3 £1 doubles & £2 treble
Azzuri 1.00 @ 9/4
Kalaharry 1.53 @ 9/4
Tukhoom 2.55 @ 6/4
Selected Southwell – good to soft on this flat and sharp track.
1.00The fav is the errant Coole Well , who has a good long think before consenting to race and has his first run for the good stable of Fergal O’Brien, who has a great record with new intakes, but this one has a shocking win record and first time after a wind op not a positive for the stable . Azzuri runs this track very well and he’s very likely to try and make all and against very beatable rivals could well make an overdue return to the winners’ Circle .
½ pt win Azurri @ 9/4
1.35 Do It For Thy sen notched a deserved win over C&d and the 5 pound hit will test but should be fine on the softer ground and could well get away with it . Both Trumps Benefit andAstute Boy come here on the back of big runs at Hexham , a most different trac from today .
¼ pt win Do It For Thy sen @ 9/4
2.10 The Classy Hunter Cat Tiger will be hard to beat and is up against a couple of very decent types in Peacock’s Secret and Tanit River , and over this C&D the former should give the greater opposition but at odds on I can pass on the Tiger .
3.20 Rapid Flight has disappointed a few times but Colden’s dream did well on hurdles debut but softer ground today while Sounds Russian ran an OK race in a bumper ,but also has it to prove on the ground ??
3.55 Since returning from a long absence Nobby has looked hard to win with and Byzantine Empire is hardly convincing either . Gregor has been going well in soft ground bumpers and is preferred running for a top stable .
¼ pt win Gregor @ 11/4
4.30 As High Say sluiced in on her first run for Fergal O’Brien and could well be up to the 7 pound hit but soft ground an issue, Both Found On and Chosen Saint have good chances on the book and soft ground no issue , but that can’t be said about the upgraded Midnight Aurora . Tricky .
Selected Musselburgh – good to soft on this flat and galloping track
1.10 The clear form horse and fav in this modest maiden is Lilikoi , but this is her first try on soft ground and goes up in trip .
1.45 PREMIUM RACE
2.20 A competitive Class 4 handicap but the consistent Cockalurum will relish the ground and despite a slight drop in trip , is likely to try and make all and is a determined sort in the finish . Overwrite drops in grade and may also try to front run and wouldn’t be a surprise winner while tapeta specialist Bringitonboris shaped up very well on quick turf last time and today’s longer trip and softer ground will help .
¼ pt win Cockalorum @ 11/2
2.55 This is very weak and should be no problem for the down in grade Tukhoom , who comes here in good form and soft ground no issue which can’t be said for another form horse in Clotherhome.
½ pt win Tukhoom @ 6/4
3.30 The well drawn Harvest Day has been plummeting in the weights of late and responded well last time and this well drawn runner is preferred to the Leo davinci going up in trip and dual C&d winner Glengarry who could struggle on the ground .
¼ pt win Harvest Day @ 4/1
5.08 There wasn’t much between She’s A deva and Albegone in a decent quality Thirsk sprint last time , but softer ground an unknown for both . Mehmo is mightily consistent but just can’t nail one and because of her reliability , keeps getting nudged up the weights for not winning . She did well last time on soft ground at Ripon off this mark where the extra furlong just caught her out late on and this Swift C&d will suit.
¼ pt win Mehmo @ 7/2
Selected Bangor soft ground on this flat and sharp track
1.53 You can put a line through all of these in terms of current poor form and trip or ground being against them , so it looks good for the reliable Kalaharry , a lucky winner last time at Hexham in the mud when the clear leader took an unlucky last fence fall, but has won easily since under a penalty . That was over 2 miles , which is plenty short enough for the tip and despite the sharp nature of this track should get away with it up in trip and on soft ground .
¾ pt win Kalaharry @ 9/4
2.20 The odds on fav is Danger Money but the longer trip and softer ground both major issues.
3.03 The fav is the unlucky Man Of Light,, still going well until a last flight fall at Newton abbot, but very different ground today .Annie’s Prayer’s recent 3rd was only a modest effort while Army Of One struggled on soft ground on the flat recently and despite a first run for Richard Newland has a lot to prove today . Teescomponentslass didn’t show much on her hurdles debut but is with a good stable and today’s softer ground likely to help .
