3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Peat Moss 3.45 @ 4/1
Ahdab 2.50 @ 7/2
Imperial Yellow 3.25 @ 4/1
Selected Huntingdon – good ground on this flat and galloping track
12.30 Big market move for the very well handicapped but oh so unconvincing King Golan having his first start for Richard Newland , who has a great record with new intakes . King Golan hasn’t won for 2 years and his record over hurdles is 0 from 10 ! so not hard to look elsewhere in this uncompetitive heat . realms Of Fire won well at Southwell last time with Moidore not far behind in 3rd and with the weight pull , I fancy revenge .
¼ pt win Moidore @ 5/1
1.30 Another big field where the majority are not in the best of form . The lightly raced Whitlock is the short priced fav but at the odds I prefer another lightly raced type in Power Home, successful in his first handicap but not so good at Southwell next time, but that track doesn’t suit every horse .
¼ pt ew Power Home @ 14/1
2.40 The admirable Just Sip, a win and 3 seconds in his last 4 is up in the ratings and trip in his first chase so a bit to prove there while the lightly raced Quiet Penny was an all the way winner at Fontwell last time but will be tested by the 7 pound hit and goes up in trip , and others here like to get busy early . Frilly Frock has had few chances and landed a big field Wincanton handicap at around this trip and mark and was given the Winter off as soft ground doesn’t suit. She ran well for a long way in her comeback spin and in an uncompetitive heat , looks a very nice dew play .
½ pt ew Frilly Frock @ 10/1
3.50 In another uncompetitive heat the fav is Merrry Berry after a much improved run when 2nd at Exeter , but goes up in trip and has been dealt a very harsh 8 pound penalty and this track is very different . Harbour Force showed a bit more like it last time and has run well off higher marks.
¼ pt win Harbour Force @ 10/3
Selected Leicester – good ground on this stiff and galloping track
1.10 Not a great deal to go on with most of these 3yos untried at this trip and most new to handicaps but you rarely see a Sir Michael Stoute runner off a mark of just 63, so the lightly raced Moonlit Night is worth an interest after showing up Ok in a decent Newmarket maiden last time .
¼ pt win Moonlit Night @ 3/1
2.15 Canoodle is proving hard to win with as she’s a hold up type, but wasn’t beaten far at all at Nottingham off this mark and this looks winnable with the fav celestial Queen up 4 pounds for only coming 2nd .
¼ pt win Canoodle @ 4/1
2.50 Hard to fancy many here and decent chance of recent Yarmouth winner Ahdab doubling up with just a 2 pound penalty and won quite cosily .
½ pt win Ahdab @ 7/2
3.25 The short priced fav is recent winner Twilight Calls, but is only on a fair mark and clear preference for Imperial Yellow, who after landing his maiden , found Class 1 company too hot for his top stable, but was far from disgraced behind a pair of proven types in that grade and on a workable mark .
½ pt win Imperial Yellow @ 4/1
Selected Cartmel – good ground on this flat and sharp track .
1.50 Not many here catch the eye and worth trying Too Much To ask, who’s been ticking over nicely of late and has gone close in this race before off around this mark and this hold up type will have a true pace to chase .
¼ pt win Too Much To Ask @ 11/2
2.25 PREMIUM RACE
3.00 PREMIUM RACE
3.35 PREMIUM RACE
4.10 A good pace is likely which will help the admirably consistent Templepark, who will appreciate the drop in trip and has winning form on sharp tracks . He’s still a bit high in the weights and is just preferred to the prolific Fire Away , who’s still unexposed .
1/2 pt win Templepark @ 9/2 1/4pt re fc Templepark – fire away
4.45 The odds on fav in this Hunter Chase is the useful Benefaktor but only run over regulation fences was hardly his best . The front running Rafferty landed an open between the flags by a long old way and ran well for a long way last time at Cheltenham. Lively longshot .
¼ p t ew Rafferty @ 16/1
Selected Chelmsford City – all weather – polytrack
1.25 Dig Too is the fav and brings the best form to the table, but switches to the all weather with a penalty so preference is for Showmedemoney , a good 4th on debut for a stable that does very well here with juveniles .
