3 £1 doubles & £2 treble
Tomfre 2.05 @ 3/1
Untold Story 2.35 @ 10/3
Glen Shiel 2.45 @ 7/4
Selected Goodwood – soft ground on this undulating , sharp and tricky track
1.40 Prince Alex was mightily progressive and prolific last season , landing a 5 timer in handicaps taking his winning mark from a lowly 63 to a very decent 81 and this is his trip and ground . He lost nothing in his comeback spin at Salisbury on quick ground , only beaten 2 lengths off this mark , on ground plenty quick enough . He’s a hold up type and Jason Watson rides for the first time and is new to this kind of track , but still remains the likely winner as a decent pace is likely and that will suit his racing style .Indigo Times is impossible to knock with 5 wins and a 2nd in his last 6 starts, but all on the all weather , but not to be underestimated .
½ pt win Prince alex @ 6/4
2.10 Only four go and the fav in Al Zaraqaan looks vulnerable as he struggled with the rise in grade last time and soft ground another issue . The outsider Winter Reprise is likely to set the pace but will be there under sufferance when the race warms up. Both Desert Encounter and Stormy Atlantic have to be commended holding their form so well as they 9 and 8 year olds and have marks of 111 & 110. Desert Encounter has a good record here in the mud while Stormy Atlantic comes here in fine form . Fc time.
¼ pt rev fc Desert Encounter – Stormy Atlantic
2.50 The short priced fav is Aldaary , who is 3 from 3 and hasn’t been overly pressed to land those contests but would do very well overcoming the 12 pound hit in a competitive field. Bravado comes here on the back of a good 2nd at Chester , when front rank throughout and keeping going very well . He wont have the lead to himself today , but does see out the trip well and soft ground no issue . All of Twaasol , Soundslikethunde and Tawleed have clear chances .
¼ pt ew Bravado @ 8/1
3.25 A Class 1 and at the ratings the one clearly to beat is the 115 rated Hukum , but he rarely hits that mark and last few runs disappointing . Morando only ran Ok at hos beloved Chester last time , so despite having a bit to find at the ratings, the in form On To Victory , loves the mud and could surprise in a winnable heat.
½ pt win On To Victory @ 8/1
4.00 Plenty of in form types here but Beauty Stone has a massive 8 pound penalty and softer ground an issue while both Miss Mulligan and Hasseefah have stamina to prove and while Asiaf only has a fair chance , worth trying the front running My Girl Maggie, who has a terrific race make up against hold up types and despite being an all weather specialist and returning from a 3 months break , could pinch this from the front.
½ pt win My Girl Maggie @ 6/1
Selected Haydock – heavy ground on this flat and galloping track
1.20 The consistent Side Shot has to prove stamina and that wont be easy on the very deep ground , especially with a penalty . Mystical Dawn is very well handicapped , handles soft ground and shapes very much as this longer trip will suit .
½ pt win Mystical Dawn @ 11/4
1.55 The deep ground holds no fears for Molls Memory , who comes here in decent shape and remains on a workable mark . She’s a hold up type and with a good pace likely , she’ll be picking these up late on .
1/4 pt win Molls Memory @ 7/2
2.25 PREMIUM RACE
3.00 This is red hot and hard to rule anything out entirely . The fav is recent Ripon winner Heights of Abraham , but the big penalty and drop in trip wont help . Clear chances can be given to all of Raadabarg , Nebulosa and Headingly but I’m with a lively longshot in Master Zoffany who came off the pace to win well at Chester and soft ground no issue.
¼ pt ew Master Zoffany @ 12/1
3.35 A red hot Group 2 sprint and just couldn’t cut down the shortlist .
4.10 The one to beat at the ratings is classy sprinter Liberty Beach, whi handles the ground, but only won once last season and in her last run, both Lady In France and Keep Busy were close behind her . Despite having a bitto find at the ratings , the front running Jabberockie is in top form , likes the ground and C&D and could take some catching .
¼ pt win Jabberockie @ 6/1
Selected Newmarket – soft ground on this undulating , galloping and stiff track
2.00 This is wide open but with Arecibo and Benefit Street on stiff marks and with Lethal Lunch and Additional dropping in trip , chance for the well treated Blue De Vega after an improved showing last time and ground no issue .
