3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
The Guvnor 4.35 @ 5/1
Langholme 5.05@ 6/1
Molly Shaw 8.20 @ 5/2
Selected Brighton – good to firm ground on this undulating , sharp and tricky track
1.00The in form Portelet Bay is up in the ratings and trip while recent soft ground winner Greycious Girl is also on a higher mark and quicker ground today will test , so both would do well to get involved . The consistent Little Sunflower did well when 2nd here last time and the drop in trip no issue but I’m with Apache Jewel who’s run a couple of good races of late and was an unlucky 3rd over C&D last time . Well drawn and a very lively longshot .
¼ pt ew Apache Jewel @ 16/1
1.35 PREMIUM RACE
2.10 This looks very much a 3 horse war with the two winners in the field in Badlands and Far hope both bringing good form to the table , but this quicker ground will test the former . As they both carry penalties, both could be eclipsed by the useful Fast Medicine , who tried to make all at Thirsk last time but found the useful Aquaman too strong . If he opts to lead again , could take some catching .
¼ pt win Fast Medicine @ 3/1
3.20 Zulu Girl made a right fist of it a few starts back over C&D on quick turf when front rank throughout and only being chinned by a very much in form runner . She was a lot less effective on the all weather last time but is only a pound higher today and fair to expect another big run . The fav is the massively in form Dawn View , who was finding getting his nose in front very tough m but has found his niche here and is now 2 from 2 at the track , but the 5 pound hit will test and this is a deeper heat . Cap D’Antibes has a bit to prove switching to quick turf and the rest very hard to win with .
½ pt ew Zulu Girl @ 7/1
3.55 Kendergarten Kop goes for the track hat-trick but the penalty and drop In trip likely to prevent another win . but the opposition are mostly capable but not really firing .
4.25 Glamorous Force landed a big field handicap over C&D last time and is only 2 pounds higher and will be coming off the pace again but not many get busy early here and the capable front running Spreadsheet could be hard to catch .
¼ pt win Spreadsheet @ 11/2
Selected Redcar – good to firm on this flat and galloping track
1.15 PREMIUM RACE
1.45 A wide open big field handicap but the likes of the in form pair of Lead Story and camerily Joe have a bit to prove on quick turf and the latter is also much higher in the ratings and goes up in trip . Merry Secret put together a good series on polytrack at around this trip and mark but may need this returning from a break .Mabdaa ran well in a fast ground handicap at Thirsk , in quite a deep race and had a few Ok ones behind . He’s very likely to try and make all and not impossible at ,long odds .
¼ pt ew Mabdaa @ 33/1
2.55 The message was dropping for Heidi High on debut at Ayr and this longer trip will help and she will certainly be more street wise today. Zwift was a good 3rd on debut but on soft ground while the consistent Alaskan Jewel can’t be ruled out.
¼ pt ew Heidi High @ 6/1
3.30 PREMIUM RACE
4.35 Alnajeeb is the fav but hasn’t really convinced In his latest two starts and this longer trip will have to make a big difference . Clear preference is for The Guvnor who was very well backed last time out, not unusual for a Tom Clover horse , and ran very well in his first try on quick turf and at this trip . Wasn’t beaten far and can land this winnable heat .
½ pt win The Guvnor @ 5/1
5.05 A big field sprint for amateur riders but Langholm showed stacks of early pace when dropped in trip last time and wasn’t beaten far . He drops in trip again and wouldn’t be the first front runner in an amateur riders race to steal it from the front .
½ pt win Langholm @ 6/1
Selected Leicester – good to firm on this stiff and galloping track
3.10 The City’s Phantom is lightly raced and looked good making all at Yarmouth , but the 5 pound hit will test , as will the stiffer track and others here like to front run. Amir Kabir disappointed last time at Windsor, but previously ran a cracker at Newbury and the form has been well boosted . Worth another chance in a winnable race.
¼ pt win Amir Kabir @9/2
Selected Lingfield – good ground on this undulating and sharp track
5.20 The lightly raced Celestial Point absolutely hosed up at Brighton last time when upped in trip . It wasn’t much of a race but he won with abject ease and despite a 7 pound hit must be respected and goes up a further 2 furlongs too , which could suit . This is not a deep heat but you don’t see many Ed Walker horses in a 0-55 and he runs Beowulf , who showed bits of form in much better races last season and worth a dabble .
¼ pt win Beowulf @ 9/2
5.50 Many of these would either be happier on the all weather or on softer ground which gives the well handicapped and pretty consistent Carp Kid a decent ew shout .
¼ pt ew Carp Kid @ 8/1
6.20 Not a deep maiden and the clear form horse is Jubilee Bridge , a running on close 5th at Nottingham in a far better race and looks a most solid fav .
½ pt win Jubilee Bridge @ 6/5
6.50 The once useful Stake Acclaim has been revived by the drop in ratings and grade running 3 big races of late and this looks within his capabilities off the same mark .
¼ pt win Stake Acclaim @ 11/4
7.50 It’s worth taking a risk with the lightly raced Sam Bellamy running for a top stable and showed bits of ability last season in this uninspiring heat .
¼ pt win Sam Bellamy @ 6/1
8.20 Despite the big field it’s very hard getting excited about the prospects of many making the lightly raced and reliable Molly Shaw a great bet .She landed a double last year and went on to hold her form well in subsequent races off around this mark . There was little wrong with her comeback spin on ground quick enough and this prominent racer is well drawn to get a handy pitch on the favoured stands rails and with useful apprentice Seb woods taking a very handy 5 pounds off her back . looks like something to bet on .
¾ pt win Molly Shaw @ 11/4
Selected Yarmouth – good to firm on this flat and galloping track
5.30 Quite an open handicap , but not a great deal of early pace which will favour the prominent racers of Foreseeable Future, who could struggle for pace at this trip and the consistent salam Ya Faisal , who has run well here before . Spanish Mane took off last season , running a couple of personal bests in the style of an improved mare and only 3 pounds higher than her last winning mark . She is tactically versatile and runs this track well . Nice longshot .
¼ pt ew Spanish Mane @ 14/1
7.00 The consistent Byron Hill deserves a win and it should be celebration time for connections in this modest race . He’s in his usual good form, on a workable mark and trip no issue, should be his day .
½ pt win Byron Hill @ 6/4
7.30 The short priced fav is Cloudy Dawn who is 2 from 2 , on a fair mark on the strength of those wins but both victories on soft ground , so quick turf could test . After three big runs on the all weather , Copinet lost nothing in defeat with a good 3rd on quick turf and the return to this trip will certainly help .
½ pt win Copinet @ 5/2
8.00 PREMIUM RACE
8.30 A very open handicap and I’m trying a longshot in Arqoob , who had decent form last season and had an unlucky run in his Newmarket comeback spin .
¼ pt ew Arqoob @ 20/1
