Axel Jackson 3.00 @ 28/1
Selected Deauville – good to soft on this generally flat and galloping track
12.58 A Group 3 for 2yos and both of the English runners in The Wizard of Eye and Oneforthegutter have the form and potential to run big races . The fav is the Andre Fabre trained Never Dies, but his recent win came on deep ground and just a maiden . I’m trying Who Knows , who after landing a sprint at Deauville recently did nothing wrong next time when 4th in a Group 2 giving every indication that this longer trip would suit .
¼ pt ew Who Knows @ 13/2
1.33 A winnable race and the one with the best form is the useful Monty , who has run big races at Longchamp this season in a Group 1 and a Group 2 and warmed up for this with a smart win in lesser company . Looks a really nice bet at the odds .
½ pt ew Monty @ 13/2
2.50 A very valuable Group 1 worth a cool half a £million to the winner ! and the odds on fav is the highest rated Miler around in Palace Pier but Irish colt Poetic Flare is rated just a few pounds lower and we can also very much add to the mix another Irish trained runner in Alpine Star , narrowly beaten by Palace Pier last year and her recent comeback spin was an OK effort considering it was on unsuitable fast ground and it was very much a prep race for this . Very nice ew play .
½ pt ew Alpine Star @ 9/1
4.00 A tricky Group 3 for fillies and as most are lightly raced , hard to now their ceiling but I like the chance of the Godolphin filly Sayyida, who after landing two lesser events, lost nothing in defeat next time in a competitive Newmarket Class 1 at this trip , and never stopped trying .
¼ pt ew Sayyida @ 11/1
Selected Dundalk – all weather – tapeta
1.30 The consistent Colonel Slade goes well over C&D and well drawn for a prominent racer , could be his day .
¼ pt win Colonel Slade @ 5/1
2.05 Given a prominent ride from the worst of the draw, Maccliff finally broke her duck and ran well , again over C&D, on her recent comeback spin , off this mark and given a much more patient ride . Draw could have been kinder again but in a winnable heat looks a cracking ew play .
½ pt ew Maccliff @ 14/1
3.50 PREMIUM RACE
4.25 Youngster Hell Bent has won 2 of his last 3 and today is only his 7th ever race and 3rd try in a handicap . He’s up 3 pounds for that determined win , but has a crack 3 pound claimer aboard and worth chancing first time on the surface for his top stable .
½ pt ew Hell Bent @ 11/1
Selected Southwell – all weather – fibresand
The key factor here is the surface and horses proven are always worth s second look and worth checking breeding as this also stacks up very well .
1.35 A modest sprint and hard to get excited about the fancied Babe Delicios’ chance down in trip and first time on the surface . A high draw is a disadvantage here, which is a negative for one here with a strong chance in Elzaal, who has siblings who won on the surface , but is also a long standing maiden . I’m trying the well drawn Triple Aye , who has the form to land this and one previous run here wasn’t devoid of promise .
¼ pt win Triple Jaye @ 4/1
2.10 None of these have any experience on this surface but a few are bred for the job including newcomer Milly Molly Mandy, closely related to the prolific course winner Susie Javea, and if she possesses the same attitude worth a dabble at very long odds , in a week where a number of very longshots have surprised .
¼ pt ew Milly Molly Mandy @ 50/1
2.45 A wide open good quality Class 4 sprint but track winner Praxeology could struggle off this mark down in trip and the recently revival of Giogiobbo came to an abrupt end at Yarmouth last time and form here is very patchy . The ultra reliable Velocistar has progressed really well and is a dual C&D winner . If getting out sharply from her low draw, could take some catching .
½ pt ew Velocistar @ 6/1
3.20 The in form Fossos is bred for the surface but the longer trip will test while C&d winner Better By Far is back on a winning mark , but not in the best of form of late . Galeophobia went close over C&D a few starts back off a higher mark and has had a few excuses of late . Worth a dabble at long odds . Plastic Paddy is interesting both on form and with the recent stable switch to top trainer here Mike Appleby .
¼ pt ew Galeophobia @ 16/1
3.55 C&D winner Macmerry Jim has struggled for a while so worth trying Dark Seas , a consistent sort on a good mark and chanced on the surface .
¼ pt win Dark Seas @ 9/2
4.30 The prolific King Victor is proven over C&D but is now on a very testing mark . Lord Torenaga can be relied upon to run his race and won on this surface when trained in France , so worth a nice ew at the odds.
½ pt ew Lord Torenaga @ 8/1
No advice from Tramore today
Selected Chelmsford City – all weather – polytrack
3.00 Both Sky Blue Thinking and Duke of Prussia have a bit to prove switching from tapeta and the in form Cmon Cmon is now just a bit high in the weights . Axel Jackson is well capable off this mark , trip and surface and looks a very lively longshot .
½ pt ew Axel Jackson @ 28/1
3.35 The activity at the top of the market concern a trio of lightly raced fillies all with big stables, in famous colours and all have rung The victory Bell in few chances , but Tomouh , Star Jewel and Star Seeking all have a bit to prove either at the trip, mark or surface which makes recent Lingfield winner Hala joud worth a dabble at long odds .
¼ pt win Hala Joud @ 11/1
4.10 An unappealing low grade handicap and I’m with the lightly raced Pop Favourite , a recent close 3rd at Lingfield at this trip and a similar run sees him going close , at least .
¼ pt win Pop Favourite @ 5/1
4.45 PREMIUM RACE
5.20 The admirably consistent Violette Szabo is likely to be outpaced switching to an easy track and polytrack and Fury , only gets going when the race is over . This looks close between the consistent Thunderflash and recent Lingfield winner Miss Sligo , and that form takes her close here .
¼ pt win Miss Sligo @ 7/2
Chelmsford City placepot
Selected Ponty – good to firm
2.35 Kings Prince looked very good when bolting up over C&D a few starts back, but not so smart since and first time blinkers has never worked for the top stable . Both Possible Man and Boltaway are progressive youngsters for top stables and in famous colours but both are on stiff enough marks making the outsider , the capable Dash Of Spice worth a dabble , who was rated much higher when trained by David Elsworth , ran well to be 2nd over C&D earlier in the season off a higher mark and has been placed in both tries in Class 3 .
¼ pt win Dash of Spice @ 10/1
3.10 PREMIUM RACE
3.45 Baby Alya is going very well and hard to see any problems with this stiff C&D or mark but she is a hold up type and this is likely to be tactical, but as she ticks far more boxes than her rivals is hard to ignore .
½ pt win Baby Alya @ 9/2
4.20 After a clever win over C&D , Flint Hill backed that up with an excellent 3rd in a big field York handicap , a track which wouldn’t play into his strengths . Looks a very solid fav .
½ pt win Flint Hill @ 2/1
