Blu Boy 3.40 @ 9/1
Lafan 4.50 @ 12/1
Victory Angel 4.55 @ 7/2
Selected Donny- good to firm on this flat and galloping track
1.20 PREMIUM RACE
2.30 The lightly raced and prolific Rodrigo Diaz did well in a rare spin on turf , coming from way back to chase home a smart one at Newmarket , with the rest of the field scattered across Cambridgeshire . The clear danger is Hasty Sailor but returns from a 6 months break and a bit to prove on quick turf .
½ pt win Rodrigo Diaz @ evens
3.05 A tricky contest as these 3yos are not yet fully exposed as stayers but both Olympic Theatre and Reverand Hubert are now on very tough marks and both at their best in the mud . Mark Johnston runs three but the two main ones are the front running and 4 timer seeking Dancing King and the hat-trick seeking kondo Isami , and they’re hard to split , and both have stiff penalties , but the former has impressed with bold front running displays and gets the nod .
½ pt win Dancing King @ 5/1
3.40 Tenbury Wells has a stack to prove after a shocking comeback spin while Tawaareq has it to prove going up in trip . Blu Boy has impressed with bold front running displays and was an honourable 3rd at York , beaten just 2 lengths in the mud , but has won well on quick turf . He shapes very much as this trip will suit and a nice play at the odds.
½ pt win Blu Boy @ 9/1
4.50 A very open finale with plenty of In form runners , but not much early pace on which draws me to the consistent Lafan, who runs for a top stable and in famous colours. He’s been consistent in maidens and runs as this longer trip will suit and his opening handicap mark gives him every chance . He’s one of the very few prominent racers in the field and could well get the run of the race .
½ pt ew Lafan @ 12/1
Selected Hexham – good ground on this undulating , stiff and galloping track
1.30 PREMIUM RACE
2.05 Wor Verge was looking easy to take on as this consistent sort just couldn’t nail one , but that all changed coming from the back to win easily at Perth and followed that up with a big run over C&d on soft ground off around this mark . Expect another waiting ride and can get the better of the luckless Brickadank .
½ pt win Wor Verge @ 11/4
3.50 PREMIUM RACE
4.45 Track specialist Sheriff Garrett is up in the weights and drying ground will testv, but has found himself in a winnable heat and preferred .
¼ pt win Sheriff Garrett @ 3/1
5.20 The lightly raced Astute Boy certainly outrun his long odds getting pretty close to some much higher rated types but backed that up with a solid 2nd at Southwell, predictably running on very well around that speed track . Back on this searching circuit , could be the one .
¼ pt win Astute Boy @ 4/1
Selected Musselburgh – good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.40 Vey hard to rule any of these decent 2yos out .
2.15 You could give a chance to most in this ultra competitive heat but with so much early pace about this will favour the late players and track specialist Donnelly’s Rainbow has a cracking race make up for a hold up type .
¼ pt ew Donnelly’s Rainbow @ 10/1
2.50 This will take little winning with Sir Benedict up in tripand better on soft ground and Captain Cooper still unproven on turf . Yazaman looked highly promising last year but suffered from seconditis and has now gone down the handicap route and his last two runs have been pretty good. You just worry about his poor win record .
¼ pt win Yazaman @ 5/2
3.25 The short priced fav is Dhushan , who the top trainer rates so highly entered him for the Derby but must be happy with his handicap mark of 85 , but this looks far from straight forward and there are a trio of typically tough Mark Johnston horses the pick of which is the consistent but luckless Bailey’s Derbyday and this could be his day .
¼ pt win Bailey’s Derbyday @ 5/1
4.00 A valuble Listed race for fillies and the fav is the Irish raider Zaffy’s Pride . The Irish are plundering these shores with increased regularity and this race wont take much winning . She doesn’t look bombproof but this is rare visit to Scotland for Jessie Harrington and another Irish winner looks on .
½ pt win Zaffy’s Pride @ 5/2
4.55 Militia is sure to bomb out and is 3 from 3 here but has a lot to prove after a shocker of a run last time. Eeh Bah Gum is getting plenty of help from the handicapper but not really getting any nearer . Victory Angel has a terrific record over C&D and was most unlucky last time here when going very well but couldn’t get any room at all, which can happen to hold up types , but this field is likely to be more spread out providing more room to unleash his flying finish .
½ pt win Victory Angel @ 7/2
Selected Worcester – good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.45 Captain Tom Cat was hugely impressive in his first chase making all in an Aintree handicap and is odds on for the double , but is up against 3 useful novices , so would do very well to double up .
