Aberama Gold 2.10 @ 9/1
Selected Worcester – good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.00Smith’s Bay is still not convincing and his two runs since returning from a lengthy break can be categorised as just Ok , while the consistent Presentandcounting , doesn’t win many and is often a weak finisher and can only be watched trying fences for the first time . Dog of war os 2 from 2 over fences , winning both pretty much as he pleased and last time won on good ground at Bangor, which looked to be a tight enough track for him , but he was never in trouble and this more galloping track very much in his favour . Black Buble put some poor efforts behind him running 3rd in that Bangor race and is weighted to get revenge , but if he can back that up with another good run is debateable , and his last win was over 2 years ago ! The front running Beyond The Pale is interesting in his first chase for his good stable , but with a good pace likely , the patiently ridden tip should nail the hat-trick .
½ pt win Dog Of War @ 7/2
1.30 It wasn’t the strongest race ever with Cushuish landed on good ground over C&D last time, but she was always going to win and is only 2 pounds higher and is still learning the chase. This does look highly winnable with Sandy Boy still hard to win with and the likes of Mr Mafia and Cesar Et Rosalie struggling for form . Expect a prominent ride for this hat-trick seeker .
½ pt win Cushuish @ 15/8
3.00 The vast majority of these are struggling for form , the exception being the reliable Bashful Boy , who’s a little bit high In the weights, but should get away with it in this field.
½ pt win Bashful Boy @ 9/2
3.30 Can this finally be Johnny B’s day , as this 120 rated staying hurdler comes here on the back of 4 good placed efforts but wins have been elusive . No issues with ground or trip and this is a great opportunity , despite a few dark horses in the field .
½ pt win Johnny B @ 6/4
4.35 The short priced fav is An Tailliur after an easy win at this trip at Market rasen and the 7 pound penalty could be underrating this youngster but even money a shocking bet in a big field. The ex-Irish Baily Gorse ran well on his first start for the good stable of Tom Lacey and looks a nice ew play .
¼ pt ew Bally Gorse @ 7/1
Newton Abbot abandoned – waterlogged
Selected York – good to soft on this flat and galloping track
1.40 A wide open handicap for starters and the fav is the admirable and most progressive Ilaraab , who after just an OK debut has won al subsequent 5 starts , his latest coming here in the mud , over a shorter trip and a 7 pound lower mark , so of course needs to step up even more to nail another win, but that’s entirely possible . My frankel is another unexposed type , who’s won 3 of his last 4 in some style and the only flop was well beaten due to lameness . He’s proven at the trip but is another with a 7 pound penalty . Throne Hall is another lightly raced and already useful type who after a useful comeback win was narrowly beaten at Thirsk off around this mark on ground quick enough . He went down narrowly to Ilaraab last season in the Beverley mud and enjoys a 3 pound pull , which makes him an attractive play at the odds. The Likes of Mr carpenter , , Rhythmic Intent and Taqareer certainly add to the interest .
1/2pt ew Throne Hall @ 10/1
2.10 A big field handicap sprint and the first task is to identify where the early pace will come and there’s plenty in this with Roulston scar , Aberama Gold , staxton and hyperfocus all drawn low , which is often the place to be on this kind of ground , Magical Spirit and Bielsa up the middle and Manigordo on his own drawn high , and most of these can be front rank throughout and keep it going to the line . Aberama Gold is a most reliable type who will appreciate the ground and his mark remains workable and looks a nice ew play .
½ pt ew Aberama Gold @ 9/1
2.40 PREMIUM RACE
3.10 The Musidora Stakes, practically the Oaks trial and the joint favs in Noon gun and Teosa both step up from maiden company , but both held in high regard by their top trainers, so I’m happy to watch and there are a couple of dark horses in this.
3.40 PREMIUM RACE
4.50 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Dundalk – all weather – polytrack
5.00 The hat-trick seeking Betrayed has her work cut out returning from a break , on a higher mark, down in trip and racing from the worst of the draw. C&D winner Zen Silence can be forgiven a tame effort on soft ground last time and is well drawn and on a workable mark .
¼ pt ew Zen Silence @ 7/1
5.30 At the weights track regular War Hero is certainly the one to beat but at this trip, the reliable Eglish gets the nod .
¼ pt win Eglish @ 11/4
7.00 This is more about quantity than quality and recent C&d winner Getaway Queen can follow up with just a one pound penalty .
¼ pt win Getaway Queen @ 7/2
Selected Perth – good ground on this flat and pretty sharp track
5.10 Joint short priced favs in Fantastic Rock and Wowsham who are pretty hard to split , even though the latter is proven over C&d and the ground . Not much value really .
5.40 This looks very much a match between last time all the way Donny winner Slanelough , who got the run of the race last time and could struggle for pace against Away At dawn , going well over hurdles on this kind of track and this former pointer should be even better over fences .
½ pt win Away At dawn @ 3/1
6.10 The fav is the hard to win with Bossiney Boy who has fair form over C&D but not hard to look elsewhere. Cancan did well over C&d last time going with the pace but preference is for another front runner in Sarvi, back down to a good mark and has the ground to suit .
½ pt ew Sarvi @ 9/1
6.40 Astute Boy seriously his odds of 150/1 at Hexham last time against much higher rated rivals, but he could have been well flattered by that much improved effort . Not The Chablis won well at Musselburgh at this trip two starts back but struggled next time down in trip at Kelso, too sharp a test for him . Not much higher today and this looks winnable .
¼ pt win Not The Chablis @ 11/2
7.10 Both Rock The edge and Shaw’s Bridge are relatively new to handicapping and both come here on the back of smart wins last time , but both go up in trip, but neither were stopping and the penalties could have been harsher . The latter’s win came here on similar ground which gives him the nod .
½ pt win Shaw’s Bridge @ 5/1
8.10 World Trip sluiced in over C&d last time on similar ground but the 11 pound hit could take its toll . Farocco has run some fair races of late , including here and remains on a fair mark and shapes as this longer trip will suit .
¼ pt ew Farocco @ 9/1
Selected Bath – good ground on this sharp but stiff track .
5.20 PREMIUM RACE
The other handicaps on the card don’t have a stand out contender with the runners being much of a muchness while I’m happy allowing the two maidens to go also .
