3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Yeavering Belle 1.30 @ 7/2
Pink eyed Pedro 2.05 @ 7/2
Golden Taipan 3.15 @ 4/1
Selected Ludlow – probably good to firm on this mostly flat and sharp track
1.00Scots Gold brings pretty good form to the table and should make his experience tell but there are a number of dark horses in the ex- French Allset and Saint Riquier and both Genuflex and Epic Pass were OK sorts on the flat .
1.30 The front running Yeavering Belle landed this last year on the same ground and mark , refusing to be beaten in the drive for the line . Very good chance of the double in a winnable heat .
½ pt win Yeavering Belle @ 3/1
2.05 A competitive small field handicap but Undersupervision , has raced only on deep ground and has his first ever try over fences today, and his mark could be more generous too . The front running Shoal Bay is a C&D is a C&D winner on quick ground and was coasting to a smart win on his comeback spin until taking a most unlucky last fence fall, but is still a stiff 6 pounds higher today which makes the ultra reliable Pink Eyed Pedro a good chance of a most deserved win . He’s been on the go a long time but is showing no signs of wavering and has been dropped a few pounds which can only help . He’s ran well here before and the ground is no issue and the likely strong pace is in this stayer’s favour .
½ pt win Pink Eyed Pedro @ 4/1
3.15 In this 7 horse novice chase, full of inform types, 6 of the 7 are front runners and some of them trying fences for the first time so it’s going to be very busy up front , not helping each other’s chance by battling for domination and this will be set up ideally for the well handicapped , late playing Golden Taipan .
¾ pt win Golden Taipan @ 4/1
3.50 The ultra consistent El Borracho is on a hat-trick but as he switches back to hurdles , can race of a 16 pound lower mark ! but this mark did seem high enough over timber but he has improved of late since being ridden more prominently . See The Sea is sure to set a strong gallop but remains hard to win with so preference is for the back to form , well handicapped and late playing Court Royale .
¼ pt win Court Royale @ 4/1
Selected Sedgefield , probably good to soft on this undulating and sharp track.
1.38 Punxsutawney Pete is the clear form horse but I’m taking a chance with the decent soft ground loving flat horse in Spiritofthenorth , who runs for top flat trainer Kevin Ryan , who does well with his few National Hunt sorties , especially here .
¼ pt ew Spiritofthenorth @ 8/1
2.48 Joey Steel has a bit to prove up in the ratings and on softer ground while long standing maiden Grey Atlantic Way goes up massively in trip ,which could work being an ex-pointer but clear preference is for the bold and reliable front rutting Dutch Canyon , crucially proven over this tricky C&D and is only a few pounds higher than when last seen here and had the race sewn up when falling at the last . Soft ground not ideal but does get away with it , especially In a race as uncompetitive as this .
½ pt win Dutch Canyon @ 5/1
3.58 Anything which crosses The Irish Sea has to be of interest so Turbo can’t be discounted but I’m sticking with proven C&D form and the back to form Instant replay has 6 course wins in the book , mostly when front running . A lesser run here last time came over hurdles and is only a pound higher for his last chase victory here . Form on soft ground is a bit patchy but is given the nod over recent easy Bangor winner Northern Bound , who has no penalty , but form on soft ground is not his best .
¼ pt win Instant Replay @ 5/1
4.33 Not a deep race and I’m with the youngster Blue Hawaii, who has a good win record and will relish the soft ground . Has a good record running fresh and mark looks workable . A bit put off by the recent wind-op as it hasn’t helped other members of the stable in the past .
¼ pt ew Blue Hawaii @ 8/1
Selected Nottingham – soft ground on this flat and galloping track
1.55 The fav is the highly rated Eldrickjones , who made quite a meal of finally breaking his duck winning a weak event at Ponty on good ground , running around 30 pounds below his rating . He looks very much the type who runs well in classy events , when the pace is strong , but struggles in lower grade events , races he should be landing with ease . His only ever run was on soft ground so preference is for the capable Miss Calculation , whose only run on deep ground resulted in her best ever effort .
¼ pt ew Miss Calculation @ 9/1
2.30 PREMIUM RACE
3.40 PREMIUM RACE
4.50 PREMIUM RACE
5.20 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Kempton – all weather – tapeta
4.58 Looks very much a match but preference is for Bayraq, who ran really well on a recent debut over C&D when unlucky in the run In 3rd . Clear danger is the odds on fav Millennial Moon , but carries a penalty and new to the surface .
¼ pt win Bayraq @ 9/4
5.30 Both At A Pinch and Aracmena have good placed form in the book but both have had plenty of chances and are looking hard to win with and At A Pinch , today’s fav ,ran a stinker last time beaten by a much lower rated sort . Preference is for the lightly raced Hang Up , a good 3rd here last time and very much bred for this longer trip , and further .
¼ pt win Hang Up @ 6/1
6.00 Plenty of in form and reliable sorts in this competitive handicap but the nod goes to the highly consistent Graystone ,holding his form well off this kind of mark , proven at the track and promises to stay this longer trip .
¼ pt ew Graystone @ 9/1
7.00 At the weights this Tabdeed’s to lose as this consistent sprinter has at least 5 pounds in hand over his opponents but hasn’t won this season despite having a number of golden chances and has a rare try on polytrack. Preference is for the in form Soldier’s Minute a superb 2nd in The Ayr Silver Cup and 3 of his career 5 wins have come over C&D ! Ryan Moore rides from the plum draw .
½ pt win Soldier’s Minute @ 4/1
7.30 The short priced fav is the much improved Paxos , who is proven over C&D , keeping his form well and despite being on a career high mark , is rarely far away . I’m going for a longshot in the very much back to form Full Intention , who after landing a Lingfield handicap , proceeded to run two big races off this mark, the latest a close 3rd over C&D. He returns after a lengthy 7 months break, but has run well fresh in the past .
¼ pt ew Full Intention @ 16/1
8.00 Recent gambled on winner Coolagh Magic won with ease on his first start for Robin Brisland , but more of a worry than the 3 pound hit is the drop in trip , worst of the draw and this being his 2nd race back after a break, statistically, they flop ! Few in this carry high hopes and the consistent Gherkin was 2nd in this last year but the first time blinkers haven’t helped stablemates in the past . The C&D winner Rainbow Mirage has showed enough of late to be good enough off this much reduced mark .
¼ pt win Rainbow Mirage @ 4/1