½ pt win Blue De Vega @ 7/1
2.25 Law of One looked good last time but the 9 pound hit will test and is new to soft ground , Clear preference is for the hat-trick seeking Untold Story , on a fair mark for his handicap debut and related to some smart mudlarks .
½ pt win Untold Story @10/3
3.40 Global Storm comes here in top form and runs this track very well and no issues with the ground , but the longer trip could catch him out . The lightly raced LOstwithel has a bit to prove on the ground so preference for the lightly raced and progressive Zeeband , proven on ground and trip and on a workable mark .
½ pt win Zeeband @ 9/4
4.15 Most of these have it to prove at the trip and ground so it could be a deserved win for BaileY’s Derbyday after two good 2nds of late. Valparaiso has a bit to prove on the ground .
¼ pt win Bailey’s derbyday @ 2/1
Selected The Curragh – heavy ground on this undulating , stiff and galloping track
2.45 England is well represented and all of Summerghand, Royal Commando and Glen Shiel are the ones to beat at the ratings but clear preference is for the latter, who is a terrific racehorse who always runs with utmost willing and determination , loves the ground and is a C&D winner .
½ pt win Glen Shiel @ 7/4
3.20 The Irish 2000 Guineas and the heavy ground is most in the favour of Van Gogh, who brings good form to the table anyway . The English winner Poetic Flare was far less effective in the French equivalent on deep ground .
¼ pt win Van Gogh
Selected York – soft ground on this flat and galloping track
2.05 Zip is running really well and likely to put the pace to the race and will keep it going on ground he likes . He finished alongside Escobar last time in a massive field at Ascot and not for the first time , the latter was unlucky and despite being a useful type ,has become hard to win with . Preference is for the prolific Tomfre , who landed his last three races last season , soft ground suiting very well and wins at Donny suggest this track wont be an issue and is only 4 pounds higher. He comes here on the back of a big run in a Haydock Class 1 in the mud , running 2nd and in excess of his mark .
½ pt win Tomfre @ 3/1
2.40 A good quality Group 3 for fillies and a good pace likely with Makawee in the field, who’ll run her usual genuine race but this should boil down to a match between the most progressive and prolific Believe in Love and Irish raider Mighty Blue , a cracking dual purpose mare , but the nod just goes to the former .
½ pt win Belive In Love @ 9/4
3.15 Despite the big field, hard to find many with a chance and with both the prolific pair of Wise Eagle and Live Your Dream with ground doubts , the back to form Dubai Instict can improve on his recent 3rd over C&D in a big field and deeper ground should be fine .
¼ pt ew Dubai Instinct @ 6/1
3.50 A good quality Class 2 sprint and plenty in with a chance . The majority of the early pace is with the low drawn runners and far side is expected the place to be . I was very much with the consistent Count D’orsay over C&d last time as he came into the race ticking many boxes , but ran a flat one, but to forgive is divine and worth a second chance.
¼ pt ew Count D’Orsay @ 13/2
4.20 Stiff task for Robjon with a penalty and switching to soft ground ,. Shaladar did well in debut coming 3rd and is related to a soft ground winner and longer trip is fine .
½ pt ew Shaladar @ 11/2
4.55 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Lingfield – first two races on polytrack, rest on soft turf where the track is undulating and sharp.
5.20 PREMIUM RACE
5.55 The prolific Fame and Fortune has 4 track wins but returns from a 5 months break on a very stiff mark . The oh so consistent Starfighter will give it a go but this longer trip an issue . Stopnsearch is now on a tough mark so the pick is recent C&d winner Reeceltic , who is up In grade and the ratings but won with plenty in hand .
½ pt win Reeceltic @ 3/1
6.55 PREMIUM RACE
7.25 Despite the big field, few with any real chance at it looks very good for the in form Hope Probe after a brave run in the Carlisle mud last time off around this mark and the easier track in his favour .
½ pt win Hope Probe @ 5/4
7.55 Not a deep maiden and after a good effort against much stiffer opposition , this can go to Progressive Eze and should be fine on the ground .
½ pt ew Progressive Eze @ 8/1
Selected Stratford -soft ground on this flat and sharp track
5.40 Little point in opposing the clear form horse in Restandbethanful , but at 1/2 I can pass .
6.10 Another clear form horse in the reliable Go Steady who can double up despite a hefty 7 pound hit against out of form rivals .
¼ pt win Go Steady @ 2/1
