3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Brotherly Company 4.00 @ 2/1
Rubytwo 4.30 @ 2/1
Sir Roderic 4.55 @ 12/1
Selected Perth – soft ground on this flat and quite sharp track
1.00The form horse is the luckless Boltissme , 4 seconds and a 3rd in just 5 tries , but spread over 3 seasons , so may well be hard to keep sound . Soft ground is no issue , but has been easy to back today . Bright Eyed Eagle was rated a very decent 82 on the flat and his recent hurdles debut wasn’t bad so has claims as does soft ground bumper winner Lock down Luke . I’m watching .
1.30 City Derby is the clear form horse but soft ground an unknown as it is with the 2nd fav in Willy Nilly while bumper winner Bella bluesky’s form on the ground is inconsistent .
2.00 Looks very much a match between the very much back to form useful chaser Ballymoy , who has to concede a stone to the useful staying hurdler Ask Dillion and I think he can do it as his rival lacks experience over fences and all best runs have come at Stiff tracks ,
½ pt win Ballymoy @ 6/4
2.30 PREMIUMM RACE
3.00 The short priced fav In this modest handicap is Whoshotwho , but this is his 2nd race back after a break , always an acid test , and the longer trip is another concern . Uptown Harry has been consistent of late down to a reduced mark and despite finding this trip far enough , should be OK against this opposition . The 4 timer seeking Roxford Road doesn’t have the ground in his favour and is now on a very stiff mark .
¼ pt win Uptown Harry @ 3/1
4.00Another uncompetitive heat and it looks good for the prolific front running Brotherly Company , who is still on a workable mark , wont mind the ground or trip and this kind of track suits. No issue with returning from a break either .
½ pt win Brotherly Company @ 2/1
4.30 Another uncompetitive heat for the finale and another solid fav in the consistent Rubytwo , fine on the ground and trip , mark fine and drops in grade .
½ pt win Rubytwo @ 2/1
Selected Salisbury – soft ground on this undulating , stiff and galloping track
3.55 Rewired is prove on the ground , this kind of track and trip and on a fair enough mark and worth a dabble, but this race is full of dark horses going handicapping for the first time up in trip .
¼ pt win Rewind @ 4/1
4.25 Youlllovemewheniwin is the fav after a right demolition job at Bath and the 6 pound hit could have been far worse , but soft ground a big worry as is the wide draw . Danzart did well to be 2nd last time out in a soft ground Windsor handicap off this mark , hinting that a stiffer test would suit , and this looks well winnable .
½ pt win danzart @ 9/2
4.55 A hands and heels race for apprentices and hard to get excited about the prospects of many , as they are all rare winners and soft ground a no no for the majority .Sir Roderic has dropped to a good mark, didn’t do badly last time and is well drawn if the capable apprentice opts to try and make all. Soft ground no issue and a very lively longshot .
½ pt ew Sir Roderic @ 14/1
Selected York – probably good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.40 PREMIUM RACE
2.10 The one to beat at the ratings is the consistent but frustrating Queen power, whose last win came 2 years ago and is looking pushover in the finish and all 4 rivals are capable of turning her over , but which one is hard to determine .
2.40 PREMIUM RACE
3.10 The group 2 dante Stakes , often seen as a derby trial and the fav is Aidan O’Brien’s High definition , who is 2 from 2 and both wins most exciting to watch as he gets outpaced early but picks up amazingly late on and this longer trip looks tailor made . He’s up against some already proven colts and a few others well capable of improvement . I’m happy to watch this one .
3.40 Acklam Express has excelled himself running big races at Meydan making him the one to beat at the ratings , and has to be highly respected but the progressive Winter Power, took a bit of time to come to himself last season and drying ground not in his favour. Atalis Bay stepped up on previous with a good win at Nottingham and makes ew appeal .
¼ pt ew Atalis Bay @ 8/1
4.50 PREMIUM RACE
Selected fontwell – good ground on this sharp track
4.45 A weak novice hurdle and the clear form horse is Nicky Henderson’s Baron Nelson , 2nd to a useful sort last time but in an uncompetitive heat , so something has to be 2nd . He drops in trip and you’d expect him to be good enough to beat these , but not for me at shortish odds.
5.20 Pratically a match between two useful hurdlers trying fences for the first time and this could be closer than what the bookies think as Chapmansype is a 4 time track winner, which counts for plenty . ¼ pt win Chapmanshype @ 2/1
5.55 Nye Bevan has no penalty for his latest win when olympic Honour was a fairly close 2nd , but on the same weight terms this C&D winner should confirm the placings .
½ pt win Nye Bevan @ 11/10
6.30 Shantou Flyer is certainly the one to beat at the ratings but wins have been very elusive of late and not one I’d be taking 3s on about .
7.05 Northern Bound is not renowned for consistency but chased home a good one last time and that is race winning form in this contest . Wasdell Dundalk shaped up better last time and is more of a threat than Blumen Glory , who could find things happening a bit quick on the ground and this sharp track .
¼ pt win Northern Bound @ 7/2
7.40 this is highly competitive with a stack of in form runners but Postman was a good 2nd over C&d 2 starts back on fast ground and despite flopping next time , not the first horse to struggle at Stratford and at long odds , worth a dabble .
¼ pt ew Postman @ 22/1
Selected Newmarket – good ground on this undulating , galloping and stiff track
7.50 A competitive handicap and I like the look of Basilica who ran very well in the ascot mud when 2nd in a competitive heat and handles quicker ground . Taravara is the clear danger .
¼ pt win Basilica @ 4/1
8.20 This is wide open with so many in form types likely to be suited by the C&d and ground and mostly on decent marks . alabama Boy made a mockery of his opening mark at Haydock and the stable is well adept at producing lightly raced types to knock up a sequence , so despite the 10 pound hit, has to be respected . In a most open finale I’m with the capable Urban War at nice odds .
¼ pt ew Urban War @ 12/1
