3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Maketh Beliveth 2.10 @ 7/2
Ayr Empress 2.20 @ 10/3
Platinumcard 3.00 @ 3/1
Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta
1.35 A tricky event with many on workable marks but current form an issue with some and of course have to prove effectiveness on the surface. Calonne has been going Ok of late over trips short of his best and has run plenty of big races at Newcastle off around this mark, so proven on the surface and from a nice draw, a decent ew play .
1/2 pt ew Calonne @ 8/1
2.10 The lightly raced Maketh Beliveth ran a cracker over C&D last time, front rank throughout and only narrowly denied and never stopped trying . The 3 pound hit is rather cruel , but still makes most appeal . Expect a prominent ride against a field with plenty to prove , especially Out Of Reason and Evaluation , who have been running very poorly of late . The lightly raced Mushrif is the unknown quantity but does return from a break and untried at the trip and surface .
1/2pt win Maketh Beliveth @ 7/2
2.45 This looks there for the taking with recent C&D winner Urtzi , a flop here last time racing off a massive 8 pound higher mark and Arthur’s Victory , a bit to prove off her mark and this surface . The lightly raced Cabrini hasn’t been far away of late and is relate to some useful tapeta performers .
¼ pt ew Cabrini @ 6/1
Selected Ayr- good to soft on this flat and galloping track.
1.50 A very tricky opener and most have clear claims, but despite being on a long losing run, Koropick has dropped to a good mark and there was nothing wrong with his close 3rd at Thirsk , 2 grades higher than this .
¼ pt win Koropick @ 4/1
2.25 This will take little winning and presents a good opportunity for the consistent Ayr Empress, solid form at the trip off around this mark and this C&D should be fine . Veteran Royal Regent has a cracking record here but despite plenty of help from the handicapper , isn’t even looking like ending his losing run .
½ pt win Ayr Empress @ 10/3
3.00 The short priced fav is the lightly raced and unexposed Kolisi, but whether this C&D and ground provide optimum conditions is questionable , as he shapes very much as a stayer . As Khagan and Dream With Me, the likely pacesetter , but now on a very stiff mark , are unlikely to figure , the consistent PLatinumcard looks a good bet . He has an unusual profile, only fair efforts in bumpers , but far better under flat rules , landing a Hamilton maiden at very long odds beating a few reliable yardsticks and won over C&D last time , and is only a pound higher ! Despite the small field , a good gallop is likely and this determined sort can go in again .
¾ pt win Platinumcard @ 3/1
3.35 It’s never easy for 2yos to defy a penalty so both Miss Calculation and C&D winner Chelsea Annie would do very well to go in again which makes the consistent Ribaldry of most interest . She’s done little wrong in both runs, proven at the trip and ground and from a good draw, could well make all .
½ pt win Ribaldry @ 7/2
4.05 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Windsor – good to soft on this flat and galloping track
5.05 A weak handicap for apprentices and the fav is the back to form Excellent George , who finally took advantage of a big drop in the ratings to win at Chelmsford City , but has a stiff enough penalty and the ground is not in his favour and the jockey is struggling for success. I’m keen to take him on , but what with , everything is hard to fancy .
5.35 A similar contest and the solid fav is the consistent but luckless Thaki, who should finally be breaking his duck In a weak heat. Willingly is on too stiff a mark and Wiff Waff has forgotten how to win . The tip will be coming late and fast .
½ pt win Thaki @ 7/4
7.05 The fav is the poorly handicapped Maiden Castle , who does have two ways of running and wont be able to dominate with other front runners in the field, returning from a break . Oh It’s Saucepot is on a good mark and her hold up style will be well suited to a race likely to be run at a good gallop , but on a losing run , so just a dabble .
¼ pt win Oh It’s Saucepot @ 7/2
7.35 PREMIUM RACE
8.05 PREMIUM RACE
Windsor placepot .
Selected Ripon – good to soft on this undulating and sharp track
5.55. None of these 2yos are the finished article but the consistent and expensive Form Of Praise has done enough to suggest this is within reach .
¼ pt win Form Of Praise @ 4/1
6.25 A very tricky nursery but in low grade affairs like this often wise to go for the top weight as the unexposed Kendred Flyer improved to win well at Thirsk last time and on a fair mark judged on that .
¼ pt win Kindred Flyer @ 9/2
7.55 The front running Digital keeps getting nudged up the weights for near misses so preference is for Kraken Power , an improved run when dropped to this trip at Musseburgh last time when a close 3rd behind older horses .
½ pt win Kraken Power @ 3/1
