3 £1 doubles & £2 treble
Highwaygrey 2.55 @ 11/4
Cottam Lane 3.30 @ 7/4
Indian Sounds 4.05 @ 11/4
Selected Newmarket – good ground on this undulating , stiff and galloping track
1.00A tricky opener with a trio of newcomers wearing famous colours and racing for top stables but all of Sarsons Risk , Dawn of Liberation and Adjourn bring decent form to the table and the nod goes to the latter , who did very well coming off the pace at Chester ,not an easy thing to do on your debut , finishing strongly in 2nd . Great things are expected from this youngster whose value rocketed from £20,000 as a yearling to £135,000 as a 2yo , often a sign of a decent type .
¼ pt ew Adjourn @ 13/2
1.35 A very competitive nursery but the 4 timer seeking Noisy Night was all out to win last time and has a stiff penalty , goes up in trip and switches from the all weather , where all of his wins were achieved .Another who makes scant appeal is Desert Angel , another with a stiff penalty and drying ground will test . Mr Professor is 2 from 2 since joining the small stable of Alice Haynes and won as he liked at Bath last time in a competitive heat . This C&D should suit and this unexposed type could make light of the 6 pound hit .
¼ pt win Mr Professor @ 11/2
2.10 Another competitive heat but if we go back a few races . Gellhorn won well from the admirable Gale Force Maya and another likeable filly in Lovely Breeze and comes out best at the weights today . She’s had excuses since , soft ground at Goodwood and outclassed in a Listed event last time , but in calmer waters today and she’s proven over this kind of C&D .
¼ pt win Gellhorn @ 4/1
2.45 A Group 3 for 2yos and the fav is the French raider Trident , who brings the best form to the table but drying ground an issue and goes up in trip . Claim The Crown is massively overpriced for his chance in an open race and could be a shock winner .
¼ pt ew Claim The Crown @ 33/1
3.20 PREMIUM RACE
3.55 This looks well winnable with the drop in trip most unlikely to help Lostwithiel and Boltaway was well held off this mark last time . The Mark Johnston youngster Tribal Art comes here on a hat-trick and only 3 pounds higher for a good win at Carlisle last time . Expect a prominent ride and this C&D should be fine.
½ p t win Tribal Art @ 2/1
4.30 The front running Bake is 2 from 2 this season and only 2 pounds higher for a determined win at Donny , when leading all the way and coming back strongly once headed. There wont be much opposition up front early on today and if handling this stiffer circuit , the hat-trick is on .
½ pt win Bake @ 5/2
Selected Perth – good to soft on this flat and sharp track
1.25 The fav is Super Six on the strength of a great run in The Cheltenham Champion Bumper , when doing all of his work late on but flopped badly in the Aintree equivalent . The drying ground wont help and this C&D could be far too sharp , so preference for the useful flat horse It’s Good To Laugh , a winner at Chester last time and rated a lofty 94 . It’s all about the jumping .
¼ pt win It’s good To Laugh @ 9/4
1.55 Aliomanna had her race sewn up over C&D last time until taking an unlucky last flight fall . Should put her experience to good use against 4 newcomers .
½ pt win Aliomaana @ 5/4
2.30 PREMIUM RACE
3.40 This will take little winning and Irish raider O’Connell Street will take some beating .
½ pt win O Connell Street @ 11/8
4.15 A competitive hurdle but worth a play on track regular Gripper , a consistent sort who has improved greatly since switching stables and no reason why he wont run his race again on a fair mark .
1/4pt ew Gripper @ 10/1
4.50 Youngster Head On is 2 from 2 over fences and the penalty could have been far worse, but both wins came at Worcester , a very different track from today so preference for Spider’s Bite after a back to form run last time when just touched off by a capable Irish raider , but does return from s break and has switched stables .
¼ pt win Spider’s Bite @ 3/1
5.20 This wont take much winning and it offers a great opportunity for Headscarf Lil ,who after 2 good runs , one over C&D , flopped at Worcester , but she is the form horse and worth forgiving as Worcester is not every horse’s favourite track .
¼ pt win Headscarf Lil @ 13/2
No advice from Listowel today
Selected Ponty – good to firm on this undulating , galloping and stiff track
1.45 The very long odds on fav is the 100 rated Eldrickjones , but he remains a maiden and I much prefer a dabble on Luxor Flush, a close 2nd in both tries , both at Beverley so this track should suit as should the extra furlong .
½ pt win Luxor Flush @ 5/1
2.20 You could make a case for practically all in this competitive nursery but the nod goes to Fuente Ovejuna , on a good mark on her maiden win at Newmarket , so this C&D should be fine and was considered good enough to chance a Listed race last time by the strong stable.
¼ pt win Fuente Ovejuna @3/1
2.55 Highwaygrey is a standing dish around here and still on competitive mark . He’s a hold up type but Living Legend should ensure a true run race and looks good for C&D win Number 5 .
½ pt win Highwaygrey @ 11/4
3.30 It was only a matter of time before Cottam Lane clicked and it came over C&D and backed that up with an excellent effort off this mark when a close 5th at York, finishing strongly . This wont take a great deal of winning , front running Bowman now on a stiff mark and may well not have his own way up front while the admirably consistent Oso Rapido is now on a stiff looking mark and drops in trip .
¾ pt win Cottam Lane @ 7/4
4.05 Another winnable heat and you have to feel for Indian Sounds , being shoved up a hefty 4 pounds for a big run when 2nd over C&D , with the rest of a good field scattered all over Yorkshire . Wont be far away again .
1/2 pt win Indian Sounds @ 11/4
Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta
5.25 PREMIUM RACE
6.00 The odds on fav is Kaboo who ran a cracker on debut at Royal Ascot , when 6th in a big field, but not so smart since . Off the track for 2 months and new to the surface , not for me at odds on especially against the able pair of Ridicule and White Jasmine .
6.30 PREMIUM RACE
7.00 Should be plain sailing for Mumcat after a cracking debut over C&D when 2nd in what looked a deep maiden, but is odds on .
7.30 The clear form horse is Holdenhurst , who comes here on a hat-trick , but the 5 pound hit takes him out of his comfort zone but on the plus side , this is very winnable and he’s 2 from 2 here and has looked good winning his last two .
½ pt win Holdenhurst @ 6/1
8.00 A very competitive handicap and the consistent Guiseppe Cassioli is probably the worthy fav , a winner over C&D and narrowly beaten off around this mark at Kempton last time but preference is for another C&D winner is Asdaa, who disappointed last time here but bounced back with a big run on turf last time .
¼ p t ew Asdaa @ 8/1
8.30 The short priced fav is the hat-trick seeking progressive youngster Diamond Bay , but this is competitive and despite sluicing in last time at Kempton , and the 6 pound hit looking generous , he’s knew here and solid chances can be given to all of Just Jacob, Night Moment and if on a going day Out Of reason but the vote goes to the massively consistent Hashtagmetoo, who ran a big race at Bath last time off this mark when 3rd in a highly competitive heat , and the winner has sluiced in since and her only run here was perfectly Ok .
½ pt ew Hashtagmetoo @ 10/1
