is with a top stable and won twice last year , once on soft ground and his recent comeback spin was a cracker finishing a close 3rd of 16 at Newbury at this trip off around this mark and this late player will have a strong pace to chase with the admirable Bad Company chasing a 5 timer returning from a break off a stiff mark and no good record running well fresh. Both Hawridge storm and Leroy Leroy are in fine form but the ground has gone against them .
½ pt win Amir Kabir @ 11/4
6.00 Kindred Spirit won on debut on soft ground and was desperately unlucky on his comeback spin on polytrack when repeatedly unable to find a clear run . As most of these are either better on the all weather or good ground , looks a most solid fav .
½ pt win Kindred Spirit @ 6/4
6.30 A really good quality Class 1 event and very open . Stormy Atlantic is the highest rated , by a comfortable 5 pounds, but he’s getting no younger and hasn’t hit that mark for some time .Oh This Is Us has returned to form with a vengeance and has gone close in this race before, but soft ground no help . The fav is brentford Hope, who when last seen toyed with the opposition in the Haydock mud in handicap company so a bit to prove in this grade and on drying ground. It’s hard to split the consistent Solid stone and recent Haydock winner Qaysar but as it’s best being with the pace here, the former gets the nod .
¼ pt win Solid Stone @ 5/2
8.00 Plenty of these in with a chance but a bit to prove away from the all weather . Sammy Sunshine handles the ground and has more hopes than staying this trip than most and is a consistent sort .
¼ pt win Sammy Sunshine @ 7/1
Selected Southwell – good to soft on this flat and sharp track
5.20 The hat-trick seeking Maasai Warrior was an easy winner on the Hexham mud but the 10 pound hit and the switch to a speed track big negatives . Finding it tough deciding between Rostello, Do It For Thy Sen and Old Harry Rocks .
5.50 Chances of sorts can be given to all but both The captains Inn and Commodore Barry need to step up considerably on recent efforts. The drying ground is not in favour of the hard to win with Balycross but the other three have good claims and the nod goes to the unexposed Licklighter who looks like this longer trip will suit .
¼ pt win Licklighter @ 11/2
6.50 It looks a match between the two good bumper winners in Glenacssey , who’s had a few lengthy breaks which never instils confidence up against Imperial Hope, who’s bred to jump and is preferred .
½ pt win Imperial Hope @ 2/1
7.50 This is very winnable and a good opportunity for the well handicapped and in form Heria to get back in the Winners’ Circle . Lady Chuffwell did well last time and is the main danger .
¼ pt win Hereia @ 9/4
8.20 Hurricane Ali gave them all a start and beating when successful over C&D a few starts back , winning with ease and went close next time at Uttoxeter off a 7 pound higher mark . He’s up a further 4 pounds which makes life harder of course , but is still preferred over El Jefe , up 4 pounds for a narrow defeat at Perth , but as course wins stack up very well here , preference for the tip .
¼ pt win Hurricane Ali @ 4/1