¼ pt ew Teescomponentslass @ 9/1
3.30 Loch German Lass was a ready winner over C&D recently in the mud and another good run likely despite the 5 pound hit. When last seen Oscar Nomination was a clear winner over C&D in the mud making all impressively . The 6 pound hit will test but the best time to catch long time absentees is first time back . Recent Ffos Las winner Tudors Treasure is a nasty 6 pounds higher and hasn’t done well here before .
¼ pt win Oscar Nomination @ 4/1
4.50 Not a strong finale and despite a further 6 pound nudge up the weights and switching to soft ground , Butler’s Brief remains the likely winner against unconvincing opposition and just about worth a bet .
¼ pt win Butler’s Brief @ 6/4
Selected Lingfield – all weather – polytack
5.35 Sir Mark Prescott is a master of producing lightly raced 2yos off generous opening marks up in trip for their 3yo campaign and the well backed The Tide Turns sluiced in at Wolver in the style of yet another from this stable to rattle off a sequence . The 6 pound hit looks Ok but he does switch to polytrack and up in grade and he did make all off a steady pace . All of his rivals go up in trip and have experience here and the 3 main rivals all won last time . The pick of these has to be Pride Of England who turned over a short priced Godolphin horse last time and shaped like a stayer .
¼ pt win Pride Of England @ 9/2
6.05 The short priced fav is recent Chester winner Alfaadel at this trip and the form is good but is matched by Sir Rumi , a winner at Nottingham on good ground over shorter and both make polytrack debuts and the former has a tricky wide draw. There are also a couple of runners from top stables. Easy to swerve .
6.35 PREMIUM RACE
7.05 The 4 with experience all have decent form but all on turf and there are a couple of newcomers from top stables .
7.35 The fav is the lightly raced hat-trick seeking Excel Power , but his mark looks high enough and has a first try on polytrack . All of Breath of Sun , Tenaya Canyon and Baba Reza have good C&d form and despite the latter going up in grade and in the ratings , won well last time when dropped in trip and despite the wide draw worth a dabble at nice odds .
¼ pt ew Baba Reza @ 12/1
8.05 The only certainty here is that it’s going to be raced at a strong pace as the in form trio of General Zoff, London Eye and Justified all like to dominate and veteran Gavlar will probably join in too . All of the first 3 named are on tough enough marks and despite not really firing of late, C&d winner Bird of Life has plummeted in the weights and this late player has a cracking race make up .
¼ pt ew Bird Of Life @ 12/1
8.35 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Newcastle- all weather – tapeta . The track is stiff and galloping
5.55 Really tough opener with 5 top stables having runners and only Innse Gael running for the local trainers , and is very much the outsider . Chase The Dollar struggled at this trip badly last time but the other four are very hard to split but Malboob looks well handicapped on a smart win at Thirsk and gets the nod .
¼ pt win Malboob @ 7/2
6.25 This is wide open and the short list is very long but looking at the racing styles of the runners, few get busy early which could give an edge to the prominent racing and in form Majallat, proven over C&D and appeals as a lively longshot .
¼ pt ew Majallat @ 12/1
6.55 Peter The Great got the better of Nagano on debut but the latter showed last time that tis trip suits well , and even further . This strong staying type can get revenge , but I can pass at skinny odds. Regal Vega cannot be ruled out after a smart fibresand win last time coming strongly off the pace .
7.25 The only one with experience is Robasta , and the form is pretty good and not bad odds .
¼ pt win Robasta @ 2/1
7.55 Tinker Toy runs for a top Southern stable and looked good last season, wining his first two and losing nothing in his hat-trick bid when a close 3rd off around this mark, but is new to the surface and goes up in trip and this stiff C&d could catch him out . It’s been a while since Home before Dark last rung the victory bell and has been getting plenty of help from the handicapper and hasn’t been far away in most of his races. He has a terrific record over C&D, 3 wins and 3 places from 6 starts. He’s a late player who the jockey knows well and with a couple of prominent racers in the field could run these down late on .
¼ pt win Home Before Dark @ 11/2
8.25 PREMIUM RACE
8.55 A tricky finale and I’m taking a chance with the downgraded and in form Debawtry , who’s won here over shorter but has run this distance well in the past .
¼ p ew Debawtry @ 11/1