2.20 The veteran Mr Mafia comes to life here with a win and 5 places from 9 tries and comes here on the back of a much improved effort of late , over C&D on this ground when front rank throughout and keeping on manfully only to be chinned by Sandy Boy and both have been nudged up the weights and both have clear claims again. As You Like and Commodore Barry have clear shouts but the consistent Furious de Ciergues could struggle on this speed track on this ground while the in form Docte Dina is a doubtful stayer . I’m with the old guy to run another big race .
¼ pt ew Mr Mafia @ 11/1
2.55 The hat-trick seeking Shareef Star has a massive 9 pound hit to overcome but has found a winnable race and could get away with it , but not for me at short odds.
4.0 This looks a match between the consistent Jarvey’s Plate and youngster Shentri , who has a bit to prove at this trip , so the former gets the nod .
¼ pt win Jarvey’s plate @ 3/1
5.35 A competitive finale but Simply Loveleh has stamins doubts and this is much tougher than the race Howdilyoudo won over C&d recently .Just Once is holding her form well and looks a nice ew play .
¼ pt ew Just Once @ 9/1
Selected Epsom – good to soft on this undulating , sharp and tricky track
2.00 a tricky opener with King Frankel up in the weights for a big run when 2nd last time, but still much respected and Patient Dream up in the weights and trip , but again not ruled out . Chase The dollar likes to get his toe in and this front runner stays the trip well. Could take a bit of reeling in .
¼ pt ew Chase The Dollar @ 9/1
2.35 PREMIUM RACE
3.10 The fav is dual winner of this race in century Dream , who has a clear advantage at the ratings and will welcome the ground but does have two ways of running and has disappointed badly the last twice . The front running Maries Diamond is very likely to have his own way up front and ground is fine . Could slip the field .
½ pt win Maries Diamond @ 7/1
3.45 I love this race and it’s a shame that 3 time winner the now veteran Caspian Prince has been pulled out because of the ground as he would have given his backers another good run for their money . With all big field sprints on a straight track begin with finding where the early pace will come from and the probable leaders are former winner of this Ornate, Lord Riddiford, Recon Mission , Pettochside and Sunday Sovereign , who is drawn high but the other 4 drawn low so likely that’s where the race will develop but C&d winner Recon Mission does handle soft ground and can dispute and keep it going all the way so gets the nod .
½ pt ew Recon Mission @ 11/1
4.30 The Derby and for once Aidan O’Brien is not mob handed with runners so his solitary entry Bolshoi Ballet is probably a tip in itself and heads the market and must have every chance . The Irish mudlark Mac Swiney is not out of this and this longer trip should suit. You could make a case for the vast majority of these and I’m going for a longshot in Adayir, not disgraced last time in the mud in the Lingfield trial and has a progressive profile and bred for the job .
¼ pt ew Adayir @ 40/1
5.15 It’s not a deep race and the front running and in form group One Power is certainly the one to beat . He won over C&d then lost nothing in defeat off this mark in the Goodwood mud . Soto Sizzler runs this track well but soft ground is a no no and as long as the tip can secure an early lead , should be no stopping him .
½ pt win Group One Power @ 7/4
It’s a very trappy card and I can’t find one worthwhile bet so giving the meeting the swerve
Selected Chepstow – good ground on this undulating , galloping and quite stiff track
6.30 Drying ground is no real help to a couple of the fancied ones in track specialist Bluebell Time , the back to form Bellevarde and recent C&d winner Flip Mode . Moonraker bounced back to his best last time on the Southwell fibresand but you can’t set your watch by this one and a return to turf also poses questions . Attys Edge is a C&D winner who shaped up well in his comeback spin and is a nice longshot .
¼ pt ew Atty’s Edge @ 11/1
7.30 Quite a few in form ones here in Raajihah Mostallim and Peachy carnehan , but all will be tested off their marks . Topweight Bounty Pursuit has been going well of late and returns to his favourite track , 2 wins and 3 places from 6 tries ! He has a very rare run in a 0-60 , will like the ground and the young jockey rides him very well .
½ pt ew Bounty Pursuit @ 11/2
9.00 a most winnable race and the prolific Plansina proved last time her effectiveness on turf and despite a small field a few of these get busy early giving this late player a very nice race make up and as her win came at this trip at Bath on this ground, this C&D should be fine .
½ pt win Plansina @ 2/1