¼ pt win Showmedemoney @ 4/1
2.00 this wont take much winning and the downgraded Catheadeans Fury has shaped up well in both comeback starts , runs well after a break and this C&d winner is on a winning mark , but been unlucky in the draw , so just a small play for this late player .
¼ pt ew Catheadeans Fury @ 8/1
3.45 Peat Moss was a ready winner at this trip at Lingfield when last seen and is only 3 pounds higher in a most winnable race and subsequent break no issue.
½ pt win Peat Moss @ 7/2
4.15 The fav is the admirable front running Highfield Princess but was on a tough enough mark before her runaway win in the Haydock mud, where she set steady fractions and was given far too much rope. She’s 5 pounds higher which will surely test and others here like to front run too. Shimmering Dawn was not at her best here last time but this classy handicapper is well drawn and a good race make up for this late player .
¼ pt ew Shimmering Dawn @ 9/1
4.50 Quite an open event but worth trying Socru , 2nd over C&D for his new trainer last time , nicely drawn and a good jockey booking in Sean Levey .
¼ pt ew Socru @ 15/2
5.25 There was a time when Velvet Vista could be easily opposed as she just couldn’t land one but on her 19th start finally rang the victory bell and has won 4 times since, often the case for long standing maidens who finally get their nose In front . She comes here on a hat-trick and is only 3 pounds higher for a smart win and this hold up type will have a good pace to chase.
¼ pt win Velvet Vista @ 10/3
5.55 Expert opinion went close over C&D a few starts back with Mehmo behind off around this mark and except for a failed try on quick turf has held his form well . Nicely drawn, nice race male up for a strong finisher , but a bit worried about the first time cheekpieces , not a positive for the stable .
¼ pt ew expert Opinion @ 6/1
Chelmsford City placepot
Selected Windsor – good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.35 PREMIUM RACE
2.00 General Panic ran well with his penalty last time in a good Newmarket event and looks a solid fav in a winnable heat .
½ pt win General Panic @ 7/4
2.45 None of those with experience set the pulses racing so trying newcomer Bastigne, who didn’t come cheap and the David Evans’ juveniles are going very well .
¼ pt ew Bastogne @ 12/1
3.20 A strong pace is assured with a number of front runners which should set this up nicely for classy sprinter Jawwaal, who ran well for a long way In a hot big field handicap last time .
¼ pt win Jawwaal @ 5/2
4.27 Drying ground and a penalty will test Typical Man while the rise in grade and the ratings will test both of the recent winners in Sir Taweel and Devil’s Cub . The lightly raced No day Never wasn’t beaten far in a decent Leicester handicap giving the impression this longer trip would suit.
½ p tew No day Never @ 13/2
5.02 The short priced fav is the exciting Boomshalala after a demolition job at Kempton on polytrack and his only run on turf was nowhere near as good . Arousing was a smart winner on her debut , winning in the style of a filly with plenty more to give .
½ pt win Arousing @ 11/4
Selected Redcar – good to firm on this flat and galloping track
4.05 Navajo Spring was looking very hard to win with but a change of tactics to a hold up play, a drop in trip and a switch to ths C&d saw her well backed and sluicing through the pack for a much improved display . She has a terrific race make up with any number of front runners and can overcome the stiff 8 pound hit .
½ pt win Navajo Spring @ 4/1
4.40 The valuable Zetland Gold Cup and typically wide open but the prolific highwaygrey showed last time he wasn’t merely a Ponty specialist with a smart win at Donny and is only 3 pounds higher giving him a very decent shout .
¼ pt ew Highwaygrey @ 9/1
5.15 The tough and consistent Cockalorum will do well to double up with a stiff 5 pound hit and this could be the consistent and capable Home Before Dusk’s day .
¼ pt ew Home Before Dusk @ 6/1
5.50 a winnable finale and it can go to recent Ayr winner oliver’s Betty off just a pound higher mark .
¼ pt win Oliver’s Betty
