today's fortune for A Fiver
3 50p ew doubles & £1 ew treble
Hundred Isles 3.20 @ 8/1
Andaleep 2.45 @ 10/1
Alborkan 4.15 @ 6/1
Selected Bath – good to firm on this undulating , sharp but stiff track
2.10 PREMIUM RACE
2.45 A wide open handicap and the short list is very long but I’ve been with Andaleep quite a few times of late . and has certainly ran his race , often at long odds, and the switch to the top dual purpose stable of Fergal O’Brien has to be seen as a positive considering his great record with new intakes .
½ p t ew Andaleep @ 8/1
3.20 Il Bandito would be a popular winner as he’s been a good 2nd In his last 6 races , but no real excuses and not getting any closer , and because of his marvellous consistency, the handicapper wont give him a chance . The back to form Brains didn’t run great when last seen here while Barshaa has a bit to prove switching from the all weather. Hundred Miles continues to run big races off a mark testing enough . Well drawn for a prominent racer and has run well on stiff tracks before .
½ pt ew Hundred Miles @ 8/1
3.55 The short priced fav is the hat-trick seeking youngster Blue Hero , who is looking ahead of the game , even with a stiff penalty , and has won his last two here , but is a hold up type , as are the vast majority of his rivals so worth chancing the ultra consistent but long standing maiden in Accrington Stanley , one of the few prominent racers in the field, remains on a workable mark and proven over C&D .
½ pt ew Accrington Stanley @ 15/2
4.30 The consistent Alezan will give it a go but would do very well getting his preferred handy sit from the worst of the draw. Track regular Kenstone is still a bit high in the weights so worth trying the unexposed Just Amber , who runs for a top stable and plenty to like about her recent 3rd at Leicester off this mark and trip .
¼ pt win Just Amber @ 9/2
5.05 Street Jester is 3 from 5 at this track and his recent run , again here , showed he was still not handicapped out of things . Problem is that in this race for amateurs , has a very inexperienced jockey aboard .
¼ pt win Street Jester @ 6/1
Selected Ponty- soft ground on this undulating , galloping and stiff track
1.15 Not a competitive maiden and the clear form horse is Manila Scouse , proven on soft ground and extra furlong should suit but I prefer the chance of the well related Greenbarn after a satisfactory debut at Beverley in the mud, when the fav and longer trip expected to suit .
¼ pt win Greenbarn @ 4/1
1.45 You’d do very well picking the winner in this big field nursery with the daunting prospect of a slog in the Ponty mud at this trip , certainly far enough for 2yos , but at the odds I’m trying nursery newcomer Everyday , owned by Her Majesty , on a fair mark for what he’s achieved , proven on the ground and on a stiff track .
¼ pt ew Everyday @ 8/1
2.20 A good quality Class 1 for 2yos and the worthy short priced fav is Westover , who brings the bet form to the table and proven on stiff tracks and the ground . Ponty is a bit of a law to itself and the Mark Johnston trained Approachability was successful on debut over C&D making all and lost little when 2nd last time in the Nottingham mud . He looks the usual tough type you expect from this stable and from a good draw, a very nice ew play .
½ pt ew Approachability @ 10/1
2.55 Stag Horn won this well last year in the mud and despite not being In the greatest of form this season , this could well be his target and preferred over Here And Now, who has every chance at the ratings but stamina a huge doubt .
½ pt win Stag Horn @ 5/6
3.30 a stack of early pace which will suit the in form late playing Myristica, who has run well over C&d in the mud before and SDS rides . The in form Thunderclap has flopped both times at this longer trip .
¼ pt win Myristica @ 9/2
4.05 Very little early pace in this which gives a decent chance to the mud loving front running Dana Forever , who’s 3 pounds above her last winning mark and has a rare try at a stiff track, but could be hard to catch .
½ pt ew Dana Forever @ 12/1
4.40 None of these are really banging at the door but Impeller is more consistent than most and is preferred .
¼ pt ew Impeller @ 8/1
5.15 There’s a stack of early pace in this which will suit the late playing and mud loving John Kirkup , who won this last year off this mark and on deep ground .
¼ pt ew John Kirkup @ 9/1
Selected Plumpton – good ground on this gently undulating and sharp track
2.30 PREMIUM RACE
3.05 Youngster Sergeant is 3 wins and a first flight fall from 4 this season and is still looking ahead of the game , but the 8 pound hit will test this odds on shot . The consistent Blood Eagle has good form over C&D and could surprise .
¼ pt ew Blood Orange @ 6/1
4.15 The odds on fav is Royaime Uni , but is a bit high in the weights and recent flat effort not great . Alborkan came good with a smooth success over C&D last season and backed that up with a close 3rd carrying a penalty . On a vey fair mark in his first handicap and was quite useful on the flat . Just hope he’s ready to go after the absence .
½ pt win Alborkan @ 6/1
4.50 The admirably consistent Brother Pat remains on a workable mark and this slightly longer trip shouldn’t be an issue around this easy track and takes on most beatable rivals .
½ pt win Brother Pat @ 7/4
Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta
5.00 Few of these are crying out to be backed , with little to recommend most , the exception is the lightly raced Sands Fury , a close 3rd over C&d last time and has a good jockey aboard in this apprentice race . Only concern is the 7 week break, but the stable is going well.
½ pt win Sands Fury @ 5/2
5.30 The reliable Manumission’s only blip of late was at this trip while the in form Come On Linda remains a maiden after 18 tries . Outtake has the worst of the draw and the stable is struggling , but his close 3rd over C&D last time gives him strong claims .
¼ pt win Outtake @ 8/1
6.00 Not much between the short priced fav Liangel Hope and Resilience , but the latter’s good 3rd came In a more competitive heat .
¼ p win Resilience @ 5/1
7.00 PREMIUM RACE
7.30 The fav Follow Your Hear looks vulnerable down in trip as he likes to dominate, but the field is full of early pace .Hyde Park Barracks disappointed last time but his earlier close 2nd over C&d puts him very much in the picture . Preference is for the 7 times course winner Mutabaahy , well drawn for a late player , well handicapped , but can put in the odd bad one .
¼ pt ew Mutabaahy @ 11/1
8.30The fav Zartaj has clear claims but short enough in the market for his chance . Preference is for dual course winner Trevie Fountain, who’s dropped to a really good mark and did well last time when upped to this trip for the first time and clearly stayed well. He is another I’d be a lot more confident about if the stable was going better .
¼ pt ew Trevie Fountain @ 12/1
